If I'm being honest, I really didn't like Rosemi at first. I thought she was boring, she's completely different from my previous oshis Subaru, then Polka, then Ame, and I didn't enjoy her streams. I meant to unsub, but forgot to, and a notification for her CSGO stream popped up. I was like "oh, she plays CSGO? That's cool, I'll at least give it a try." Her Brosemi schtick was the first moment I realized that she was actually pretty funny and entertaining. Then I started watching more and more of her streams until I realized I was going out of my way to watch more Rosemi streams than I was Ame streams. I actually have no idea when it happened. I remember when she debuted, I had never really watched her before but I knew of her so I was excited when I immediately recognized her. But then I barely watched her for a long time, to the extent I kept thinking, man I've been subscribed to her all this time and I've hardly watched her, what's wrong with me. Maybe her voice and her design appeal to me on a subconscious level and that got me hooked. The way she sounds, there's not really anyone else like that in vtubing. Even though most of them center around the same protagonist and there is some overarching lore, the majority of the Ys games are pretty self-contained so you can basically jump in with whichever one grabs your interest and you'll be fine. I would personally recommend The Oath in Felghana to a new Ys player, for a game with classic-style Ys gameplay that also doesn't feel too dated. It's also not too long so you get a tightly-paced, satisfying experience that doesn't ever feel like it's dragging, so it makes a good first impression and gets you excited to play more. The more recent, party-based Ys games are also great of course, but they're also longer. And I think it's better to play a solo Adol game like Oath first to appreciate the series' roots.

Yeah, aside from Ys I & II, which are directly connected and usually come packaged together as one game so it'd be hard to play II first on accident, and Origin (which is still its own thing set hundreds of years before Ys I and has a different protagonist so you don't have to play Ys I & II first but you'll appreciate a lot of references if you do), most of them do their own thing so you'll be fine even if you just play the ones that have the coolest sounding premise. Even the numbering of the games isn't really a big deal, chronologically Ys IV is set before Ys III for example. The aforementioned Oath in Felghana is a remake of Ys III by the way, but like I said, it stands alone well so don't let the numbering intimidate you. Hope you enjoy Ys when you check it out, it's genuinely one of my favorite video game series of all time.
