Jane is probably the best, Kenny is good but it's also partly because of the writing in season 1 setting his character up. But characters like Alvin and Sarah could have been much bigger characters in the story. There was no emotional impact when Sarah died, it just happened.

The issue for me is that Kenny is not the aggressor in this situation. Jane purposely pushed him to the edge to make him dangerous. This wasn't like she kept shit talking him until he suddenly became lethal, she lied to both Clem and Kenny by pretending the baby was actually dead. That's a serious matter and if I was told the baby I was caring for, especially one I'm that invested in, got killed due to another person's actions, I would get violent too. I'll be honest, I hardly even noticed the "on accident" due to the shitty writing. That should have been a point she emphasized, instead of just standing there with no real explanation like she was braindead.
I'm not saying it was right of Kenny to kill Jane, but it wasn't right of Jane to kill Kenny either. Both were in the wrong, but in my opinion Jane was more so. Kenny was violent, unstable, prone to outbursts. Jane knew this, she knew very well how quickly he would beat the shit out of someone just for one thing that went wrong. And she decided to use this knowledge by giving him possibly the worst news she could have said, something she knew was far more grave than a false promise of a nice house or stockhold of food.
Maybe she didn't think he would go as far as to kill her, but she knew that he was going to try and beat the shit out of her. No, neither of them deserved to die, nor were either of them in the right. But Kenny's nature was purposely manipulated to bring out the worst in him. And Jane did that on purpose, whether or not she called it an accident doesn't quite matter because she knew it would be the same to Kenny.

The funny thing was that I didn't even give a shit at that point, I just needed some workout to get rid of bad thoughts after a stressful day and kinda thought I'll be weak forever. Consistency and not overloading your routines is the key i'd say.
