The key to having good day dreams and hypnagogic hallucinations and just falling asleep easily is getting into a low frequency brainwave state. The opposite state of being focused and alert. With some practice you can kind of tell what state you're in and if what you're doing is making you more relaxed or more alert so you can flow in one or the other direction. If you can't control it as well then you can at least make use of it when it happens naturally, so when you feel groggy and out of focus that's a great time to lie down and imagine cuddling Kiki.

There are other aspects of hypnagogic hallucinations besides these that aren't as romantic, like hearing random auditory noises and very frequently you get the "tetris effect" some people mentioned before. Inbuilt koikatsu video export so it probably can't be compared to other programs. The way it works it takes screenshots for every frame then puts them all together into a video. The good part is this means no quality loss regardless of how bad my rig is, but it does influence the render time. Its set to pretty close to top quality though and its webm specifically that takes more than 10x longer than mp4.
