In your example you're talking about the total viewers of that group, which is a completely different metric. If we get the median for it we're likely going to end up with a 3-view number, which is also a different metric.
Both have their own uses. Getting the median of a group measures the approximate mean by excluding outliers e.g. Pekora, Kuzuha
Nijisanji's median of median peak CCVs of 1.2k means that their streamers are closer to this range than on Kuzuha's CCVs, which is apparent if you're going to eyeball it.
VSPO besting Nijisanji on this metric just shows that on average VSPOs streamers are more talented than Nijisanji.

He gets to 10k pretty easily these days, but he also doesn't overlap often and his content is almost always buff content. The thing too with Elden Ring is that for the most part, it can retain people watching for days. I don’t believe it’s one of those games where you get 10k one day and 5k the next; I think as more people themselves progress, the more eyes are available for watching. And you can see between Ina, Kiara, Irys and Mori that NO ONE has reclined from it despite multiple streams of it. Even better, fucking Ina maintained 11k while a 14k karaoke was going on alongside it.
