I've heard a lot of the audition tapes that didn't get viewed are due to the subpar manner people filled in their applications, so I suppose you really should make an impact simply from your application alone, since they're probably checking who's most passionate about it from that.
I would guess that the audition tape's just a factor of how well you can entertain yourself and your audience while streaming a video game, especially since we have Mysta in Luxiem who's really loud with seemingly little VA experience but is a good entertainer.

That said, considering the audition clip says

As far as i can tell, both nijisanji and holostars is just an initial buff, if you are someone worth watching they will stick, if not they will disappear.
So i wondered, wouldn't it be fine if i just apply to smaller corps as well, as long as they seem legit? I do have the money to get my own stuff so - all better than being indie. Atleast in my view, might earn less but seems fine.

I stream three times a week, and I stream the same three games each week, and have been for...a few weeks now? Two have definite ends and the other is a roguelike I could easily continue to happily sink many many hours into. Should I rotate the other two games out for frequently? Judging off views alone people really seem to show up the rougelike and then...kinda for the other two.

I find a schedule of a set game on weekends (an RPG for me) and a rotating schedule during the week of 1-2 other games/ an art stream has kept it fresh for me and the viewers theoretically should be there for you not the game anyway. Keeping a small semblance of consistency helps though so dont change too much.

I'm usually not like this and what normally happens is that i just tend to give up on things, but i feel like this is more important to me on a personal level now. I might actually start having serious fun with this after over a year.

Sometimes you just have to start even if you initially don't like it. If you only have a spark of passion or an impulse to do something, do it. You might hate it after a while and stop, but maybe you'll start feeling that you can't go without it and that's where you can start being truly productive and get to working on fixing yourself.

I know a lot of people here don't like taking advice unless it has the word "Vtuber" slapped on to it, but there's a lot of videos and guides on the absolute basics of streaming, content creation, growth, etc. A lot of it is very basic advice and some of it may not apply to you as a Vtuber (the more IRL related things, things that clash with opsec, etc) but most of it boils down to networking, creating microcontent, finding your target audience and interacting with similar communities (extremely easy when it comes to Vtubers), and the classic yoink and twist.

That's a good point. If you're enjoying it then I guess it's technically not a waste of time, moreso just a waste of effort? As for other outfits, I think it's better to stagger things out instead. You'd basically be blowing the whole wad on what'll likely be one of your smallest streams. Gradually release outfits and make them mini-events instead. Multiple covers is pretty common for singers to debut with though.

A debut for a nobody is pretty unimportant unless you meet the previous criteria I mentioned, which is why it's better to spread that content over several streams once in a while instead of pushing it all into one.

it is almost time for my vacation. after a month of no-streaming i will start again at point zero. having gained no regulars from over a year of streaming means I'll have to switch it up and put more energy into it.

Is [Vroid model -> PNG with animation -> Live2D -> Custom 3D model] a "reasonable" progression for a Vtube channel and avatar? What follower milestones should I be looking at for when it'd be worth it to upgrade from each?
