How many time more do you think the whole vtuber "fad" will last? I feel like it's gonna last for the most part of the decade and then phase out to be remembered as a 20's thing by future generations.

>zoomers are getting into Emo music again because they like the 'retro 2000s' aesthetic
>kids in the 2040s will get into vtubing because they like the "retro 2020s" aesthetic
Well
With any luck I'll be dead.

It will last indefinitely until something conceptually superior comes to replace it. I cannot see it ever dying of its own accord

I think people will eventually get tired of the gimmick. There is just so much creativity you can squeeze out of the talents before it becomes repetitive.

If HoloEN3 isnt better than Council its fucking over.
- VShojo can't carry the scene
- NijiEN is going to repeat Luxiem
- Startups refuse to challenge their competitors and continue to make the same mistakes
- Indies constantly deconstructing vtubing without adding anything new
- L2D Vtuber tech hasn't made any major updates after the hand movements

Shit is looking pretty grim

I don't think the concept of vtubing will die out. Corporations and the idol image may, but as long as streaming exists so will vtubing. Besides the "you can just pretend you're not ugly" thing people always bring up, an avatar is convenient you want some way of expressing yourself onscreen without worrying about looking your very best on camera

The fact that Hololive hasn't dipped in popularity in any noticeable amount after Coco's graduation and Rushia's termination proves that their brand name is really strong. 10 years down the line they could probably replace all of their current talents over time and still be somewhat successful.

They're gonna need a new gen 3 powerhouse at some point to help keep the momentum going. If they can't hit a new trendsetter they're going to begin to stagnate and decline eventually.

Vtubers will become a part of things that exist just like the YouTuber fad didn't go away as much as it went endemic. The technology is becoming better and more available, so yeah.
It's gonna be crazy to see what happens next, you already have YouTuber fanbases that have been around for 10 to 15 years, the younger girls in Nini and Hololive could very well be active 10 years from now.

They're going to keep evolving or just become normalized to the point vtuber isn't some kind of special label. Youtubers before vtubing were making videos with 2d images for a long time and transitioning to moving versions isn't a stretch.
Nux already did it and he's just the same rantsona he's always been. He's not really a vtuber.

Streaming is more popular than sports for some zoomers. Streamers have replaced traditional actors and celebrities for zoomers.
If Vtubing is anime streaming, then it's not a fad, but the future.

I'm curious as to how the EN side will fair when Gura graduates. I know people meme about >dead subs but she's really a lynchpin for the branch, she's beloved by JPs and the other ENs, her singing brings in big numbers, and there's no one who could really take the same role if she were to go, at least not yet

>> No.19727492

It'll die the day that streaming dies, which isn't going to happen anytime soon. Streaming is now the best way to advertise your product/games to an audience. It grows bigger every year. Only way it dies is if the newer generations just stop using twitch/youtube and strictly use Tiktok. Vtubers are just streamers with an anime avatar.

In Japan they are fucking celebrities and you can find them everywhere, magazines, street ads, all shops, TV, radio...
