I don't believe Holo has a real foothold in getting quality male applicants at all or will ever have. Holostars were mogged for years by even the smallest indies and the Hololive fanbase will be VERY judgmental and rabid toward anything they might do wrong. Any male applying to holo is either a /vt/ lurker trying to get in the girls DM or low value applicants with litterally no background as the risk for actual applicants is too high for the expected return, especially since there is no other showing of a EN male in holo that succeded. It's much safer to go with Niji as a male as they have a lot of background with engaging with males applicant, a pre-established watcherbase that WILL watch you AND a much different culture making you much less likely to walk into a Yab without noticing.
The cards are all in Anycolors hands for the guys and there's nothing Yagoo can do about it without changing the entire model of his company.

One of my favorite vtubers debuted less than half a year ago with zero prior streaming experience beforehand. Just because Cover has been swinging and missing with some of the people they hired doesn't mean it is applicable to outside of Holo EN.
