/yeah/ lore

The Kingdom of /yeah/ was created out of the union of three entities, The City State of /SCAM/, the Kosakan Nomads, and the Phantomo Tribe realizing that through unity it had a better chance of surviving through the schizo raids and winter of baits. With their peoples united under one banner, /yeah/'s power and influence spread, throughout the Ethereal River basin, to the Northwestern Heights, until it settled into it's current borders today

Its power is centered on the City of /SCAM/, now renamed as the City of /yeah/, located on the banks of The Ethereal River. It is where most maritime trade is conducted, with The River never freezing even during the harshest winters, it's harbor is bustling with ships throughout the year. Its streets are lined with shops selling products like fishes, furs, and gemstones. /yeah/'s main exports are things such as lumber, grains, fishes, and metals.

Outside of The City's walls are smaller towns and villages with their own expertise and specialities. Towns next to the "Bunch of Forests" forest export lumber and other products from the forest. Towns in the Northwestern Heights mine for iron, minerals, and gemstones and sends them downriver. And towns on the border of /yeah/ are fortified and are heavily guarded to secure the peace inside and outside of /yeah/

Only wishing to preserve its peace and stability, /yeah/ has no ambitions to expand out of its current borders, with its armies only existing to preserve those current borders. /yeah/ is willing to trade and make allies with nations that help secure its security.

History:
/wg/ started out as nothing more than a rogue band of warriors ousted from their homeland for their overzealous glorification of violence. This small tribe roamed the lands in search of a new home, picking fights and making enemies everywhere they tried to settle down. This led to them being booted out of territory after territory until they finally found a place to call their own in what is now /wg/. These original members of /wg/ were obsessed with inflicting and receiving as much pain as possible, believing it to be the only way one could experience the richest and purest sensations that life had to offer. This would all change, however, with one citizen's discovery of a new use for the chuubanite native to the area. With the proper preparations, one could ingest the chuubanite and harness its energy to receive prophetic visions from the patron deities closest to them. The First Prophet journeyed throughout /wg/, telling all of what he had experienced, and his tale quickly spread like wildfire among the people. It captured their hearts and imaginations, revealing new sensations that all the pain in the world had not been able to give them. Clearly a change was needed. Swords and whips were put down in favor of scrolls and quills as the people of /wg/ turned to this new source of inspiration and wrote down their scriptures to be consumed by all. In more recent memory, there was an event known as the Nightmare Omen, where on one fateful night, a singular terrible vision came to all the citizens of /wg/ while they slept. Upon awakening, the people were filled with rage and terror, rampaging through the streets as they attacked imagined enemies and friends alike. For most, the aftereffects of this strange vision faded by the next day, leaving many confused about what had happened and concerned about how to prevent another such catastrophe. Though there were some among the populace who seemingly never recovered and continue to ransack and pillage in a blind fervor.

Society:
Life in /wg/ today reflects both its violent beginnings and newfound passions. At a young age, the children of /wg/ are subjected to a battery of tests to determine their aptitude for one of two roles: battler and oracle. Those who do not show signs of being suited to these tasks are returned to their families to live their lives, growing up to fulfill a wide variety of occupations. But for those who are selected, an intense training regimen is laid out for them. The future battlers are trained to endure under excruciating levels of agony and to deal it out in equal measure. Those who are destined to become oracles are taught how to harness the powers of chuubanite to bring forth all manner of visions to be shared amongst the populace.

Government:
Though not literal prophecies of the future, the visions oracles receive are important sources of advice and warnings of what is to come when interpreted correctly. For this reason, the nation's top oracles serve as a committee which runs /wg/. Amongst themselves, a leader is elected and given the title of Archbishop, a position he keeps until death. The Archbishop and the other highest-ranked oracles thus form the governing body of /wg/, using their visions as a guide for their decision-making. Though there are rumors that some of these members are taking bribes from unknown sources to give out prespecified visions.

Trade:
Unsurprisingly, the chief export of /wg/ is the scriptures divined by its oracles. The fetish nations comprise one major font for trading, as there is no shortage to their hunger for more tales of their deities' debauchery. As the culture surrounding the oracles and capturing their visions grew, so too did the industries most closely related to that practice. And so /wg/ is also a large producer and exporter of parchment, pens, and ink. The forests in the northern half of /wg/ provide much of the nation's paper and lumber needs.

Cities:
Omelas is one of the largest and most populated cities in /wg/. Founded at the site where the First Prophet made his discovery, it is considered the cultural center of the nation. Rentry is the capital of /wg/ and home to the Grand Library, a massive structure dedicated to storing the many scriptures produced by the country's oracles. Legends say it was constructed by a single man, determined to provide a place where all the works of /wg/ could be accessed by anyone who desired them. Though some stories have been rumored to be lost forever amongst the Grand Library's numerous labyrinthine shelves, those who dare to venture deep enough into its collection are sure to find what they seek eventually. Dusbin is a small bustling town in southern /wg/. Settled by a combination of /wg/ and /asp/ citizens, it is one of the first sites of the collaboration between these two nations. The Google Docks are a large network of harbors along /wg/'s western coast, handling the bulk of /wg/'s trading as well as housing a number of fisheries.

the kid was a mascocist, his enjoyment of pain had nothing to do with the physical anomaly that is Mai-chan, that would likely be the case with our soldiers as well, though some more than others. it's also worth considering whether or not those with Mai-chan's blessing should be infertile to all but those who also have the blessing, as was depicted in the doujin also, "ritually suitable flesh" sounds like a good bit of balancing, since Mai-chan healed from her seppuku with a store-bought chicken, and recovered from having her head and womb turned into paste by repeated gunfire with a couple pills full of normal caleries, so i just wanted to point that out. ty

A throwaway line from Kaede suggests that his masochism has something to do with his neural wiring, so I figured it's not just pure masochism that's in play. Regardless, that's a somewhat moot point since he isn't a vtuber so far.
As for fertility, I've been thinking about it. If we go by the doujin, female with that blessing would be infertile unless the male also has the blessing, but we don't know if the male can breed with normal females.
I think a way to adapt it into this setting would be to have both sides be infertile, or at least have the blessing not be hereditary, to avoid potentials for selectively breeding a race of Mai.

>>19402584
I'm fine with destroying the head being fatal for balancing sake, but I think limb loss should not be permanent, just takes a long time/a lot of ritual flesh to heal. Another possibility is to have fleshgrafting of that degree resulting in the limb looking like the original source, but I feel that might be more a /zomg/ thing.

pretty sure it was hereditary. the baby was able to recover from being torn in half, but couldn't survive the blender since, according to the flic at the end, you can only kill her if you destroy every part of her. as for the head thing, i was suggesting having imperfect healing, for instance, you could heal a bone into the wrong place, or grow cancer cells that have to be surgically removed every now and then, resulting in our already short staffed military having an inconsistent rooster due to them constantly needing to heal from removing tumors everywhere. the brain is a delicate region, so descruction to any part of it, while not always fatal, would often lead to severe problems that could potentially make someone unfit for combat, with complete destruction leading them to being a vegetable more often than not. if it's an imperfect healing, it stands to reason that this kind of thing would happen every now and then, so i can accept that as a potential nerf, but absolutely we should keep them ability to restore limbs, if only for our more extreme religious practices. it's also sad that we no longer get to engage in skull fuckery, since brain damage. truly a terrible loss for our culture maybe we could say that due to our reserved usage of chuubanite, we typically try to underuse it, leading to these imperfect results, so if we are willing to spend more chuubanite, a soldier can recover from even the worst conditions, but since we are very reserved with our chuubanite we only do it for our society's most esteemed members.

It might be hereditary in the doujin, but since in this setting, there're multiple people with this blessing, and instead of being sex toys they're being made soldiers, some additional limits will have to be implemented. I figured it being non-hereditary would be a good way to do that.

I'm not too sure if we're that stingy with chuubanite since if anyone is qualified to get healed using it, it would be the blessed elite soldiers. I figured imperfect healing would be more common if they're done to regular soldiers or people otherwise more expendable.

I'm fine with brain damage not being fixable. I reckon if we want to throw some Viking influence into /meat/, we can make it so that all blessed warriors will eventually have enough irreparable damage that they'll be used as a source of flesh instead. As such, they very much prefer to get killed in combat or otherwise be eligible for final sacrifice instead of being stuck in a farm. I reckon the combination of accumulative damage and this mentality should help keep the size of the unit low, and ensure that they don't become practically immortal with constant grafting.

>> No.19406252

>>19405242
i like that viking concept, especially since it's fitting with our religious interpretation of things. how about this, our medical infrastructure is centrally located at home, so if you recover the bodies of elite raiders and bring enough of them back, they can be revived, but if their bodies are scattered within enemy territory, there isn't enough of them to recover, and thus they are considered dead. this makes our defensive abilities better, since any lost soldier defending our borders is near the place where they could be recovered, but also makes it possible to avoid losing too many of our most elite raiders, at least the ones that make it back. this keeps a bit of the canon for Mai-chan's blessing, while also maintaining the blunt of the nerfs to our offensive capabilities. powerful defense-centric abilities that cannot easily be used offensively, and that come at a cost (extreme example being /nasa/'s nuclear bomb scenario) are more reasonable. the healing would still be imperfect, but it would allow us to potentially get around some degree of brain damage, and the recovery time, plus the fact that it will only be in our own territory means that it would be much harder to be offensive at longer ranges from our territory, effectively making it a purely defensive ability with deminishing returns that would only be used to recover the most elite soldiers who make it back to /meat/. i suppose this thread will have to judge my reasoning, though. if it is such a concern i'll accept it, but i would at least like some options to deal with braindamage without it being an instant death every time.

/meat/ here, we were talking about what godhood meant a while ago in responce to the stories about killing rushia i think inorder to become a god you need some degree of worship to gain the right to enter the heavenly realm, ie you need to have a channel with at least a few people who know about your existence, but inorder to be considered /here/, you need to interact with your community on 4chan, and to get a place on the map, your followers must create territory threads and defend it in your name. /asp/ and /become/ have similar processes, but /become/ requires you make yourself similar enough to the god you are trying to become during a ritual of sorts. gods are strengthened by worship, but can be weakened by other means, such as when they are struck down by the gods above them graduated and when they are weak enough, the act of /becoming/ a god can also cause the god to /become/ you. this is the process /meat/ uses to try to kill a god, by forcefully summoning them to the mortal plane and then sacrificing them sometimes multiple times if necessary to return them to the life cycle. this is how i percieve it, and potentially a few others in /meat/, at least. tell me if you like it.

>> No.19407767

>>19407173
i like it because it is fitting with greek mythology, and also makes /asp/ and /become/ essentially the same process. in a way, it still is a kind of transubstantiation, but it requires a community of sorts to believe it, not just a single person. isn't that more appropriate for the setting? now, as for the actual different realms, maybe we could say there is a way to physically enter different realms through some portal or another, but it should be exceedingly difficult for the most part. obviously when gods walk among their followers, they partially leave the heavenly realm to be present in the mortal realm, but otherwise it takes effort to do that. maybe we could say that it requires a certain amount of chuubanite to do so. in fact, we could say that chuubanite's primary function is to bridge the gap between realms, explaining why multiple places can use the same resource in vastly different ways. that adds a degree of realism, or at least provides an explanation to how chuubanite works in general. what are your thoughts on that?

>> No.19407842

>>19406252
I don't think our medical infrastructure is mostly contained at home. If nothing else, our reliance on rituals mean the clergy itself forms a significant part of said infrastructure. It seems likely that they'll bring some ritual tools along for less severe injuries, and perhaps emergency blessing of flesh for healing and repairing purposes. Basically, it seems reasonable that we'll at least have the equivalent of a field hospital, as /meat/ heads will definitely realise the need of that due to how Mai's blessin and fleshgrafting works.
That said, the idea that downed warriors have to be recovered for healing lest they die is in line with what I mentioned in the rentry entry, with it being a prerequisite of proper caring. I suppose there is an implication that those who know how to deal with /meat/ heads will make sure to maim, maybe even burn (fire, the eternal enemy of superhuman regeneration) any downed /meat/ raiders ASAP, which can be interesting to write about.
As for brain damage, I mean even in real life, not every concussion is going to have a permanent effect, and Mai's blessing implies that at least some degree of injuries will be treatable. It's just that the lifestyle of a raider means severe injuries in general are rather likely.

>>19407173
I would say some kind of apotheosis is definitely in play when it comes to /asp/ (less sure about /become/, anyone from there here?), and those who have gathered enough a following to make a thread (the prerequisite of existing in this world as a country) is similar enough to the idea that worships makes one into a god.
I think at least when it comes to /meat/ religion, their god-eating rituals really involve processes that make the sacrifice /become/ the god in question, although that might not be something observable from neutral parties (hence the transubstantiation analogy). Of course, it's also awfully convenient that /meat/ only eats gods who are already fading away, while saying that their god-eating rituals make them fade away...

more on that, i suggested to /meat/ some time ago that chuubanite could be the blood of the gods, which would explain how our religion would interpret it's use. we were always planning on using chuubanite for our god killing rituals, so this works very well with our understanding of things.

>>19407842
when i said the medical infrastructure is centrally located at home, i should have clarified that i meant the bulk of our medical infrastructure would be at home. of course we would have some tools to heal our soldiers in battle, but it would naturally be more reserved since chuubanite is a finite resource, and even if they carried a lot of it, they might only have the tools to use it to a certain extent, likely not as much as in places at home.

more the ones that are already weakened. our interpretation is that we are guaranteeing their death by engaging in enough of those rituals that further return them to the mortal plane via the life cycle, but it's true that it might be seen as impossible to prove that our actions are having any effect at all from a neutral party's perspective. suspension of disbelief for this setting of course. it can be true that it is having that effect in /vtwbg/ while probably not being the case in the real world.

regardless of how limited it is initially, unless someone starts finding either a way to make more chuubanite, or an alternative to chuubanite, the concept of magic itself in this setting could slowly fade away. if it becomes canon that chuubanite is their blood, maybe we could say that /meat/s practices can increase the amount of chuubanite in the setting, but i am afraid i am making /meat/ too much of a center focus in this setting by doing that. it would fit perfectly with our doctrine, though. specifically the rebirth stage of the cycle

Sakuran has been suspicious of both Kronii and kronie milk since the start. We prefer to import any dairy product from the well-known Noel, mogudoog and Mion nation farms, though unfortunately a small minority of 35p seems to indulge in Kronii milk occasionally.

Also, to Hoshiyomia and Pekoland (though I don't think the latter is around), how do you feel about coming up with lore for MiComet in common? I have my own ideas but I'd also like your input.
In my view, the MiComet area is a common economic zone between Sakuran, Hoshiyomia and Pekoland. Initially, it was established as a zone strictly between Sakuran and Pekoland, as a containment zone for each nation's more fanatic supporters of the duo, and it was effectively co-led by the two nations.
Later, however, relations soured. The prominent theory is that heretic events and festivals in the PekoMiko land incurred the anger and/or fear of the deities, causing Pekora to send an oracle to the high priests in Pekoland to pull out their support. This brought about instability in the region, as the two nations blamed each other for the mishandling of the citizens and their practices, while the schizo residents themselves were running rampant, raiding villages around their borders, and sending rratssionaries to other nations to spread propaganda against one or both of Sakuran and Pekoland.
At the same time this was happening, Sakuran was beginning to establish better relations with another neighbour, Hoshiyomia. In the months/years what are our timescales again? during which PekoMiko was in turmoil, a new schizo faction, MiComet, had started to appear. Similar to the emergence of the PekoMiko supporters, MiComet supporters were few in the beginning but quickly grew in numbers and influence. This new faction of schizos saw the weakened PekoMiko zone as a favourable raiding zone, while the Hoshiyomia and Sakuran nations saw this as an opportunity to rid themselves of this new schizo group and also stabilise the region.
Thus, the PekoMiComet wars began. Long-time residents fought to defend their land from the invading force, engaging in multiple battles all across the zone. However, many original residents had long since left back to their nations, as faith in the duo diminished. Additionally, though Sakuran provided supplies to 35p in both sides and Hoshiyomia equipped their own hoshiyomis adequately, nousagis in the region received no support from Pekoland, as per their goddess' oracle. Outnumbered, outequipped and with moral at an all-time low, PekoMiko supporters were quickly losing ground.
After MiComet schizos had gained the upper hand by claiming more than half the zone for themselves, a ceasefire was signed. The area was to seek peace and allow the two sides to live alongside each other. Much like what often happens in such cases, the peace didn't last. Conflicts between residents of the two faction were immediate as soon as peace was established, and another war broke out. By this point, PekoMiko schizos were tired and had lost most of their faith, so they were completely routed, handing over their last lands to MiComet schizos.
Nowadays, the new MiComet zone is co-managed by Sakuran and Hoshiyomia, serving the initial purpose of a containment zone, but also giving Hoshiyomia easy access to the Eastern side of the Skyblossom peninsula. However, there still remain a small number of PekoMiko supporters in villages close to the Pekoland border, binding their time...

that is a good point, but in that they would look for things to use it on. the concept of rebirth applies to the life-giving properties of death, so if it was squandered on nothing particularly important, it wouldn't really add much to the cycle, the catch being that anything that is important to some is still important even if it isn't important to others. see the artistry in the upper classes being considered a continuation of the cycle.

>if it becomes canon that chuubanite is their blood, maybe we could say that /meat/s practices can increase the amount of chuubanite in the setting
Kind of on that, wouldn't the ascension of mortals to deities, a la /asp/, require chuubanite?
Not sure how this could be made more "realistic", but I would imagine the planet to have a chuubanite "pool", perhaps deep underground, that reaches the near-surface through multiple processes, whether natural or supernatural.
For example, my vision for chuubanite acquisition in Sakuran would be that small crystals of it are found in the lava from the volcano in the centre of the country, which are collected when it cools down. I imagine the mountains of rrat would have larger deposits in the form of chuubanite veins deep inside them.
While those are natural processes that involve the distribution of chuubanite amongst mortals, there may be supernatural processes that involve the transfer of chuubanite between planes. If we suppose that there is a certain amount of "raw" chuubanite in a pool deep in the planet's crust, it is possible that ascension to godhood pulls some of that chuubanite up through an osmosis type of process, to be absorbed by the aspiring deity. On the other hand, the death of a deity returns part of their chuubanite power back to the central chuubanite pool. I would argue that part of a deity's corresponding chuubanite is lost to the ether when they die, as many people may end up checking out of vtubers completely, as they lost faith and/or interest in the hobby, therefore sapping away some of the chuubanite.
We could even say that the planet's core itself is made of chuubanite. As more chuubanite manifests (more people start to watch a nd sub to vtubers and eventually end up in vt), the core, and the planet, slowly grow. If chuubanite somehow continues to be used up (vtubers fall out of popularity), the core and the planet shrink, eventually collapsing upon themselves in a world-ending event (if vt ever gets shut down)

>>19411720
Mai-chan the vtuber is based off of Mai-chan's daily life, and anything done by the real author is typically seen as either canonical, or an alternate timeline. for all intents and purposes, we'll treat it as canon. copying the exact mechanic is more fitting for a cult that follows chuubas such as Mai, you would expect the magical abilities of /inf/ to relate to time given their patron chuuba, kronii, is the warden of time. only fitting if an established mechanic were used for our chuubanite magic. any deviation makes it more arbitrary, and keep in mind that the suggestion of it being Mai-chan was meant to balance the power compared to the others, who could be considered even more overpowered by comparrison.

Also a thought hit me. The spirituality of Chuubanite should be explained at some point. Chuubanite doesn't just bond with the physical. It should bond with the spiritual. in that comment i was suggesting that it would take the entire industry to fix a brain. do you know how delicate the brain is? if this is an imperfect healing process, such as i have suggested for balancing reasons, then reconstructing an entire human head, brain and all, while being able to retain any amount of memories or functionality, all in a combat zone, using a process that could very easily lead to imperfect healing that, if not taken with extra caution, could leave the patient in a vegetative state, sounds almost impossible to me. at the very least, can we agree that it would be a good compromise in terms of balancing to say that, instead of being able to regrow brains on the fly, they would have to be sent back home to be properly treated after having their brains damaged, considering the other guy wanted any destruction of the head to be instant death, and wanted all lost limbs to be permanent? i think it is a good middle ground at least, since the functionality of head-destruction being the same as incapacitation still applies. the limb part seems a bit less reasonable, even from a medical perspective, since you can reattach limbs if you are fast enough.

i kind of wanted there to be a way to revive people with brain damage, since it is more canonical with Mai-chan's abilities, but if you are saying definitively that it should be death if the brain is destroyed, regardless of whether or not the body is recoverable, then i can accept that.

i was saying that it could, but only if they are brought back to /meat/ quickly, and even then there would be major imperfections that could present a risk. keep in mind, Mai-chan had her skull turned into paste with a gun, so there would be canonicity to it. also remember, this conversation was started with the elite of the elite in mind. i said chuubanite would likely be rare enough that we would only do it for the most esteemed of our society. the idea is that, at great cost to our chuubanite reserves, we could theoretically fix any medical issue that Mai-chan herself could have survived, but it takes more and more effort to do so, to the point where it's completely impractical to do it for any but the most esteemed.

>>19415032
i want to keep it tied to Mai-chan's canon, also what >>19415221 said, though how prayer works through chuubanite contains implications i would rather avoid telling anyone due to how strongly i oppose the potential result.

Not sure about the consciousness part, but I think willpower playing a role is partially implied in the writeup in >>19401474, where the body and mind of those with the blessing are "pushed to their absolute limit", so only people who have an acceptable level of willpower to make themselves useful as raiders will be trained as such, while the more feeble-minded ones will be relegated to farm animal duty. Then again, it's possible that any injuries where the blessing will have an effect will be so painful that only strong-willed individuals (or masochists, I guess) will survive the recovery with an intact mind.

Actually, I do have a problem with that, even the elite of the elite should not be able to outright defy death, no one should, this really is one of the key parts of any grounded world, if they die, they die, and if the body is sufficiently damaged it should be irrecuperable, there isn't any actual need to follow how mai-chan's world and abilities work.

>We only established that it's finite.
my thought was mostly that it would be rare for /meat/. the way i see it, either /meat/ has too much of it, and is too big of a target, or doesn't have enough of it, in which case our short supply of soldiers would easily lead to our death. the other option is that we have a medium amount, but with how much our civilization relies on it we are relatively primitive in the world stage, as far as technology goes, though not without reason we would need to be pretty resourceful with it.

>>19415502
>if the body is sufficiently damaged it should be irrecuperable
that's how you would canonically kill Mai-chan. the only difference is extent. i have said i am willing to accept this condition, especially since it seems most are ok with keeping the part about healing limbs, it's just that having the option, as extreme as it would be to use it, to recover from brain damage would make sense given the other factors.

>>19415871
i have said a few times it is an imperfect process. if the brain is sufficiently damaged the expectation is that they will come back as a vegetable, or else they will lose a significant amount of some aspect of their being. i clarified before that it is supposed to always have deminishing returns. also, there are "grounded" worlds with entities that can defy death, even in the way /meat/ loathes, namely this one, ironically enough. but even beyond this setting, there are multiple works that depict genuine immortality, and yet are seen as perfectly fine. i would argue, for instance, that sauron's ability to live so long as the ring of power still exists itself being a nei indestructible, mind altering tool of world-wide influence rivals any form of regeneration /meat/ uses, and then some, and while he isn't immortal, he is certainly more immortal than any from /meat/. would you say the lord of the rings isn't a grounded world, or that it is missing one of those "keys" you described? i don't mean to be pushy, i am fine with the conclusion that we can't recover from sufficient brain damage, i just wanted to point out a few things i recognized here, is all. thank you kindly for your feedback, i'll bring it to /meat/ when our next thread is made, assuming i am awake at the time.

The lord of the rings is certainly not what i would call a "grounded world" and more specifically, it's magic system is much different, stronger, vaguer, Sauron's a fucking demon lord man, Gandalf comes back from the dead and shit. This is something that is unfitting for the rules of the world we're making. Having death defying stunts, even if they come back as vegetables is just something that can easily get out of control.
Having strong limits on just how much damage can be lived through would work on it, for example, if they cut the head off, then they should not be able to stick it back in and the guy lives, he should die, if the guy gets his torso blown through by a cannonball or musket fire, dude's dead no matter how elite he is.
The "key" i refer to is the status of death, it should always be final.
Ah dealing with magic systems is a pain. I wish i could structure my thoughts better instead of just rambling like this.

>it just develops in a direction that isn't as common due to /meat/'s own goal
that's a good point, but i figured a lot of that developement would be considered magical/magitec rather than purely technological. using chuubanite in much of what evens the playing field means we are relying on a finite resource with no known substitutes, that might not be possible to replicate to differentiate us from civilizations that have either perished, or adapted differently. this was why i suggested that /meat/'s rituals might be what produces more chuubanite, following the theory that chuubanite is the blood of the gods who we kill. this could put a different meaning to stagnation, and the overpopulation of the heavenly realm, and it would make that feeling of inevitability feel less pressing to me, if it matters to you what concerns i have. otherwise our civilization is adapting in ways that might not last very long.

>>19416897
have you read the books? it's pretty much one of the golden standards for grounded fantasy worlds. i assume in this context that grounded is the opposite of arbitrary in that clear rules are present. as i said, there are clear, definable rules behind Mai-chan's regeneration. likewise, i have said that due to how chuubanite works, it is impractical, if not impossible to achieve the same level of regeneration in /meat/ soldiers, they'll always be able to survive less in comparrison. knowing biology, and with the context of what i was suggesting above, if you merely cut the head off, it would be easy to put the head back on, and keep the head and body perfectly alive, but reattaching the spinal cords in any way that could maintain motor function would be far more difficult, and so there would be no point in even trying since the most likely result would be a functional head and a bunch of dead weight for a body. might as well be dead as far as /meat/ is concerned. the status of death is final for sauron, just as it is final for /meat/, but the conditions for death are different, as sauron is not truly dead until the ring is thrown into the volcanoe from whence it was forged, as that is the only place powerful enough to harm it. as for /meat/, cutting off the head means they'll likely be dead forever, destroying the body, or keeping it hidden while it decays guarantees they'll be dead. i think i understand what you are trying to say, there is a sanctity to the concept of death where, if you are victorious in killing someone, only to later find out that they somehow were able to survive, it feels like that victory was robbed from you. that is understandable. to be honest, the only real effect this would have beyond lore is that you kill someone, and then some time later there might be someone similar to the person you killed among the faceless masses you call your enemy, assuming you didn't remember to do a couple steps before figuring they were finally dead. you could get the same thing with sci-fi settings, as magic is pretty much just a misunderstood technology. cloning, mind-reuploading, decoys and timetravel, assuming you consider that sci-fi and not sci-fan. but from my perspective, if you have a clearly defined mechanism, it is less grounded to make an exception under arbitrary conditions than to find a reason in lore for why that exact same exception might apply. you might say "reattaching limbs is ok, but if the head is severed from the body that is final, even if the head is still warm when the process of reattaching it is started" that feels a bit like a cop out. my compromise is to say "if you cut the head off, you could reattach it, but if you can't reattach the spinal cord properly it's as good as dead" which comes to almost the exact same conclusion, but does it without the somewhat arbitrary exception. the exception is now grounded as part of the lore, the problem you have, though, is the implication that, theoretically, under the best conditions possible, you might possibly have an instance where someone who is believed to have been killed is suddenly found alive, if not fully well. the easy way to resolve this is, again, to say the exception just is, for whatever purpose, the case, but the exception could also be further justified through lore, but that implicit "maybe" will never go away, because the grounded, clearly defined mechanisms would theoretically allow it if not for all the conditions making it increasingly improbable. i only want canon to be maintained, i am trying to create a canonical solution that addresses your concerns while not jepardizing mine. lets work together to figure out a world-building solution to our world building problem. lol, you think what you have been doing is considered "rambling", yet i can't even remember half the stuff i wrote off the top of my head now that i'm done. clearly i am the most autistic person here.

Technically the reason sauron can't die is because hes a fallen angel and as such his spirit is indestructible. His physically form is something he creates, which is why prior to certain events he was able to change his form almost at will. The destruction of the ring just completely crippled him, likely because he poured so much of himself into it

i thought him pouring so much of himself into it made it basically a physical manifestation of himself. is his crippled form capable of regaining any degree of power? that would put him more in line with the lovecraftian version of immortality, arguably the exact opposite of the ability i have been describing for /meat/. if he is crippled permanently, it at least has some connections to what i have been saying, only that there would be no reason to keep a /meat/ soldier alive in that condition.

Do we really need an explanation for that, though? I mean, apart from the fact that the brain is about the most sophisticated organ in a human body, and that it definitely stores many functionalities of our mortal mind. Any damage that would wreck a good chunk of the brain will logically means whatever was stored in that part of the brain is gone even if the physical structure is gone, and if said functions are vital, then the body won't recover from it due to losing said function.

>>19419206
I left that part ambiguous when writing the rentry at the beginning, but it's safe to assume it doesn't work by shoving a matching limb into the hole (probably something more for /zomg/ I reckon). I think it might be something more like transmuting ritually-prepared flesh into some kind of slurry that will be merged with the wounded, which will lead to the lost limbs eventually growing back, kind of like how some salamanders can regrow their tails.

this is where genetics and microbiology arguably play a role. the decaying process happens fairly fast, but not instant, even for braincells, if the head were to be put in some form of preservation system quickly from being cut off, it's entirely possible that it could be brought back to a controlled enviornment where they could reattach the head. the body itself can be kept alive without a head, this is most common with animals like snakes or chickens, who can sometimes be kept alive without a head for up to two years, but the basic idea of it relates to how many functions the brain is responcible for to keep the body alive. obviously humans have more demanding bodies, so it's not easy, but it is possible. furthermore, i am trying to make the difference between Mai-chan's blessing and Mai-chan's actual abilities one of degree, not function. maybe that is unnecessary, but i think it is more appropriate since it's an easily attainable option. the way that the brain developes is somewhat chaotic. many connections are formed, and then die in a wave of reconnectability until the neurons wire a path to their genetically predestined objective in few enough steps for everything to work, otherwise the neural cells starve to death and start over. this process typically reaches a kind of status quo after a certain stage of developement due to the resource-intensive nature of this process, but it continues to a degree indefinately throughout your life. we know Mai-chan's blessing requires a lot of callories to work, and that, as far as the doujin is concerned, she can regrow her brain and maintain perfect functionality (again, this wont be the case for /meat/, but a weakened form of this is what i am going for) it could be argued that an imperfect version of this developemental process is applied to the brain when undergoing recovery via Mai-chan's blessing. on a personal note, i reject the notion that any aspect of what you inherently are exists beyond the physical realm, so be they neural networks, or a sort of neuron-RNA interface where memories are stored genetically, the processes that creates a human's mind are physical in nature. Mai-chan's ability to regenerate can repair things even as extreme as that, therefore, Mai-chan's blessing, at the extremes beyond the extremes which we could never hope to attain, can do the same. the degree is strongly nerfed, it is guaranteed to be imperfect, but the process of brain developement allows for, if not the same structure, then a similar structure to be regained, potentially allowing for a partial recovery under the absolute best circumstances, and nothing less.

I'm only going off the singular scrap of lore that Watson has for this "flag" design which is more of a company banner than anything. So I might as well add another lore scrap for my oshi

Watson Industries LLC, est. [xxxxx], is well known, everyone should know the abridged history on a random plaque in god knows where. The boss who owns the title of great and cuter than usual: Ame. She's amazing, brought fires to humans or something, probably invented Vtubing as a concept, gave SOUL to humanity as a whole, which, as everyone you know knows, allows everyone to be happy from day to day. Then suddenly built Watson Industries. Perhaps it might be exaggerated, who knows. Flyers spread overhead in random nations spreading the word of Ame, even if that is violating the airspace of the neighbors. Eitherway, the one thing for certain is her giving her citizens the many departments for seeking a job. Aviation, logistics, security, human resources, pharmaceutical, assault, and on and on and on. You love it. Company gives you a job, the industry is allied with other nations nearby and has steady trade of certain types of technology, you get to eat your daily bread, listen to Ame on the radio, and then thank Ame you're not an expedition or occult studies member, sick fucking freaks.
Officer K has been eyeing you as of-
...
Officer K probably knows. It's fine. Eitherway, you know that's not his real name. He probably forgot it long ago, either by choice or because he never cared to give a shit about his birth name. Maybe he's just happy with being one of the many Ks. He's just like you. However, he probably doesn't care if you see yourself in him. He probably knows what you saw. Those ones that don't exist just yet. A sickly hue to the light they're covered in as they caught a lone defector crossing a outer checkpoint, bawling. A strained voice stating that they already knew about the plans years from now and history must be set on course. K keeps eyeing you. It's fine. The sun is out, the people are working, you are listening to Ame sing something off key, you got a new max PR at the company acclaimed Buffson's gym, and this sandwich is delicious.
You have all the time you need.

I think you might be overthinking it a bit too much desu. You don't really have to dive into neuron-RNA interface (which incidentally isn't a thing as far as I can tell, but I digress) to explain that losing a chunk of the brain will severely hamper cognitive and even vital function even if it's healed.
Overall, I think we can sum up what Mai's blessing and fleshgrafting combined can do as follow:
>Limb loss
healable in field hospital
>Minor head trauma (concussion and the like)
healable in homeland, the blessing might reduce chronic effects e.g. those commonly suffered by AFL players and boxers
>Cognitive function loss from brain damage (e.g. Rosemary Kennedy)
incurable, likely relegated to farm animal duty
>Vital function loss from brain damage (e.g. crushed brain)

>a kind of neuron-RNA interface
we actually already know it's a thing, i don't know the proper name for it, but you can parse data from neural networks into a RNA form. last i heard, there was some contention about whether or not memories are stored as RNA sequences, or if they are neural networks, but my opinion on it is that long term memory is almost certainly not stored in neural networks due to how terribly inefficient that would be, so the next best thing seems to be RNA.
as for the conditions you've set, you are correct, but it is benefitial for world building and future discussions to hammer out exactly how it works. worldbuilding is, at it's core, overthinking a setting, so i encourage everyone to do this level of overthinking and then some for their own projects. the fact i was getting at was that no matter how you set it up, there is theoretically a way to revive our soldiers, it's just increasingly improbable, and unreasonable due to the costs of doing it.

>it is benefitial for world building and future discussions to hammer out exactly how it works
Not really, no. It's important to define its limitation, but the actual mechanism is not really relevant, especially in a setting like this, where magic (in the form of chuubanite or other factors, such as that of worship) is an explicit force in play.
>there is theoretically a way to revive our soldiers

the actual mechanisms is how you know it's limitations, and what it's capable of. otherwise, it's limitations and capabilities are arbitrary, and therefore not grounded. maybe it is sufficient to leave it at that, but it isn't good worldbuilding to leave these kinds of questions unanswered. those answers always lead to more questions, which can always be used to further build upon the world building, and how grounded the setting is. it's better to have a grounded setting than one that is arbitrary and loosely defined. that is the core of what world building is to me. we clearly have different philosophies going into this, i don't blame you for it, this kind of mindset is generally seen as annoying, i just enjoy the opportunity to live out my autistic hobbies online, is all.
>I disagree with that
the main thing i was getting at was that all you need to do is find a way to address each of the conditions that would make it improbable. we agree that the conclusion tends towards what you said, i want to be certain that you know that it is theoretically possible to deviate from it, even though it is extremely improbable, and would be very costly. i want to be certain that, despite you knowing that, you are satisfied with the conditions i have laid out. again, not saying we necessarily will do anything, either due to a lack of will, or a lack of opportunity, just that if there are any opertunities our current agreed upon setup leave open, they will continue to be left open, and you will be satisfied with that due to how improbable and costly it would be to even try. remember, my definition of Mai-chan's blessing is that it is merely a weakened version of Mai-chan's abilities, vastly inferrior in degree but ultimately identical in function, this is rather important to my interpretation of how it works for world building reasons, and so if i am going to continue to think about this subject, it will be from that perspective going forward, so maybe you might consider reading the doujin to know for certain what that means so that we can figure out a way to compromise on other possibilities you might find objectionable, too? i love it when other people can partake in the same mediums i enjoy. regardless, it has been very fun hearing your opinion on all of the stuff i have said so far, i am sorry if i have been annoying or overly pedantic for you, i genuinely do want to make it all fit with your standards, it just takes a lot of time and effort to make a properly grounded world with detailed mechanisms, especially when it's a community-based thing. if there's nothing more to say, you can just reply in the affirmative and we'll be done for now. i have been writing quite a bit for a while, and it's not like i don't have things to do.

That is 8 out of the 90+ generals on the map, less that 10%. Do anons want to come to a conclusion now, with the votes we have, and then send envoys to threads to join and make lore with these parameters? Or send the envoys before closing the vote so other threads get a chance to voice their opinions? It's not like we decided on a deadline (*cough*) so it's up to us whether to wait or not.

KFP Cultural influence: AKA how dirndls becomes cool
>While KFP is not typically known for its cultural output, there is something to now about the spread of KFP culture to places outside its borders.
>Most significantly the traditional Pölitid dress, the Dirndl
>While its not wholly known what the catalyst for this spread is, be it /KFP/ communities holding Oktoberfests in foreign lands during the Orc Schizo occupation of the fatherland, or by men and women finding Pölitid women pretty and wanting to replicate their charms, the first place the dirndl spread to was /Nene/
>While the women of Nene had previously donned oriental style dresses with cyan patterned shawls, a trend had began among the wealthier women of Nene to import, and buy dirndls off KFP traders, and even commission them to be custom made with more Nekko sensibilities by Pölitid tailors.
>This caused a sort of "Dirndl mania" spread through out Nekko society, to such an extent that even depictions of their goddess changed to reflect the changing culture: even today the Archwife Nene Momosuzu is depicted wearing a Dirndl.
>While it became nowhere near as prevalent as it had in /nene/, Dirndls traded across routes taken by /KFP/ merchants eventually reached Noel, where their warmth and comfort made them popular with women in the highland regions of the country, as well as their appeal to the men of the country: they had a percieved innocent, rural, and wholly comfortable and civilian charm to them, which drove the men of the country, largely employed in military natured work for the knights guild that runs the country, utterly wild.

Hopefully it's not too bad, enjoy! Seriously sorry if anything is sloppy or if I just posted too much, I'm a little paranoid and anxious about posting this but... Yeah.
"A Look At The Rosebud"
By Dr.
The Rosebuta (Rosa Scrofa), commonly referred to as a "Rosebud" or simply "Bud" as they may be called in these posts, is a species native to the land of /rose/. For most of their life they walk around with humanoid bodies that hold a calm pink color. Their heads are always chubby, pig-like faces with a growth resembling a rose above their left ear. Despite their animal-like look and intelligence, Rosebutas are technically classified as plants. Classification has been questioned in recent years, due to growing knowledge of their biology, but as of this writing they are not referred to as animals.
Rosebuds are born from giant flowers sprouting out of the ground. These flowers are planted by Rosebuds themselves after successful pollination. The plants sprout within three days of planting and create a single large flower after around one week. The flower doesn't blossom until the Rosebuta is ready to leave, which may take anywhere from one to six months. The Rosebuta tumbles out of the flower and eats the leftover plant for its first meal. Newborn Rosebutas are very small in size, measuring no more than two feet (61cm) in height.
Rosebutas require no parental guidance and survive very easily in their environment. Young Rosebutas have a flower on their head, henceforth referred to as their "rose", which acts as a natural deterrent. The stench emitted by the flower is foul enough to repel any predators. The young feed on any foliage near the ground, along with using their rose as supplementary energy via photosynthesis.
After a certain period, the Rosebuta will grow large enough to begin feeding on animals. The rose will change from emitting a foul odor to that of an aphrodisiac. The friendly look and smell of the Rosebuta will lure in creatures with a false sense of kindness. When close enough, the Rosebuta will snap the animal's neck and use it as food from there.
At this point, the Rosebuta will follow one of two paths. Rosebutas who prefer consuming the plant life around them will maintain a smaller size and a more feminine, though still male, appearance. These Rosebutas are typically 4'7" to 5'7" (140cm-170cm) in height and have much larger roses. A large rose is seen as valuable for breeding, the larger the better. These Rosebutas will be called Rosies from now on.
The other path is for Rosebutas who enjoy the meat of living creatures. These Rosebutas will practically explode in size and muscle mass. They will be far larger than their smaller companions, standing at 6'3" to 6'11" (190-210cm) in height. Unlike the more feminine appearance of their counterparts, these Rosebutas will be much wider and far more intimidating. Their rose will be much smaller and their stamen will be larger. While their rose won't be as effective for luring in prey, their enhanced physique allows them to chase and hunt down prey far easier. Some may even grow tusks, though these have no true purpose beyond decoration. These Rosebutas will be called Boars from now on.
Rosies and Boars act in unison. The Boars being useful for heavy lifting and being the powerhouse of the pair, while the Rosies act as the more intelligent of the two and provide support by taking advantage of their smarter minds. There are, of course, outliers with smarter Boars and more active Rosies, but overall this is how they function together.
Rosies have a mating season of their own during the Spring time. Their large roses will begin to emit a powerful aphrodisiac that spreads over a wide area, luring in Boars. These Boars will fight for dominance over the Rosy, though the largest stamen is typically the winner due to a higher attractiveness. Breeding is relatively simple. Without getting into too much detail, the Boar will use its stamen (Male genitalia hanging between the legs, heavily resembling a human's genitalia) to pollinate a Rosy's rose. The rose will close up after pollination, growing a single seed inside. When ready, the rose will open back up and the Rosy will find suitable soil to plant the seed. The seed will quickly grow into a large flower which sprouts out of the ground, then the cyle begins anew.
In the next post I will go over the modern Rosebuta and how modernization has affected their nature and society. While this was written with Rosebutas sounding like non-sentient beings, they truly do have a very fascinating modern culture and are nearly as advanced as humans. But, that's for next time.

Chuubanite proposal

I apologize for the massive post; I got a bit carried away.

>What is the goal of this proposal
To attempt to define chuubanite and the rules and physical laws on how chuubanite acts and how it can be used in magitech. I aim to make these limits and rules as simple as possible without allowing for obvious setting-breaking applications. I also do not want chuubanite to become too dominant for the setting. Chuubanite should be a useful resource with useful applications in certain situations, not a Deus ex machina that fixes every issue, not a magical swiss army knife that does anything and everything for the plot, and not the McGuffin the setting revolves around (too much).
To fuel the conversation surrounding the subject of chuubanite and the magi-physical laws of the setting, and hopefully, to give ideas for the thread to work with and inspire anons to come up with their own proposals, modifications to this proposal, and/or creative chuubanite applications based on this or any of the other proposals.
>Starting assumptions
1. Chuubanite Exists.
2. Chuubanite is a resource with qualities we in our world would consider supernatural.
3. These qualities are in some instances and on some level(s) tied to vtubers.
3. Chuubanite is a mineral, either a metal or a rock of some kind.
4. Chuubanite can exist in a solid state at room temperature. This solid state is a stable in the sense that it can be shaped without having to fear about destroying the chuubanite object or accidentally creating a massive explosion.
4.a. This particular solid state does not have to be the only solid state chuubanite can take. Unstable solid states may very well exist.
5. The setting is allowed to become a low-to-medium -magic fantasy.

Chuubanite based magic is predictable, consistent, and universal, as in, the same set of actions taken in a similar environment using a similar chuubanite object will always result in the same outcome, no matter who is doing the actions. An experiment done using chuubanite ought to be able to be replicated by other people if they are able to re-create the same set of conditions. No faction should have magic that is completely exclusive to them.
1.a. In a sense, chuubanite and chuubanite based magic obeys an extended set of the laws of physics. These laws are universal and cannot be broken under any circumstance. These laws and chuubanite interactions may be able to be modeled using mathematics, but that is something I will not go into in this proposal outside of a few mentions, largely because I do not want to spend time on deriving equations for a system that has not yet been approved.
1.b. This law is a prerequisite for chuubanite alchemy. For there to be a field of “science” that studies a certain subject, that subject has to be governed by some set of rules, probabilistic or absolute ones, and there has to be a way for those studying the subject to come up with models for predicting the behavior of-, and interactions concerning, the subject.
1.c. This is also done in order to curb chuunism. Instead of ”only MY people can do this magic”, we’d have ”This exact type of magic is a secret known only to the top scholars/wisest masters of my faction (but an outsider could still learn the magic through cooperation with the faction, espionage, or independent discovery.)”
1.c.a. Each type of chuubanite can and should have unique magical properties, but these properties should all be accessible to anyone who acquires a piece of that particular form of chuubanite, as long as they know how to activate the properties.
2. Chuubanite interactions follow the laws of physics as we know them, and in case of there being exceptions, these exceptions ought to be well defined and understood before they are canonized.
2.a. This is done in order to prevent cheeky applications of chuubanite from fucking up the setting through breaking of important laws of physics. No energy may be created or destroyed, speed of light may not be exceeded, perpetual motion machines cannot be created, and (total) entropy (in the universe) cannot be lowered through application or use of chuubanite magic.
2.a.a. Things that are at the moment seemingly impossible but do not technically break laws of physics should be fine though. Folding of space and forming of wormholes (portals) should not be impossible in my opinion, but I definitely would not want this sort of magic to be common or widely used at all. If portals are to be a thing, I think they should be a very rare natural phenomenon, an almost miraculous occurrence, not anything a mortal can open on a whim. This is for the obvious reason that easily useable portal tech or magic would immediately break the setting by making traveling trivial, and by extension, making geographical distance and geographical barriers (any form of geography really) completely irrelevant FOR ANY purpose, including resource and city placement. This would quickly turn the world very boring.

>Proposed general laws part 2
3. Chuubanite deteriorates over time if left without proper care. This deterioration can be either permanent or reversible. If latter, the act of restoring chuubanite should not be a task that can be done easily and/or cheaply.
3.a. This deterioration can take on may forms. My personal proposal is that chuubanite passively radiates energy into its surroundings in the form of heat, light, and some sort of magical energy. The rate at which this radiation occurs is proportional to the surface area of the chuubanite object. As chuubanite radiates, it slowly loses mass (this loss of mass could be noticeable, or it could follow E = mc^2 in which case it would not be noticeable to anyone without access to very sensitive measuring instruments) until at some point the chuubanite has lost its available energy and it becomes what is essentially an inert rock.
3.a.a. There could be ways to slow down the rate at which a chuubanite object radiates away its energy. More on this later.
3.a.b. There should be no way to increase the rate of radiation outside of increasing the surface area of the object or the very specific (and limited) methods detailed in “chuubanite magic” section. This is so that chuubanite cannot be used in the making of nuclear weapons or their equivalent.
4. Chuubanite should not become the optimal solution to everything. Normal technology should be able to compete with chuubanite magic to certain extent, and in some cases, it should be able to outperform chuubanite magic. For example, in the case of using chuubanite as a propellant in guns, gunpowder would be just as, if not more, effective while also being cheaper. In the case of using chuubanite to power machinery, conventional power sources such as waterwheels and coal have the advantage of, again, being cheaper, but also not deteriorating over time like chuubanite does.
4.a. If chuubanite outperforms conventional technology in every, or most, applications, then conventional technology becomes useless, and the setting becomes a high magic fantasy, as now chuubanite ought to be used everywhere and in everything. This could be avoided by making chuubanite exceedingly rare though. In that case, chuubanite would become a sort of McGuffin or a too central of an element to the world in my opinion, since now everyone should be obsessively looking for even the smallest of shards of the stuff.

>Types of chuubanite
Chuubanite can take on many forms, but the form of chuubanite you would mine from the ground is a relatively harmless and a stable one. Some anons have suggested that the raw chuubanite ore is unstable, while the refined forms are more stable. I think that an opposite idea would be better, where the raw chuubanite is safe to handle, but the refined forms are either dangerous or unstable by themselves, or the process to make them is a very dangerous or expensive. This is to help level the playing field between the more technologically advanced societies and more primitive ones. An advanced society would likely be able to turn an unstable raw chuubanite into useful refined goods far easier than a primitive civilization could. This would effectively lock primitive societies completely out of any chuubanite magic or technology since these societies would not be able to plausible handle raw chuubanite. So instead, I propose that the raw basic form of chuubanite is a stable, and the process of refining raw chuubanite into more advanced forms is dangerous with a lot of risks. From a balance perspective this would make sense: Chuubanite is useful to anyone, but those willing to take additional risks are rewarded with more powerful and useful forms of chuubanite. What these forms are should be up for discussion, but in general I think a more powerful form would have to mean a more costly and dangerous refining process.

As for the raw chuubanite, it would naturally come in forms as various as the chuubas themselves. There could additionally be a neutral type, a form of chuubanite that does not have an affinity towards any chuuba. This form of chuubanite could still have some of the basic magical properties that are discussed later on in this text, just no chuuba-related magics.

that still doesn't fix the fundamental issue I was dressing by changing the borders in the way I did, that being that simply switching /Rose/ and /Lazulight/ will pose far more issues down the road when we eventually get a Lazu rep. Lazu has a tropical mermaid, and a forest fairy, so ideally they would be somewhere with tropical rainforest. Elira isn't so region specific since there's sky everywhere. Putting Lazu in a place where there's no forest, and where the water is the furthest thing from tropical, will just dump the issue /Rose/ is having now on who ever the future rep of Lazuis.

I've been pushing for, specifically 1652 - 1877. It gives me wiggle room to put in things like Spencers, Longbows, brigandine, and make it all make sense. Why?

In 1652, the Russians began sending expeditions via the Cossack hordes to seize the Amur Valley and take it from the Qing. In response, the Qing depopulated the region moving the people further south, digging trenches, building shipyards, and massing troops at Nigguta. It was the gunpowder war in East Asia AFAIK, since the Koreans sent several hundred musketeers (at the time, they were phasing out archery and experimenting with repeater firearms), the Chinese were copying Dutch muskets and French artillery, and the Cossacks were, well, actual Europeans with state backing. So we get the early gunpowder age here.

1877 is the year immediately after Custer got whipped at Little Big Horn, and people began actively improving early machine gun technology. Not sure if we'd be using Gatling or Agar Guns proper, but we definitely have self-contained brass cartridges for use in something like the 1847 J.R. Nichols gun. Maybe a faster firing Puckle Gun. Not sure.

So I do have a question about Chuubanite in the proposal. Is the "ore" is stable because the Chuubanite already "bonded" with impurities to make it stable? When Chuubanite is raw and impure it becomes a stable. When more refined the Chuubanite looks to bond with other matter. So purer forms are unstable. I'm wondering if it would be possible to create either rocket fuel with a liquid/gas formula or a "gravity field" that adds or reduces the gravity of the area. The gravity field would ease /nasa/'s burden of transporting heavy objects within the station itself.

If they just want steampunk, they can be set at like ~1880, and if they want the rest of the world not to have steam (so the fact they have steam becomes one of their identifying traits), we can consider setting the era to 1830 or so. Then any imbalances can be equalised through Chuubanite/Vitubium.
