Yes, we'd be happy to trade for your hyper advanced space flour.

Do you mind us asking what it does exactly by the way? is it special? or is it just really good Flour? I'm probably going to agree regardless, just because it gives extra fluff to our fried chicken (now we can brag about it having special 1000 times filtered Sanalite space flour in it) and because I honestly don't think we actually have all that much arable land to grow flour on. I just want to know incase it could lead to some extra cool fluff

Not much of a difference other than how its preserved. We use special grinders in the bakery to grind up flour more efficiently than windmill stones. We also have self-rising flour that rises by itself. There's also cake flour thats ground more finely than normal flour for pastries. We have both whole grain flours and white flour. As for preserving it we use sealed paper bags where if you store it in a cool dry place the flour could last for years. So long as you don't poke holes in the bag or get them wet. We do have a water proof tarp to cover the bags to protect them from rain and sun. If you get your flour from elsewhere then we understand. KFP is quite a ways from the landing site.

If you're around then you can always try our bread and pastries for yourself.

Yes, seems ideal. Unlikely for a serious schism to occur except in rare cases, and even then it can probably be worked out within each respective general rather than muddying up this one
>Purely realistic or Fantasy?
Some fantastic elements could help the creative juices flow, but going all-in on high fantasy is begging for more autistic techno/magic ruleset arguments that'll destroy threads. So far /nasa/ has trade partners with /who/, /rrat/ (though offerings of peace), KFP, and /ggg/. We still need to negotiate a trade route through /uuu/ for /who/. And I think KFP has their own routes. We should be able to till enough land to get a bumper summer crop of wheat. We'll have to bake and preserve pastries for long distance trading. And the wheat will be bagged as well. We should have enough crops in the greenhouse to last a second winter unless Mozzies sabotage shit again. /who/'s potatoes and cattle should help us through the winter. And if KFP likes our bread then perhaps we can ask for a few chickens.

There's talks about sugar beets in the south. That and maple syrup would work well for our sugar supply. With sugar, egg, and dairy comes ice cream that we can sell locally. Still have to forage the native flora for possible medicines. And we still need to prepare a quarry. At least we have some food and trade secured. Even if it means working around the clock. Morale is quite high as this is a change in life Sanalites need before Sana returns. We're still faced with the dilemma that Sana's return is a long way off.

/clg/ milhis and geography dump, from the anon who has done literally everything else.

Notice that our borders are weird at best, and that the mountain range on our continent's borders do not delineate the frontier between /voms/ and Ayakkayoli well at all--these are not herding and grazing lands for nomads.

To the south, the border WOULD make more sense further down to the north bank of that major river, but they're not there. Why? These plains are hard to defend, and having a randomly placed border is not great for either country. Guess what? We recently modernized our armies as soon as we got flintlock technology, and have been experimenting with breechloading carbines that can fire multiple shots before reloading.

Having recently taken massive territory from /pcg/ in the wake of Queen Pippers' descent into madness, we have seized the majority of the West-Median plains and pushed the border to the sacred city of Phasmollab--hence that salient oddly close to that arc in the river. We intend, shortly, in the aftermath of greater instability, to seek further favorable readjustments and continue pushing the borders ALL THE WAY down.

To the north, the dino-riders of /voms/ were unable to gain a decisive defensive advantage against ring-socket bayonets, lighter cannons, and repeating rifles. Instead of seeking massive concessions there, we elected to focus on taking a strip of territory built around the Spreadbench peninsula, integrating the new conquests into the Theme of Amarikiya and using them as a springboard for trading more intensively with /ccu/. The northern "Magnet" gulf around which their Monoenara Praefecture has been organized is our next target, we intend to push across and take a narrow coastal zone up to the gulf's midpoint.

How has Ayakkayoli increased its territory by a third in the last decade? Our finances are in excellent shape--though the lands taken from /pcg/ were decaying rapidly in administrative sophistication, they were densely populated and had bountiful tracts of excellent farmland. Low-intensity pitchblende, titanium, and lapis lazuli extraction existed in the area as well, far to the west. We have additionally cut down on tariffs and taxes for merchants arriving to the towns on the Spreadbench, and in the empire as a whole--often 30% or more is the damage, Ayakkayoli elects to take 20% and, depending on services rendered, decrease it to even 10%. In this fashion, many more merchants have begun operating in our lands, skilled craftsmen too. We are now net exporters.

Our armies were formerly comprised mostly of heavy infantry, longbowmen, and melee cavalry, armored like knights, with the occasional harquebusier amongst the ranks. Not anymore. Much like the OTL Hullyeon Dogam established by the Joseon, we have consolidated and centralized the process of training and equipping our cavalry and gunpowder troopers. Heavy armor is gone--we have begun mass-producing sleeved brigandine coats. Our melee cavalry now move faster and look much like the AoE3 Hussars, and receive ALL equipment and mounts from government-owned ranches and warehouses. (think 40K Mordians on horseback with sabers, lances, flintlock pistols, and pink uniforms). Our dragoons wear much the same and have been organized into their own regiments with repeating breech-loader carbines and sabers. This has made the army more mobile and professional overall, and increased our knowledge base for making war. Our musketeers are trained to move fast and reload even faster. In particular, Ayakkayoli's musketeers are drilled HARD so they can counter-charge enemy cavalry and skirmishers whilst retaining formation, firing at close range with bayonets fixed. Our cavalry, artillery, and rifle regiments provide screening for these men at the core of the battle line. When needed, our pikes and heavy swordsmen work to clear ffeld fortifications and trenches. Ayakkayoli loves combined arms.

Also, our country is divvied up in some kinda knock-off of the Byzantine theme system--the central government trains and dispatches a regional army of uniform size known as a tagma--all of whom are composed of the same units in the same proportions. Internal trade makes sure that both soldiers from poorer and richer provinces have the same brigandine, the same muskets/rifles/greatswords, etc. Each of these armies is responsible for provincial defense. Each theme, however, must recruit the soldiers for its army, with excess volunteers being rerouted as necessary--in times of peace, each theme fields a single tagma. When going on the defense, reservists are called up--each theme is expected to muster at least a second full reserve tagma, hopefully of equal quality to the first, though this is impractical.

Currently, these four tagmata are the most active: Amarikiyan, Alchemilic, Oumiyan, and Exegentic. They are continuously deployed for frontier defense--their duties make them best used to launch probing/retaliatory raids; they remain, in force, within the Empire's borders at all times (or as often as possible).

On the attack, the Empire noticeably fields smaller, less cumbersome armies--rarely will an invasion force comprise of formations exceeding those of the Utanic, Canichoral, and Momosfikonian tagmata, plus the Imperial Guard units brought along on campaign. Touavgon, Mavrikoukleion, and Satonikon all keep their tagma as, basically, divegrass midfielders. If a MASSIVE push on either defense or offense is needed, we throw them in. they were instrumental in securing and taking the former /pcg/ lands, and it's likely we'll transfer the Satonic Tagma to the frontier once we finish setting the border at the southern river, and carve out Thema Ayania.

I would like to COMPLETELY occupy /voms/, but I need a subject buffer state between us and /tsun/, since we can't just...annihilate those slug-fuckers, Holo(live)domor-style.

Perhaps /pcg/ can finish handing over their northern territories, and we help them take some of the southern lands of /vsj+/? Those are more easily defensible, we both shorten our frontiers at the expense of the regional hegemon.

Why yes, we are imperialist jackasses. Proposed border changes over time. Natural borders now make more sense. We further weaken the continent's hegemon, give PCG some better commercial lands and shorten THEIR vsj+ border. The end goal is to carve up /tsun/ into a rump state between /clg/, /indie/, and /ppg/. /pcg/ is totally welcome to swallow up 774 if they so wish.

That appealing, long coastline with easy access to four specialized generals. We get LOTS of immigrants from /Ñ/, and they have a long, decorated history of service in the Momosfikonian Tagma, we'd love to have more of them. If /pcg/ accepts the territorial concessions, we will give their merchants increased privileges on their way to trade with /yah/ plus the holos, and favor their chartered companies alongside our own for neo-colonial commercial initiatives/exploitation on the people of /tsun/. They're running out of serfs; in exchange for a fucky northern border, we're happy to begin eating at /voms/, and raid the shores of /tsun/, /pyon/, and /wvt/ for chattel labor.

Ayakkayoli is...not Germanic. Not strictly. We come from a HEAVILY "Romanized" (Or Holonized, whatever it may be) subject people of HoloLive, specifically refugees/colonists from the lands that became /hlgg/, Watson, the Gen V splits, NijiEN. On the way, we picked up some influence culturally from /wvt/, but not many of their people. This happened towards the end of the Great Split, view us as, perhaps, taking inspiration for our origins from the Vlachs, Aztecs, Persians, and Neo-Assyrians. When we arrived and set up the Despotate of Canichora, we quickly began assimilating many of the not!Germanic, not!Avar, not!Sarmatian, not!Slavic tribes milling about in the wake of 774's collapse. Those who did not end up in our orbit eventually became, specifically, /pcg/, /pkg/, /tsun/. We made the local tribes culturally in communion with us, encouraging /ñ/ immigration, and establishing a military in the face of what appeared to be unwarranted aggression from other tribes of the people we had just mixed peacefully with and integrated! (Turns out one of our early leaders made a racist joke about some dead /tsun/ leader and we, for whatever reason, were singled out for using more prostitutes as spies than the other countries) Centuries of back-and-forth war ensued--/voms/ was an ancient polity of ethnic connection to the old 774 power, we chose not to fuck with them at first. Naval skirmishes with /tsun/ abounded. /ppg/ rebuffed our trade offers, and the border stalled not too far from the north of the two rivers between us and /pcg/.

And then guns showed up. We were already the only party on the continent who bothered with doing shit like writing strategic manuals, standardizing/centralizing how armies were raised, etc., we were just small. Some regional satraps over at /indie/ had apparently found a few old war treatises? We started an officer's school just to teach out of the smuggled copies we got our hands on, and we would like to point out that our intel says /moon/, /haha/, and /rose/ adopted the teachings within at the same time. (OOC: that's who plays rts and gsg) /kfp/ took a view of these manuals and really only adopted their advice at the squadron and battalion level--they got real good at caravan guarding, small raids, picket/skirmish lines, and battles with a few hundred soldiers on each side. But not much else.

When mass infantry became a general world-wide thing much the same way as it did during the Chinese Warring States period, and like late-medieval Europe OTL, we were poised to exploit the simultaneous development of gunpowder--a cultural exchange between us and /haha/ resulted in our combined efforts producing the first crude DRAGOON tactics (OOC: Selen and Lumi play RTS that's literally it), which spread rapidly to the other nijien splits...and not to OUR neighbors, because fuck us, right? Why would we ever invent useful shit? Only /pkg/ tried this out, and fewer than a fifth of their military leadership got on board--to this day, only their elite Sundemon life guards fight like our normal cavalry troopers. Well, turns out foot archers don't do nearly as well against light cavalry if you outrange them with carbines.

Anon I've been praising the infinity lore time and again, people haven't been complaining that you have military, but rather that your military would be too advanced and give you too much of an edge. clg has used byzantine-based themes and are in line with the global average tech level, from what I've read, unlike having steam, internal combustion engines etc.
In any case, from the discussions in the last thread and this one, you're likely to get your desired tech, though you may need to revise your lore to contain low fantasy elements, as that seems to be the prevailing option as well.

'Tis a quiet Moon Day morning at the borders of /meat/ and /hfz/.
The gold armor clad champion stretches his legs and takes in a deep breath. The cavity on his armor exposing his bountiful pecs for the world to see. His titanic figure dominates over the civilian merchant carriage in front of him as he hunch over.
"You are clear to pass, citizen!" his booming voice almost shatter the carriage's window, the driver shaken as he takes back his work papers from the border guard. Signaling his steed, his steeds trot his carriage into /meat/ territory.
The herculean border guard salutes the merchant, for his venture into foreign lands will contribute to trade and commerce. "Have a safe journey, friend! GLORIOUS!". Unbeknownst to him, the frightened merchant whips his horses to go faster, until the lumbering warrior is out of sight.
The guard turns around, even at 4 meters high, he sees not a single carriage on the road. For now he is all alone.
Not quite. There is someone else.
Staring at him just behind the chain-link border gate of /meat/. Their border guard stands at a mere 2 meters, draped in thin armor, cloth, and his face covered with a ritualistic mask.
"Ah! Good morning, friend! I see the merchant was your first visitor for today?" the titanic champion asked the harrowing figure. He nods in agreement. "Ah-ha! Glorious! It's not everyday we'd get this little customers! Just out here in the wilderness, enjoying nature at its greatness!" the muscular border guard kneels on his knee and carefully pets a macaw perching on a tree.
The hooded guard nodded in return, petting the sleeping octo-viper dangling from the wooden roof of his office.
"Say, old friend! It's been a while since we last spar! Now that we are alone, don't you think it's time we stretched these rusted legs of ours?!" the golden guard asks with glee. The hooded guard was taken back by the question. He quickly points to the small lake Northeast of their post. A crater from their last spar.
"Oh that! What's a little spar without some good old COLLATERAL-DAMAGE! Besides! Any destruction of property on my side of the border is compensable... for me!" the valiant titan boasts as he flexes his muscle. The hooded figure slumps in defeat and gave a shaky thumbs up, agreeing to his decision.
"Now tally-ho, friend! Let's not keep the goddesses waiting! What's our wage for today should one of us bend the knee?" he asks. The /meat/ guard opens his cabinet and places a glass jar on his work desk. A jar of
"-BY SLACK! Kronii Milk! That thing is banned in this region! How did you-" before the muscleman could finish, the hooded guard placed a finger gently on his mask where the lips would be.
"Alright. Now put them up, chum! On three! One! Two! Thre-" and before he could finish, a web thorn covered tendrils erupted out of the ground he stood on.
The spar has begun.

It's another quiet day as the denizens of /hfz/ continue to toil and labor maintaining the streets and the facilities in preparation for OP's return. Too long has it been since the last show, when the borders of /hfz/ had been opened for tourists. The return of OP happens without warning, announced by the scribes who monitor the sacred texts delivered by blue birds. These sudden proclamations can happen in two weeks, or in two months - which behooves the citizenry to make sure the realm is ready to receive the viewing audience.

A child is sweeping the streets with his father, a man well past his prime and is showing the weathered ruggedness of a man who has lived a full life. He hums as he sweeps the dust and stray leaves on the street, a tune that can be heard softly for anyone roaming the lands.

"I won't give in... I won't give in..."

The child carries the rucksack halfway filled with dead leaves and litter, picking up any spots his father doesn't realize is left unattended to. The child wipes the sweat off his brow under the hot noonday sun and calls the man's attention.

"Father?" he says, stamping down the insides of the sack to make room for more leaves.

The man continues sweeping, "Yes, my son?"

"My friends from /meat/ and /vspo/ told me that the rumblers do not engage in real fights, that it's nothing but theatrics and tomfoolery. Is that true?"

The man pauses, looks at his son and gives the child a smile. "Well, what do you think about the rumblers?"

"The rumblers fight each other all the time, and sometimes they even bleed. They certainly look like they're in pain whenever they face each other in the arena, but I notice that they never seem to have serious injuries after their matches, and when they come out again in the next show, they're always so... pristine looking. Does that mean they're not fighting for real? They're not real warriors?"

The man gives an amused chuckle before continuing to sweep the streets, "That's true. So my next question for you would be, what do you consider to be the 'real fighting' these 'real warriors' do?"

"I've heard stories of great feats from /meat/ raiders and /vspo/ marksmen. They've also got actual trophies and spoils to show for it, everyone else in the realm either respects or fears them... so is that what real fighting is? Being strong or skilled enough that you become the best in the battlefield, driving your enemies before you, and leaving a pile of the casualties in your wake?"

>> No.19313028

>>19312981
"Indeed, that certainly does seem like what a great warrior would do, wouldn't it?"

"So what of the rumblers then, father?"

The man ushers his son over to a nearby bench to rest. He takes a big breath of the summer breeze as he offers the boy water as a short respite from the day's labor.

"It's true that the rumblers emphasize theatrics and showmanship. That is deliberate. You see, son, when the massive amounts of people come to watch our rumblers fight in the ring, they are not there to witness profound martial skill or fierce athleticism. Just looking at the rumblers tells them that they are already built to be great fighters."

"What we come to the show to witness is the meaning behind the fights in the show the rumblers put for us. Do you remember The Reaper's performance during that one tournament? How she went from the rumbler everyone was sure wouldn't make it past the first round, yet she went out taking the fourth place after a spectacular performance? How about everyone cheering on Rice-su recently after it felt like she was FINALLY going to get her first victory?"

"Son, the rumblers are there to show us what every warrior in history is unable to tell the realm. That to achieve victory, great warriors of this land sacrificed, bled, and suffered for their achievements. We show stories of perseverance, making difficult choices, and striving for success in mastering our craft. We are creatures of stories, son. That is how we advanced as a civilization, stories that shape our morals and virtues and what guides us to go on through our life.

Not everyone can be born with the talent and physique to express their skills as a warrior. However, the virtues the rumblers show in the arena are a universal language. The octopean painter of /hlgg/, the carpenters of /ybc/, they too can appreciate the things they see in our arenas. In fact, even orientals from a faraway place, those that have nothing in common with us, and can't even communicate with us, they continue showing up for our shows. Because they know the importance and the power a good story has. That is why we defend, son. Until the end."

The child purses his lips to one side as he tries to comprehend his father's words.

"Don't overthink it child, you'll understand some day. Now, how about we go back to maintenance, hm?"

Yes. Lumi fucks dogs (specifically dobermans because somebody wrote a fapfic with five of 'em). These Doberpeople are culturally and genetically descended from the Bubbian tribes of similarly upright-canids from the Watson split's lands; they came as part of the initial wave of settlers. Part of the reason we are so centralized so early is because we needed a way of quickly and efficiently making sure the Doberpeople within our lands could meat the meat/no-cereals requirement of their diets.

what i'm picturing in my head right now regarding /vspo/ is that they would have modern to futuristic grade technology even if we decide to go for a medieval fantasy setting.

they would be balanced by having a massive storm circle encircling their country, making it impossible for them to pass through on even with their technological capabilities.
the only way for them to leave is to board a very small airship with a max capacity of 60 people, and passengers are unable to carry armor/weapons with them due to the load limit on the ship. instead of passengers, these ships might be used for trading and carry loot in boxes.
these airships sacrifice a lot in order to traverse over the storm circle, so they would only be able to travel to neighboring countries.

So what's the general consensus of Chuubanite so far? Have we decided on any hard rules? My idea of Chuubanite is that it is a very unstable alchemical element that when combined with other "energies" enhances them. Its used in gunpowder to healing tonics. Just need to put limits on how it can be used and how it loses energy once mined.

Stable Chuubanite would be it bonding with metal, plant saps, living organisms, water, etc. The unstable stuff is purer because its looking for something to bond with. You obviously don't want to touch it with your bare hands because it will bond with your hands producing heat thar melts your hands. Alchemy in the 1700s was dying down, because at that time natural mineral science was really starting to kick off.
Very early chemists (Antoine Lavoiser, Henry Cavendish, Joseph Priestly, Carl Scheele) were doing research about now. This is when nitrogen and hydrogen were discovered (for reference the periodic table was made in the 1800s).
Alchemy was more of a medieval thing. In the 1700s, people generally knew science was a thing and that witches and alchemists weren't real, but people could also be superstitious.

Naval Buff anon here, the fears about steamships are completely overblown, especially if the the ones in this game are based on early models.
First, I am working under the assumption that the main purpose of nautical travel in this world is trade.

The main stay of most trading fleets in the 18th century would be an East Indiaman (Although there was no set size for these) or the Galleon. They would all be Full-rigged regardless. The average speed of these ships would be 7-10 knots depending on conditions.
The first steamboats used paddlewheels and because of their size and power, were relegated to lake, river and sometimes coastal travel. As steam technology was improved, and became more reliable, they were applied to larger, ocean-worthy ships. These ships could operate between 8-10 knots in normal conditions.
However, the early ocean-worthy steamships were hybrids, both a sailing ship and steamer, because they could not carry enough fuel and only used the steam engine during calm weather, and were not able to use the sails to produce enough speed. There is also another reason why early steamships made for poor trading ships. The engine and fuel required to run it would take up a majority of room in the ship's hold, and there would not be enough space remaining to carry commercial cargo . Whereas a sailing ship does not require an engine, nor fuel to run it, so it can maximize space in it's hold. There is also the issue of operational distance, because a steamship would need to either be able to make a trip and return to its home port, or find a friendly port that has coal to refuel.
So even though steamships are less dependent on wind patterns, they are not in any way game breaking to the world economy due to the fact they run at similar speeds and are resource hungry.

>> No.19332344

/nasa/ unfortunately does not have the infrastructure to build ships. We barely have enough people to farm with our machines. And when the machines break they're scrap metal. We could comission a port to be built with enough money. However its likely that whoever we can comission to build the port will also want the land. Which means /nasa/ will need to consider if its worth building the port ourselves or to sell the land. But then /nasa/ doesn't know if the world considers them invaders or not. We might not even have claim to the land we crashed in the first place.

>> No.19332882

A good chunk of /nasa/'s station hull is steel, titanium, and aluminium alloy. /nasa/ cannot make warships nor trade ships without people and machines. However I was wondering if it would be acceptable to hammer together some small fishing boats out of aluminium scrap. They won't have engines. They'll have small sails and paddles. As long as it floats it works for fishing. If /nasa/ does wind up making a port then they would make wood frame aluminium ships. They should be light enough to sail and be versatile enough to retrofit motors later on. They'd still be too light for steam tech. Of course aluminium trade ships aren't happening for at least 3-5 years. Fishing boats are possible by hand.

Since you're here, would you mind me asking about the state of naval boarding during the aforementioned period? /nasa/ Principal's Log:
We managed to till the fields for wheat as planned. The soil is naturally fertile so no fertilizer will be needed. It has been two weeks since Sana broadcasted. Because of this morale has been lower than usual. Fewer people have been showing up to services for Sana. It seems the Mozzies have taken control of communications again. I did all that I could for our goddess. However if we don't get a signal soon then our station will further drown in despair. Alcoholism is on the rise. We had to put alcohol on restricted consumption to help prevent Sanalites drinking on the job.

We've managed to recover a good piece of the station's hull. We can use the station's power to heat up the aluminium alloy to fold it into fishing boats. While we do not have a solution for steel or titanium yet we can still work aluminium for building materials. Prospecting is not going as well as we hoped. It seems most of our metal will have to be recovered from scrap.

While we still have tasks to do work has taken a plunge. Many of us are lost without Sana. And many workers, myself included, has taken more days off than we should with video games, music, film, and other media. There are some days where even I do not feel the need to play games. I'm not sure how a clockwork ironcald would work, but if you're talking about early ironclads from the American Civil War. Those are not game breaking at all.
While against normal wooden ships, they have a distinct advantage with their armor, they have many drawbacks. The biggest being that they have extremely low freeboards (The waterline to the upper deck level) which meant they were not ocean worthy as the ocean waves would swamp the ship. (In fact, this is what sank the USS Monitor.) As a result, ironclads were restricted to inter-coastal waterways (rivers and lakes) and coastlines. And while the ironclad are heavily armored, the hull below the waterline was still wood. Making them extremely vulnerable to torpedoes and mines as the heavy armor would become a liability in sinking the ironclad faster if there was a hull breach. (This happened with the CSS Albemarle)
There's also the fact they were slow, with the Casemate ironclad moving at only 4-5 knots, so they could not be used as interceptors and would need to be at or close to a battle to be able to influence the outcome.
A better way to describe the early ironclads is that they were less ships, and more steam-powered heavy batteries.
The only variable for world building I'd consider is that ironclads used screw propellers instead of paddlers, however at this time, even screw propeller steamships were still hybrids for the aforementioned drawbacks mentioned in the previous post.
I would say early ironclads are balanced if people are worried about them taking over the world. Most of them would just sink the moment they hit inclement weather while on the open ocean.

Navel boarding tactics were relatively simple where you either using grappling hooks and lines to keep the ships side by side to jump over, or you'd use various small boats to ferry your boarding party over. But the close quarter fighting was brutal and included everything from firearms, blades and grenades. As you mentioned, boarding during the 18th century was common for commerce raiding where privateers were given prize money from bringing in enemy merchant ships and their cargo intact. It was also used for capturing enemy ships during times of war if the weren't already being scuttled to avoid capture.

I was coming around on ironclads anyway but that sealed it. I do still think it'd be cooler if they were made with specialised clockwork that'd be impossible to reverse engineer but infinity didn't seem to like the idea

>> No.19371370

My name was Takeus Longclock, enlightened scribe of Infinity. My search for knowledge led me from nation to nation, from kingdoms to empires, far from home. It was in the last place I expected, amongst so called barbarians, that I found the answer to divinity itself.

It is in the flesh. It is in the blood. The bone. The sinew. When I came home to my motherland, when I heard the ticking of a thousand clocks as my sloop neared the shore, I felt a fire in my heart. I had learned so much while I was away, and it was finally time to teach my brothers and sisters the way to the light.

I had not realized those who now ran Infinity were so keen on keeping us in the dark. When I made portfall, an inspector searched my ship, demanding to see my manifest and everything I carried with me. Indignant, I explained I was a celebrated courstman, a scholar, that this was beneath me, but he paid me no mind. He took one look at my cargo, that blessed wine and meat, and asked me for my permits. Since when did we need permits for personal belongings? Before I knew it, I was being dragged out by armed thugs, through my own city's like I was a common crook.

I was thrown into a communal cell with some lowlifes, and for hours I clung to the bars and demanded to see the chief scribe. He could clear my name. They know I'm on an important mission, I needed to spread the good word! The schizoronies in the cell with me laughed at my vain attempts, but they were an ignorant bunch. What could they know of my quest? It wasn't until evening that more guards came, pulling me out of that cell. I thought they had come to free me.

I was wrong. The guards said nothing as they dragged me out and down the stone hall, past increasingly harrowing sights of dilapidated cells and emaciated prisoners. When I asked what was happening, the look of disgust in their eyes and the snarl on their lips told me everything I needed to know.

They figured out where I got the veal and the wine. And they were going to imprison me for it.

Such ignorance.

I was thrown haphazardly into the cold flagstone floor of a dimly lit cell, all to my lonesome. I said nothing as they shut and locked the iron door, heavier and more secure than the one I was previously held behind. Was this my fate? To waste away in the dark corner of this prison, never to share what I've learned? Was this the reward for my quest? What has happened to my home, once the bright beacon of knowledge and learning?

I waited hours in the dim hole they locked me in, silent and waiting. I do not know what I was waiting for, but I waited all the same. I could hear the opening and closing and locking of iron gates, the distant footsteps of the enforcers, and I tried to listen if they'd come closer. They never did, not until the pitch black night with only the moonlight slipping past the bars of my cell to illuminate what little I could see.

Footsteps, heavy. More than one person. The jingling of keys. It came closer and closer. A part of me prepared to lunge at whoever it was that was coming, to sink my teeth into his neck and worship the heavens one last time before the enforces rain bullets on me. Footsteps. Closer, closer. Stopped. Unlocking. My heart was beating out of my chest. The steel dragged across the stone, opening to reveal a cloaked and hooded figure with two guards behind him. He waved them off, and if the guards had any objections to leaving an unarmed man alone with, what they assumed to be, a wild cannibal barbarian, they didn't voice them. As soon as that door closed behind them, it was just me, and that mysterious figure.

Truth be told, I did not have the courage to fly at him, to fight, to kill. I stayed seated on that stone, trying to see his features in the dark, under his hood.

"You've been gone a long time, Takeus," he told me. He kept his hands behind his back, looking formal. I think I could see the insignia of the scribe brotherhood on his cloak.

"Do I know you?" I asked, voice neutral. He knew my name, and appeared to be a learned man like myself. Perhaps he was here to help.

"I'm but a humble scribe, like yourself," he said with a playful tone. "I heard of your return and came as quick as I can... I'm sorry for the lack of hospitality. Infinity has changed since you were last here. All these new laws, permits, licenses... But you're not just being kept here for not having permits. You know that, right?"

I swallowee a ball of spit. So my suspicions were true. Was this an interrogation? I kept my mouth shut and kept my eyes trained on the floor, but the scribe kept talking.

"Takeus, you've made contact with some... very interesting peoples. Cultures that the government is quite interested in. Do you remember the Ourobros?"

I looked up at him, immediately recognizing the name. "The apostates? Those heretics who spit on our culture?" When I was last here, the Ourobros were a fringe group of schizos who decried the ways of our Takeshi ancestors, and called for a reform in the worship of the Kroniissiah.

"The very same," the scribe said with a nod. "They've become bolder. More... organized." He tilted his head to the side before continuing. "They've stolen an ironclad and tore up half of the Schizotraz. It's chaos in the correction facilities."

"By the Kroniissiah," I muttered. Word of the happenings of Infinity did not leave its shores, and so I expected some changes to surprise me. But never this. "How did they even steal one of our most guarded ships?"

The scribe completely sidestepped my question. "We managed to fire at the stolen ship enough to disable the clockwork engine and immobilize it. But it's still essentially a fortress guarding the coast of Schizotraz. Yes, we could keep firing at it until it's smithereens... but command wants that ship back in one piece."

I wait in silence for him to continue. How does any of this relate to me or my journey.

"They want to have you corrected, you know. They think you're a schizo that needs to be fixed. I imagine you've had a taste of... things we consider taboo. I imagine you want to continue that lifestyle without the zealots that now run our home to force you to change. If you help me, I can make sure people look away."

"... Who *are* you?" I ask the mysterious figure.

"I told you, I'm a scribe," he responded with a chuckle. "But it is not important either way. I'm offering you a chance to help Infinity with the knowledge you've acquired, and in return a chance to live in the new ways you've come to appreciate unfettered. Do you accept?"

Personally, not too sure about the semi-living musket and the mask. I think it would make more sense for /meat/ to use (inorganic) white arms to better control the damage dealt. I also think it's better to stick with human face mask than jade? mask myself.

It was snowy, so far up north. I knew the snow never stopped falling here, at least that hadn't changed since I was last at Schizotraz. The waters ahead led us to the immobile ironclad, guns pointing to the shore of Infinity. The schizos were holding the nearest towns hostage, under threat of cannon fire. But never be the one to take the schizo at his word that he won't change his mind. Our boat glided silently across the cold waters effortlessly, silently, as did all the boats behind ours. I was never a combatant before, but I cannot lie and say I was not looking forward to this with a nervous glee.

"We're close. I see a few guards," the burly man said behind me in his native accent. I could see a schizoronie in the stolen uniform of an enforcer, carrying a rifle and standing guard at the bow of the ship. With a nod of the man's head, an arrow whizzed by before sticking itself into the guards neck, felling him instantly. My only complaint was that I was not able to hear the song of his death gurgle.

The men in their thick leathers and furs took the last swigs of their Kronii Milk, generously donated by my anonymous benefactor. I could already see them become more invigorated by it's holy properties. The captain spoke to the others in their native tongue, in hushed tones. When our boat was close enough, men began to swing grappling hooks on ropes up to the ship, and began climbimg it effortlessly. I double checked that my pistol was loaded before joining them. In the dead of the night, it was too dark to see us. It was too quiet to see us. When I saw their leader, his eyes transfixed to the stars, I took aim. The poor sod was possessed by the spirit of the Jesse, I was doing him a favor...

My shot rung out like lightning from the goddess. He clutched his chest and stumbled back, as the captain drew out his axe and whooped a war cry. The meat barbarians have come, and they were hungry. A guard turned and was met with a knife in his gut, twisting and disemboweling him. The slosh of his organs against the floor of the deck was muffled by his scream. Another guard took aim at the nearest barbarian and loosed a bullet at him... Then another... He loaded a third but was interrupted by an axe in his cranium. The barbarian paid no mind to his injuries, simply licking the axehead and moving unto the next target. Screams filled the night sky, drowned out by the merriment of the foreign warriors. The waters of Schizotraz ran red. Their hunger was satiated.

As for myself, I walked up to the fallen leader, hands shaking with excitement. He sat with ragged breath, calling for help that did not come. I drew my carving knife, the one gifted to me by the priestess of the meatheads, as I approached. I believe he soiled himself as I came closer, as he begged for mercy. I was so excited to get to work, I had neglected to slit his throat first like I was supposed to. He struggled for all he was worth as i slid the blade under his cheek, screaming and drowning in blood as I carved off his face. It was not easy, and I was embarrassed at my poor work when I was done. Only when I held his face in my hands did I realize he yet lived - I promply fixed that with the blade through his forehead.

I arose, delighted even at my shabby work. Rough around the edges, but good enough for a first try. I'll have plenty of opportunity to try again, now that I serve Infinity in this new and exciting venture. I placed the face down unto my own, a flesh mask to terrify the enemies of my nation.

The screaming in the ship died down as the shanty songs grew louder. I knew we had succeeded. I turned to look at the victorious crowd, and the warriors all applauded my transformation. Funny, wearing this mask of another's face, I felt like it was the first time showing my true self.

As we descended from the ironclad and jumped down to the schizos entrenched in Schizotraz, to the screams of terror of the traitors before us, I sang alongside the meatheads. I was one of them. This is who I am.

My name was Takeus Longclock. But now, I am Meatronie.

Writing something for /voms/ while they're away

The hooves of his steed clopped over the rocks and sand. The gate to the city is just up ahead! The towers and roofs in sight. A sight that sent him into joy and focus. He whizzed past by the caravans and the guards. This is no time for formalities. Quickly he rode straight towards the hill in the middle of the city, where the Pika Palace lie.

On his throne sat the leader of the local Emirate. The Ba'al Emir of the Bani Pika. His eyes set upon the messenger as he scurry up the throne room's flight of stairs. The Ba'al stands up, acknowledging the presence of the messenger. The royal guards ready their spears in case this frenzied man starts doing anything suspicious. Dropping his bag aside, the messenger bowed on his knees to the Ba'al. Begging for him to listen to his word.

The Ba'al glances at the sobbing man and hand signals the guards to lower their weapons. Immediately demanding the messenger of his hasty presence in his court. The messenger instantly grabs his bag and pulls out an item wrapped in cloth.

"This came... from the Corpse, Your Excellence..." he nervously mutters the words out of his lips they were barely proper language. Slowly he unwraps the object. With a layer of cloth uncovered, the gleam of metal reflects light into the throne room. The Ba'al's eyes widened in astonishment.

The item is a fascinating contraption, a collection of metallic parts, gears, and non-standard artisanship. Akin to that of a clock, but far more complex in nature. The previous discoveries from the Corpse had greatly contributed to the advancement of his Emirate. The Ba'al is already eager to attain this new discovery. Quickly, he orders his men to form an excavation party, food and water, horses and soldiers, scholars and equipment. They will move by sunset tomorrow.

***

It has been two days of travel and they finally reached the valley. The Corpse of Monoe, as the locals named it. How such a name came to be was chronicled with great care. It was barely a decade ago, the sands suddenly flooded with rain. Tornadoes ravaged the land, and entire mountains struck by lightning. Overnight, priests and astrologers screamed in pain, the Ba'al Imam of the Imperial Capital collapsed in despair.

The Elohima of Metal, Jitomi Monoe, was slain and fell from the Heavenly Realm. With her death, the Bani Mono of this region too collapsed as the Emirate suffered from demoralization, riots, and soon a coup.

Soon after the anarchy died down, the first anomaly happened. Not far off from the Capital of the Bani Mono, lightning struck the valley of sand, a myriad of halos flashes in the sky, and with it a gargantuan vessel suddenly appeared out of nowhere. The vessel appeared to be a galleon, but curiously made of metal instead of wood and extremely far from the nearest coast. Its interior devoid of crew members nor any signs of life. Merely contraptions of advanced metal and clockwork. All free of rock, sand, and dust.

Month after month, more of these metallic objects appear in the valley. Appearing in a flash of light similarly as the last. Be they swords, carriages, or even ships. Some had clockwork, some did not. But all of them share the same nature. Objects of metal.

The locals quickly pieced together the clues. The death of the Elohima of Metal followed by the sudden appearances of metallic artifacts. This valley is a grave. Where pieces of the metal goddess are dropped from the heavenly realm.

The Ba'al get off his horse and inspects the newest addition to the Corpse. A vessel the size of a chapel. Adorned with clockwork more advanced than before. He can tell it's been here for less than a week by the thickness of sand deposited all over it. But before he order his men to set up camp, he pulls out the sword from his scabbard.

Voices! He heard voices coming from inside this vessel!

Respublika Owl / Republique Hibou / 共和国 ワシミミズク and it's Religion, this is the text detailing /who/'s base religion and how i'll be structuring it in the future, things are still subject to change of course.

On Religion:

The Republic does not hold an official religious policy to spread and is in fact, rather close to an atheist state, this is not due to a lack of deities thought, but due to the large amount of often conflicting beliefs by much of the population and the lack of material and text detailing the origin of the stories.
The Republic often steps in fights between the groups and forces them to make peace, it's in part thanks to this that the Republic is so centralized.
These beliefs do tend to have the following features in common
1. They speak about a nameless being
2. This being is related to humanity in some way
3. This being is tipically represented as a woman
4. This being is not a god

Owl Belief is not an actual religious belief, but of the commonplace relation that Owls, specifically Eagle-Owls, recieve to the Nameless being.
Polytheism isn't unheard of, specially after 2-way communications had been established with the sister nation of the Mountain monks to the east and references to each others mythology had been found, current talks with the explorers from outside the planet have yielded interesting propositions about the religious belief of all our nations. References to the religion of the mountain monks and their deity, a being of chaos that is surprisingly level headed are most numerous. The fact that the Mountain Monks hold the most unified religion aside from the far eastern islanders of /infinity/ probably influenced this. the Druids of the northern forest also hold a system of beliefs that references that of the other sister nations, but due to logistical constrains and the shifting paths of the forest, it is hard to investigate.

Many groups claim that she is formed by the collective power and intelligence of every human in existence, she is humanity itself, others however, claim that she is a reflection of humanity instead, some claim that she is civilization's mother, others that she is civilization's daughter.

The Cult of Reason stands among other cults by taking the concept of the "humanity itself" theory and pushing it to it's logical extreme, humans must grow in power and knowledge to surpass any enemies and eventually, allow the nameless being to kill the gods that constrain humanity. Many of the Republic's politicians, scientists, and military leaders form part of this cult. This does mean that they are in positions of political power and will often try to push forth scientific investigation, and less known, espionage on other nations and states.

A much more obscure and suppresed Cannibal cult exists, rising independently and before the /meat/ warriors retook the beliefs of the older world, the Cannibal cult is jingoistic and states that the nameless being is a cannibal, she shall cook the gods alive in a boiling pot and eat their soup, the cannibals believe that they must honour her by the cannibalization of the enemies of the Republic. It's members are good at hiding and only ocassionally pop up in public space, despite their jingoism, they still respect the Republic's diplomatic strategy and contain themselves and their beliefs.

Notably, many of these groups never detail whether or not an afterlife exists, and most outright deny it.

The Serene Republic of Nasfaqg is a Res Publica in the purest form of the phrase – the people’s thing. Organized as a minarchist society run by plutocrats, the de-facto government acts merely as a night-watchman, intervening when an Old Law is broken. Society is highly individualist, and a man’s worth is measured in their wealth; this, counter-intuitively, creates an atmosphere of tolerance, regardless of background or oshi, as everyone keeps it about the money. The whole country centers around a singular entity: The NASFAQ Stock Exchange on the main island.

A mysterious group known as “The Devs” runs the central NASFAQ Stock Exchange acts as the de-facto government operating from the shadows. These hooded and mysterious individuals are suspected to be behind the “black magics” running the prices and creating value ex nihilo – three of them are unnamed, with only their leader dubbed “honk” daring the operate outside of the shadows. They uphold the Old Laws, punishing arrogant traders who dared to transgress them with asset forfeiture and permanent banishment from the realm. These Old Laws primarily center around the Stock Exchange itself, leaving the country’s majority self-governing.

The Republic relies primarily on its self-proclaimed plutocrats – individuals with great wealth and significant influence. They are diverse in their goals, conduct, religions but are unified in one thing: endless hunger and craving for more and more wealth. They are earning money to earn more money, an ouroboros of a goal that pushes them towards drastic actions. Bizarre technological pursuits, complete isolation from all stimuli but numbers, or consuming copious amounts of psychoactive substances have been reported to be used as many pathways for predicting the market and beating the rivals. Morality, also known as “soul,” is a rare quality displayed amongst /nasfaqg/ plutocrats. In most cases, it only manifests as a slight attachment to their oshi, favoring her over profits. However, extreme cases of “soul” exist in cases where traders self-impose draconic limits on their ability to make a profit, curbing their never-ending hunger.

Outwardly, /nasfaqg/ residents are primarily known as active traders, smelling profits and investments before they are even able to materialize. Paired with the Republic’s lack of cohesive external policy, it makes their actions seem aimless at times, which muddies the shadowy proxy wars waged in other generals by traders who seek profit at any cost. As it is solely business, individuals who bet against opposing sides of the conflict will in many cases cordially feast and converse while their respective “investments” violently clash in bloody massacres. Despite this, at the end of the day involvement of a /nasfaqg/ plutocrat is a sign of upcoming prosperity and economic growth, even if it would mean temporary turmoil.

Also, I think that despite the name/flag it'd be easier to think of /nasfaqg/ closer to the Golden Age-era Netherlands in terms of aesthetics and things that go beyond the established lore.

Considering that you likely have individuals as wealthy as smaller threads in /nasfaqg/ it wouldn't be absurd to say that (You) can adopt whichever aesthetic for your personal estate you want. I assume that effectively /nasfaqg/ is a patchwork architecturally and thematically, but also technologically. Some traders have developed advanced mechanical computing, while others pursued different technological avenues, never sharing their findings with anyone else. It's effectively an ancap society with individuals as city-states, and smaller traders slowly rising up to that level or dying off in the process.

In a trading era long gone, the Exchange had introduced a new functionality to match the times - auctions. Yet, their operation was guided by draconic laws, taxing every step and punishing foolish traders who would wish to cancel auctions prematurely.

An Investigator, compensating with bravery what he lacked in brains, has decided to test its limits, setting up an auction and cancelling it. The (New) Old Law has been uncompromising, bombing his entire net worth into negative numbers, a feat never done before. His realm, his estate, his future, all in ruins. Yet, to this day, I remember him stating "it was pretty funny though".

It's harder than you might think. It's a non-zero sum game, meaning that technically money and value spawns into existence if you're at least somewhat competent.
Loans are (virtually) impossible, so player-to-player debt is extremely rare. Once you're out of funds, you cannot spend the funds you don't have.
Even now, going into debt requires a very specific course of action (that was previously unknown, and he just tested the limits of the new mechanic): you need to obtain the Auction's License, then set up an auction on anything with an absurd starting bid, and finally cancel that auction immediately. 50% of that bid will be deducted from your liquid, and this is the only action that can put you in debt.
Nowadays, there is a limit on the starting bid, so nothing as impressive as that feat can be achieved without cooperation of two people, or will just end up with a small debt compared to that one.
