Instead I escalated the problem with my manager, EXPLAINED EXACTLY WHAT I DID AND WHAT HAPPENED.

He escalated with the ops team which took the system offline, restored a recent backup (it's a continuous backup so the only loss was the minutes between my reporting and their restore) and I (and the ops team) got an earful about properly segmenting my accesses so I can't access production with a staging credential or vice versa.
