The game is still in a very early stage (v0.2) and the dev released like 5 new characters and weapons in a month.

You know, think what you will about the Rushia shit but Cover has shown time and again they are working against Pekora. Her birthday was botched and never got an apology, then it was almost botched again. The biggest streamer in Japan himself and his fans have harassed her for 2 fucking years and Cover hasn’t done anything. All the clickbait anti articles that were being churned out after Christmas Eve were just left there with Cover doing literally nothing about them. When I say fuck up it I view it from the talent's pow not the Companies. No the Company did great from the company's pow, they even indirectly made sure their talents know that they can get booted, Rushia being retarded enough for them to allow the powerplay option.
The option they could have gone with is in house condemnation(tell the other talent how she fucked up and why) and public graduation, have the talent that want to give her a send off to that, the fans who still want to watch her after her fuck ups get to say their good bye. They could even frame it as "this is just a nice send of for you rushia, you don't have the option to stay, this is for the other talent.".

But they chose the powerplay since they knew this would be the action they would take from the moment they started their "investigation".
Spending the time used to "investigate" to rally the company, sort out the fallout from fans, make sure all merch bought from her birthday would be refundable.
Making sure to also gain some good western pr by making the statement that they don't care about their talents having a relationship.

Great PR for strict Japanese company, shows they can handle stuff, be tough. It is however a shit way to handle it for the other talent.

first, the part that concerns this thread: I can only see this as another check mark on the list of things Pekora has been collecting in her chest against the company. And it will deeply influence her future behavior
Second, about why this happened: we have seen basically nothing super solid, but from the little that's come out, just the use of the Rushia official model for those private messages is using corporate property for a non-supervised unapproved activity, it's like I went and "secretly" ran a fucking race with the company car, even if i didn't damage it and won, and even if i had done it for a good or charitable reason, it is still outside of their regulation, making it possible as well that a bad thing can be done using those assets (like fucking crashing or killing someone with that car) and it undeniably deals backlash to the company one way or another, this is the real world, not a feel good movie after all, it's all fucking business, and it HAS to be dealt like business in order to keep functioning and preventing ideas of favoritism or misguided feelings about how close they can go over the limits of the contract and think "it's not that much, they'll forgive it", they're forced to enforce the rules or nobody will follow them, I just hope she was the only one doing such dumb stuff...
