You must really hate her current design then, because her previous designs were outlandish in a bad way. The first one looked like a backup dancer for Sharon Apple, and the second one was wearing a dress that looked like a condom over bondage gear. Also, the third design is the first one in which AZKi was able to offer input on how she wanted it to look. She wanted to be cute all along and had to wait until now to see that realized.

>> No.1886616

>>1886578
2nd design is also very iconic since it's on the cover of Re:Creating World, while you can't really see her on Without U. I like the new one as well for her more bubbley idol style, but it would look very out of place performing something like Shit Days or Fake.Fake.Fake.

I disagree. It's clear that they were really trying hard with the VIRTUAL idol concept, and so they came up with something that could never really work in reality. And why should it work in reality? The whole point of AZKi's character is (was) that it breaks the fourth wall and totally embraces the idea that she only exists on the internet like some kind of Ghost in the Shell character.

I kind of agree with this idea, but I don't think that what the previous outfits did was all that special for being virtual. The first one did look like it was something that would not function in real life, but it was stiff. The second one looks kind of cyberpunk, and it moves a bit better, but you could actually make that one in real life, and the look is more rave girl cyberpunk than digital entity. The new outfit isn't really virtual in style but I can't say the other outfits were really all that special. I do kind of miss the feel of them of the prior outfits though.

>> No.1892986

>>1892790
While they weren't outlandish, they did capture the virtual aspect much better. They also were very distinctive, compared to her newest which is just another cute anime girl wearing an idol dress. If they had kept something unique that was more eye catching then the understated warpaint and the inside of her hair being dyed pink, I would probably have loved it more. The easiest thing would have been to keep in the vein of the more unusual hairstyles that she's worn.

The first outfit being rigged like shit is a separate problem, but it's not like the current one is much better given how often she'll clip her skirt through her leg when she was walking on the stage.

>> No.1894313

>>1886081
Completely agree. It's a complete generic design compared to her past one. I wish they just gave her a new model with that design instead. It's just so good and unique.

But the "non-idol" fans love the idol desing

>> No.1905358

To be fair, she wanted something idol-esque, and a new outfit is always cool. Just needed to be better executed to avoid being so generic, since she looked great in her actual idol costume even if her arms were crazy buff.

She's one of the youngest girls, and is still one of the hardest working, with all of her streaming on top of externally facing events; most respected; and the ultimate senpai by being the one who carried Hololive into the modern golden age. She talked a bit about her relationship with the other members in a recent stream. She's close with the earlier members (0th/1st/2nd gen). She hasn't had much of a chance to develop the same kind of relationship with 3rd gen onwards since her schedule started getting a lot busier by the time 3rd gen came about. She does try her best to connect with them though e.g. she's got that radio show with Iofi, she talks with Nene a lot, she watches Watame's and Coco's singing streams, etc.

>> No.1925046

>>1925011
Yea, watching Watame and Sora pop up in each other's singing streams has been cute, though much more of the former talking in Sora's then the reverse. Sora singing a mecha song for the sheep was cute.

>> No.1925157

>>1923836
Something a lot of the new blood might not realize is that Sora is not just the first member of Hololive but also one of the first vtubers (in the context of the trend started by Kizuna Ai) period. She debuted after Siro but before Kaguya Luna and Mirai Akari, and was an underdog from the very beginning. Sora infamously had only 13 viewers on her first stream and gained her first few hundred subs through a combination of herculean effort and dumb luck. Compare this to today, when every new member gets 100k subs before they even debut. It is not exaggeration to say that she's arguably the person most responsible for building Hololive into the success that it is today, which is why Polka responded that way and all of the other members act like she's the Virgin Mary of the virtual world.

The really hilarious part in all of this is that Sora allegedly became a vtuber almost by accident. Supposedly, she was originally picked up with the intention of merely being the voice of the Cover's mascot for some AR app they were working on; however, between having little in the way of actual work due to Cover being a bunch of nobodies at the time and the appearance of Kizuna Ai, she and A-chan started streaming and wound up becoming part of history as a result.

There's plenty paying attention to the phenomenon, but Vtubing is not really all that much more unique in context - it's a combination of both virtual influencer and streamer, and there's plenty of presentations and writeups happening about all that. Internet trends rise and fall way too fast to develop anything more than a broad-scale case study.
