Reposting the Hoshiyomia lore so I can rewrite some things when I'm back at the PC and I don't have to search for it all the time

>Single solitary island nation with a massive mountain and lighthouse, with a meteorite at the top
>Lighthouse only shines when the comet appears marks her trail across the night sky, shining a stream of light into it
>Travelers are drawn to its allure, enthralled by the light from yonder over the horizon. Some even departing from their travels to pay tribute to it before leaving once more
>During times of darkness, when the stream of light has long since gone and the comet has yet to be seen, certain individuals can pop out and instigate conflict, whether willingly or not
>The nation's security is heavy-handed, yet only appears sparingly, when those with malicious intent who seek to lift the veil appear. The conflicts might get heated, but they are short-lived, often ending once the day turns over
>Many researchers have built observatories with which to observe the skies and find patterns to predict when and where the comet will appear, but so far only the heavens themselves know.
>Its inhabitants, the Hoshiyomi, stay for many reasons, some to watch from afar, some to discuss the comet's peculiarities, and some even crave the light's beauty for their own. However, the comet itself is far away and only shines its light when it suddenly appears.
>As such, the hoshiyomi can only voice their wish and hope that the heavens grant them their favor

Something an anon wrote about the Suisei general in our thread. I would add that it would be a naval nation and that the thread always stays afloat no matter the rising tides of other threads coming and going. As such, it's one of the oldest nations.
Now I would need an island or bay with mountains for the theme. The island thing is optional but it would greatly help with the isolationism the nation has. I don't know if there's an island with mountains in the hololive side or wherever the Suisei general ends up though. Flag soon™

Currently we're working on gathering materials to rebuild infrastructure. We don't know if this alien world has petroleum. But we do have some energy production with solar and wind. Hoping to trade with /who/ to obtain animals for dairy and eggs so we can bake pastries and sweets. Though we still need to find a reliable source of sugar before we can make pastries. Let's try a different approach. Rather than think of what /nasa/ could make. Let's figure out what /nasa/ has made so far. They've only been on the planet for as long as Sana's been a vTuber; about 6 months. That's just enough time to plow the lands in preparation for a summer harvest. There are some facilities like watchtowers, blacksmith, scrap yard, and mines, but no factories nor workships. If power tools exist then they can only be used near the station during a clear sunny day via solar. By now many rations and preserved food has been eaten; at least food that could have been saved. So /nasa/ needs to turn to hunting and gathering to make it until the summer harvest. Outside of space station scrap they have nothing to trade with. They do have some modern firearms for defense. However once ammo is exhausted then there's no way to make more. So /nasa/ will need to hand make guns and ammo, bows and arrows, or start practicing melee combat.

Despite having some technology /nasa/ is very poor in tradeable resources. Which means they're ripe for conquest once fuel and ammo runs out. They already have problems with Mozzies (antis) in their own ranks stealing resources after losing faith in Sana and turning against /nasa/. So its a life or death situation. Good news is that there are some nations like /rrat/ and /who/ willing to help /nasa/ grow. And in return /nasa/ will have to provide these nations with resources when they can.

Continuing. There is now a problem with the prime directive. /nasa/ has blueprints for up to space age tech but are forbidden to share it. These blueprints can be valueable trade resources. However sharing blueprints too soon will lead to a Prometheus problem of the world evolving too quickly leading to its destruction via pollution or weapons of mass destruction. Share weapons with people then eventually those people will take over you. Perhaps the next best thing /nasa/ can do is create a map of the stars. But this has already been done before so no-one cares. Sad we're starting to sound like Sana not streaming artwork.

Cannot bake bread until the wheat grows first. We will also have to build the windmills to grind wheat into flour. Plus we will need to cultivate yeast and sugar, either syrup or honey, to create fluffy bread. For pastries we need butter from milk. Which we have yet to secure. /who/ has offered to trade some livestock and potatoes. However we need materials to trade with /who/ first. Same with trading with /rrat/ for gemstones. Diamonds would be useful in making some tools. We'll also need glass and silicon later. But for now growing wheat can be a useful trade commodity.

We're in the age of exploration at least. So there's the use of gold and silver pieces to barter with. Of course other bartering options for goods exist. Trading surpluses of wheat for potatoes is an easy example. Raw crop for raw crop. Bread could be sold for copper because that's a refined good. Same with sugar and spices selling for gold coins around the world. There would also be many different styles of coins with different values. /nasa/ coins with Yatagarasu printed on them are worth differently to /who/ coins with a different pattern.

Also gold inflation can happen. Look at Japan. Counterfeit gold couns wound up being more valueable than imperial gold coins.

>> No.18786116

If we're to be pedantic, silver is more common as a medium of exchange because gold is too expensive for anyone but rich people and rulers. (even then it wasn't uncommon that multiple metals are used as currency) It's only until banknotes became common that gold standards became standard.
Personally, given the disparity of tech and economy between regions, I don't think we'll really have a world currency beyond bantering with commonly valuable material.

>> No.18786353

gold inflation is far less common than fiat inflation, or inflation of other currencies. depending on the costs of remodeling, it might be profitable to take gold coins from one group and turn them into gold coins of another. of course, that presents the risk of deflating one currency, meaning over time all gold coins should tend twards the same value.

>>18786116

I feel pretty conflicted since I can tell they put a lot of effort into the island, but on the other hand it feels unfair for the other threads who didn't get the island(s) they wanted. Also the design being inconsistent with the rest of the map really bothers my sense of aesthetics, along with the positioning having little thematic sensibility.

Anyway, thanks for the appreciation, it does help motivate me, perhaps even more than my map autism.

you lack foresight, then. islands are too popular and simplistic of a choice, our map will be radically changed if everyone who wwanted their own island got one. he is conflicted because he knows this decision is important for how these situations will be dealt with in the future, and that it must be handled with care. to be honest, it wouldn't be as much of a problem if it weren't specifically due to the fact that it is new land, and having the borders of a continent reshuffled would be easier because 1) it wouldn't be the entire continent, no matter how you restructure it, and 2) embassies allow for similar groups to interact with each other, the need to border everyone associated with you is dumb, america and england don't need to be on the same continent to be associated, why would you need to be in the same general region? you should think a bit further ahead if you can't see why it would matter.

that's besides the issue. the problem isn't that they wouldn't put effort into it, it's that they could radically change the structure of the map simply by making some blot of color and calling it their own special island. it shouldn't matter once the map has been finalized whether or not they put in effort because everyone else suddenly has to change their maps too inorder to be on the same page. if the climate is different, if trading routes are obstructed, if proximity to different regions would change how they operated, if anything changed at all for anyone then the ramifications of that would be felt by everyone.

Playing devil's advocate then.
/inf/ requested their island space extremely early on and it was listed on one of the first maps that marked territorial claims. Furthermore, they put in the effort of making their own territory and listening to feedback rather than just demand everyone else do the work for them. This makes them an exception to the rule rather than something everyone can cite as precedent if they want their own island.

It wouldn't radically change the map because they took into account the climate system with their placement of the island. Meaning the ocean current and weather systems wouldn't be affected. As for trading, there's still a major distance between Hololive territory and the small corpo and Indies. Either they can use /inf/ as a waypoint, making it easier for less advanced countries to cross the ocean, or bypass /inf/.

You could claim there was a deadline they missed but that was more nuefag just acting unilaterally to get things moving. /inf/ could easily argue that they should have been given a deadline or have someone post in their general to submit the island. /nasa/ got screwed over by this similar this lack of communication >>18802590. But the major difference is /nasa/ didn't stake out territory already. /inf/ did. You can also make the argument that the extra work required to fix the map is on nuefag acting unilaterally and just dolling out territory.

We should also look at this from reducing potential shitposting. A good majority of people here are fine with giving /inf/ their island because of the unique circumstances. But even with that, it can still be veoted by a single person. If this happens, wouldn't it just give ammo to claim that anything a group does is meaningless since nuefag can just ignore the general consensus of thread and do what he wants? I know >>18802349 is being morbid, but it does bring up a good point that people could be turned away from helping because they don't want their work thrown out by a single tripfag even if a vast majority of people like their work and want it in.

/∞/'s sitution is unique and should be treated as a unique sitution rather than precedent that other people can cite. They've already made compromises as well for their land such as decreasing the mass, which had some vocal opposition on their side, but they still went with it to placate people here. To still get rejected even after the work they put in would be seen as the ultimate bad faith move. Much worse than adding the island or the zoning timeloop since unlike zoning, they can continue to bring it up when something is discussed 'Remember when /∞/ did that thing that everyone was fine with and it still got rejected by the tirpfag?'

what should make you guys an exception is the fact that you asked before finalization. this still doesn't address the issue though. people wont care about it unless someone says definitively that the map is finalized, which requires nuefag's input. nobody on your side seems to understand, shitposters can be very dedicated, the mere fact that they put in the work shouldn't be what differentiates them, yet on and on again you keep framing it like that, and because of that you are leaving easily exploited openings that WILL cause problems for us in the future. inb4 >you just hate kronies" you guys are pretty cool again, except for that one pretensious asshole, you know who you are if you're reading this but this specific issue goes beyond you. the compromise was to let nuefag decide, he still has yet to decide. as much as anyone promised you the land, you promised to listen to him. make a compelling enough case and he will listen.

>specifically promised
you say this a lot, yet all i have seen are examples of them saying they'll consider it, or that they are open to it. surely no mention of a promise was ever had. if you show the place where someone specifically uses the word promise, this argument will be irrevelant, but otherwise you'll at least have to use a different term.

Trust me, Kronies know how dedicated shitposters can be. We've had three attempts to split /infinity/ despite multiple poals against it (54-4) and mods always pruning the secessionists. We know.

We also know that shitposters will also never fucking stop even if you prove them wrong again and again. Example above. So if you give Kronies their island in the territory promised to us (and yes, it was promised to us - we didn't carve it out ourselves, a mapanon literally gave it to us to work with) shitposters will go on about special treatment, even if you explain to them that we've earned it and it was promised to us. But on the flip side if you don't give Kronies what they want, shitposters will still shitpost, this time about how it'll never be worth contributing because even the mega autist writefags and mapfags from infinity got denied by a self appointed tripfag- AND it'll be a bad faith move that will kill any contributions from one of the more active fanbases in this general and will likely turn off other posters.

Shitposters will always shitpost. Don't bother working around them and focus on other reason why we should have the island or not.

>>18805834
>what should make you guys an exception is the fact that you asked before finalization.
And that's the exception, the was territory marked out and all the main criticisms were addressed.
You also don't understand that while shitposters will still shitpost, you wouldn't do things that make their job easier. Denying the island will make their job a metric ton easier to shitpost. To put this in terms you'll understand. Compare shitposting against Rushia after it was revealed she was living with a boyfriend. Are you seriously going to tell us that something like that would affect the level of shitposting?

And it was already on the territorial claim map, you had people making jokes it was the borg cube, and then get corrected that it was just the general area. If people really had a problem with island, they would have already complained about it back then.

You were promised nothing. You asked for it, thread said sure, you said you'll work on it and give a result. That said, his reasoning was for you to be closer to your gen, and that he doesn't really like giving threads islands, but, given you had a claim before, and I have my own disagreements with his placements (Sakuran here, still not over it), I'm inclined to veto him so you get your island.

I *am* in favour of your island and I am definitely not "fighting tooth and nail against" it. The only reason we're arguing is that you're saying you weren't warned, and I'm saying you weren't owed a warning and bear the responsibility if a deadline was missed. Nuefag's temporary placement was arbitrary, and you responded with your new island within 18 hours, so it didn't last that long.
My problem with your attitude, faggot, is that I'm agreeing with you, I'm saying that your lore, work and compromises are valid, that nuefag's placement should be disputed, that you should get your island, but it was your responsibility to update the thread earlier, and you're *still* saying I disagree with you. I'm sure you realise where we are, you're making the contrarian in me want to vote against you.
