Cover relies on tech licensed from others, while Ichikara develops their own. Cover focuses more heavily on selling the entertainment aspect of Hololive, while Ichikara partially treats Nijisanji as a showcase for their tech. While both definitely have designs for AR/VR streaming in the future (a logical step up from the dead-end that is L2D+Youtube), Ichikara is actively testing the waters, while Cover abandoned their initial effort (Hololy) and is probably focused on collecting capital to restart work on the concept later down the line.

I wasn't sure if Cover had vicon, but Ichikara got a system in 2019. Ichikara's also developing Niji3D, which allows for face, limb and finger tracking on a smartphone, so a software advantage could be one part of it. Another, I figure, is just the way the companies are oriented. Nijisanji is constantly hosting 3D collabs and trying new things tracking-wise, while Hololive does 3D stuff much less frequently, preferring to lean on the livestreaming side of the operation. Ichikara probably just gets more data from which to work out the kinks and train their staff as a result.
