1) the vtuber is *not* a character.
Proof to that is that every single attempt to "replace the VA" in this industry failed miserably with with universal criticism by even the hardcore fans of the vtuber.

The "VA" lends a little bit of his soul to animate the vtuber, making it not possible to simply swap the VA and carry on with the character like it is common in proto-vtuber industries (like Jim Henson and the muppets, or Mel Blanc and Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig).

2) the vtuber is *not* the VA
It happened in other cases with graduations and reincarnations but Coco is the ultimate proof to that: people mourn Coco to this day as something that ceased to exist even if the VA simply carried on with a suspiciously similar MaruMaru-Chou of her own.

The VA is not the vtuber. The character is not the vtuber. The *whole* is the vtuber and anyone failing to figure this simple thing out will crash and burn in the attempt to pick an audience and run with it.
