Shit, when I watch some of them, it's like they're practically running on auto-pilot, the same way I run on auto-pilot while watching my professor through zoom classes. Primarily for me, western women largely are just vapid whores with nothing to offer beyond sex and appear to believe that all they need to do is coast off of providing losers the illusion that they have a chance to fuck them.

Outside of that reason however, when I have watched streamers I've always highly preferred those that didn't show their faces and were just disembodied voices. This forces the streamer to actually provide good commentary or gameplay if they want views. Vtubers are slightly different, but the idea is the same, they have to actually offer something more than just a fantasy that the viewer might have sex with them.

Even if the appeal is that the model is cute you have to understand that it is fundamentally different than the appeal most female 3DPD streamers are offering. I'll add that I find a cute model to be a positive, but not sufficient bonus to actually get me to watch them.

I've honestly been wondering that for awhile. Why can I sit down and have a vtuber on but wouldn't even both with probably every other woman that streams without some anime avatar?

Hell if I know. Closest I can think of for myself is it feels less "real" but I don't know. And even then that brings up questions of its own. Why does the divide separating my three-dimensional self from something that is for all intents and purposes 2D matter? Why does it not even matter when these vtubers are having those '3D' events? Why do I not get the same effect when I see those screens of that one more 'realistic' streamer I've seen floating around?

Maybe it's because it's not as real, hell, maybe it just means some part of me is screwed up because clearly thousands upon thousands of people have no problem with regular streamers.

Watching a vtuber video or stream is basically an unscripted slice of life episode that you can partially partake in by talking into the chat. I like anime, like slice of life, like vidya, so it only makes sense I'd like vtubers over 3d, since they don't have the anime aesthetic to them.

I only fell down this rabbit hole a few months ago but I've been really trying to figure it out. I don't watch any other streamers, never have liked it. I think it has to do with both being a weeb and the fact that I've always found live streamers to have this weird inauthentic facade over them, like their reactions and everything are clearly played up for the camera, ect.

But with Vtubers the fakeness is built in. I know it's a person playing a character being portrayed by a cartoon dog lady or whatever, of course they're exaggerated. They're an over the top character, I'm not supposed to interpret it as a real person.

I have no idea why my brain works like that but it seems to.

I didn't watch streamers much in the first place.

Vtubers have the ability to fill dead air by virtue of playing characters they can always make up some tall tales about. Also, while facecams are basically a necessity these days, there's little use in them since fake reactions are painfully obvious. Live2D avatars are all fake to some degree (since you need to turn on the crying function when you're crying, etc) and can be basically used as action figures.

Corporate vtubers are not hired just for their appearance, most of them are hired because they have an above average ability or an interesting personality, they also never talk about politics and that's a plus.
Good indie vtubers know from the get go that they cannot rely on their appearance, which gives them an advantage over 3DPD.
Then again, while it's true that most popular mainstream female streamers make use of their looks to woo their audience, people here don't even try to look for actual entertainers and just label every streamer as inherently trash.
There are plenty of good entertainers streaming every day to a decently sized audience and you will never know because only the top 10 and the occasional controversy are shoved in everyone's faces by social media.
As an example of someone I really like to watch, there's 39daph, she's pretty based.
