Do you recall, not long ago
We would walk on the sidewalk
Innocent, remember?
All we did was care for each other
But the night was warm
We were bold and young
All around the wind blows
We would only hold on to let go
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We all need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We all need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on

Reminder that Calli drinks wine straight from the bottle and started drinking in college to handle stress.
Used to also hold plenty of drinking game streams and even got wasted on one of her watch along streams because she also made that a drinking game (believe it was the scarface watch along).

He's unironically right though. It's fine to drink with your friends (because it won't always be getting absolutely wasted, often it will be just a beer or two to feel more confident), it's fine to treat yourself to a glass or a beer with your meal every now and then, but if you're getting wasted straight from the bottle alone in your apartment on a regular basis then I guarantee you're already pretty fucking miserable and depressed and need help. I live in one of the countries known for high alcohol consuming levels and everyone knows that getting wasted by yourself is a turning point. Some people can get pretty bad and drink a fuckton during a short period of time if there's a lot of events like birthdays, friends and family gatherings etc, but it's all easily reversible as soon as the events are over. Bad shit starts when you decide it's a nice idea to have a couple of beers after work while browsing chans. I've seen it happen so many times. At first it's a couple of beers now and then to wind down after a hard day, then it's a bit more because you feel gloomy just spending your evening regularly without alcohol, then you start adding more strong alcohol, then you realize you can't fall asleep fast enough without a glass anymore... Fast forward and you're the MC of the copypasta we have about the guy who gets wasted on Friday night, passes out, wakes up in a terrible condition, not even fully sober yet, having severe anxiety but relieved that there is still weekend and then realizes it's Monday morning. This is what could happen to Mori in a couple of months if she escalates her current habits.

Because it's not about drinking with friends specifically. It's about how you sell to yourself when you drink. If you only ever drink with friends you will (generally) have a better time and won't fall into a drunken sadness hole, and you generally only see people a few times a month. As soon as you start drinking alone, ESPECIALLY for a work from home job, it becomes a lot harder to put up boundaries about drinking, which allows it to creep into your life. This thread's about calli, but Nina mentioned on her powerwashing stream that she finds herself often thinking "why not?" when it comes to drinking, and that she often ends up having a few every single night. That's not healthy, and the monkeybrain solution is to limit yourself to an infrequent criteria like "friends are round in person".

People use alcohol as a social lubricant to make social gatherings more jovial. It loosens up everyone's anxieties so they can more confidently interact.
If you are drinking alone, the only reason is because you need that lubrication to feel OK even when you are at home by yourself. That's not healthy, it means you have real issues to solve
