also my friend (I'm Indog for context) actually applied to an indie local vtuber agency and literally almost got in (in the very final round of the "cullings" in the selection process), I think she was top 5 and the agency only wanted to debut 3. she lost on the fact that her PC is not "good enough". she never had any streaming experience before. we talked a bit, mainly because she knows I'm a vtuber fan and she was asking for advice. in the end she decided to focus on other things for now.

You zoomers just can't understand the pain of wanting to share your hobby or interest with someone and just realizing they can't even understand enough to get their foot in-the-door. You end up having to try and sell them on the entry-level shit just to explain to them what you're into and then if you manage to pull that off, you have to explain you hate all that entry-level shit and you're much further down the rabbit hole. Everyone thought I was bizarre growing up just for spending time online while they couldn't even use Microsoft Word. I've watched basically everything I loved as a teenager that I was ostracized for be later embraced and made mainstream by a new generation of people who have never known what it's like to be bullied.

Sometimes I think I'm the human and they are the bugs and sometimes I think they are the humans and I am the extraterrestrial. Separating myself from them was the best thing that ever happened to me. In theory meeting such an individual would have been possible earlier in my life, but the amount of trial and error required was too exhausting. And truthfully, while statistically it's almost certain there is another entity like me out there, it's virtually impossible I could ever find them. I think what a place like this allows me to experience is some of the rare moments the untermenschen break free from their routine and say things I can understand and then they go back to how they were before. If I had to spend time with them in physical space I would be forced to witness the uncanny valley and be so repulsed by it any positive feelings I had towards the individual would be negated.

I wasn't traumatized by it, I just stopped bothering trying to explain anything to anyone because it was never worth it. They just won't get it. And seeing everyone superficially embrace all the stuff they once mocked when I was into it made me uninterested in their views on their interests too. Plus, they all like the same shit, there's only so many times you can pretend to care hearing about the same thing you've already wrung dry for all its value. The conversations are one-sided because you are polite enough to listen to them talk about their shit because you understand their hobby more than they do but you won't tell them about your hobby because it's impolite to confuse them.

I pity anyone who thinks it would be a good idea to share the fact that they spend their free time watching grown women badly play video games whilst pretending to be japanese cartoon characters. This stuff is repulsive to a normal person, and concealing power levels is a thing for a reason. The vast majority of anime-ajacent fans I've talked to irl seem to belong to the casual and ironic weeb demographics, and there's no way I'd want to hear "WAOW THAT WAS SO WHOLESOME, MY CUTE GOOFBALL SAID THE THING, DID TIKTOK MEME, SUUGOOOIII" in person. The vocal hololive fans remind me of 2013-era bronies who would parade their MLP toys around the high school classroom and try to convince people that it was normal.

I would really implore you to get out there and find your people. anonymous, faceless interaction can only sate your human needs for so long. My dad seems pretty indifferent about anime but I think he generally likes me having weird or niche interests, since he was kind of the same for his time and place he grew up in (Being into video games in East Germany).

>sever asperger, clinical depression, history of abuse or else
newsflash, nobody cares you dumb faggot. if you are a major fucking autist people won't like you, if you break up social contact and whine constantly because of "muh depression" people won't like you. not realizing this simple fact is the actual sheltered attitude. anyone who tells you differently is just being nice because it's expected of them to act like that.

if there are problems keeping someone from having friends that's their problem, not the fact that no actual friendships exist.

>"tells me enough"
in reference to you being an obvious over emotional faggot who gets offended by me calling someone out on an obviously false statement.

I showed my Aunt Vtubers and she thought they were pretty cool and especially liked Gura's singing. I also explained GFE to her and told her about how sometimes people send superchats to feel like they have a relationship to the Vtuber. She simply replied, "How depressing..."

My gf knows I watch HoloEN and thinks it's cute. It's been years and she still somehow finds my weird nerdy shit endearing.
