Read what I fucking wrote on the picture, anon.
tldr: max live viewers bad, compare average views/time instead.
Conclusion: HAACHAMA IS THE STRONGEST IDOL, as expected. Gura wins on most of the duration time ranges.

Very good chart, and uses the metric I would use generally when we don't have streamer only info, which is views/time. Taking out short skits, covers, mengen, and private is also a good choice.

Only complaints I have are the curation for some time sections that are very clear outliers, especially the <1h section. お役目 streams, outfit reveals, etc. should also be not be included when your sample size is too small. They might average out evenly if you have a larger amount of normal videos, and included every special event, but it makes a clear impact on a size of ~25 videos. Also not faulting your for this one, since it's hard to look up the history of each video, but some videos also have much higher view counts due to outside promotion or influence. You can make an argument for including these and not including other stuff, but like I said, better to take out outliers with a small sample size. Lize's <1h, Kuzuha's <2h, Pekora <1h, Coco's <1h, Marine's 1h-2h, etc.

Also, I'm not clear on what your criteria was for highlighting a box.

Oh right, also if anyone does want to take it to another level again, it might be useful to somehow incorporate collabs on someone else's channel into their own, maybe through some function of the other person's channel's average views. You might also want to just include every special event if you do this.

And stuff I forgot is that taking views/time is good for trying to get number of unique viewers, but you have to take into account the live concurrent viewer chart if you want to try to get a sense of time/impression.

Also the Youtube filtering western viewers thing still sounds ridiculous. Some Nijis without significant overseas audience also had their live concurrent reduced, while some other Japanese streamers had their count stay pretty much untouched. The most likely reason is still "spam viewers", as in they simply got rid of people opening too many streams at once to inflate numbers, or people opening multiple copies of the same stream from different browsers/devices.

I'm an EUfag and most of the times I can't tune for Gura and I watch her VODs instead for example.
I guess this is more an issue for Gura and Gura only than other Holos (since JPs can always watch JP Holos, obviously) and I don't know how many EUfags are like me and watch VODs but anyway.
You could also use SCs I guess, but that's an entire other argument. That's like "How many viewers are willing to pay", and I bet Kiara/Rushia bet literally everyone on that (Rushia for obvious reasons, Kiara because even if she somehow has shit viewerbase she has godlike SC earnings. Basically every single one of her viewers donate).

It really is annoying, because I would've thought your views count as long as you're logged in on your Google Account. But as I was listening to an indie's orison, I noticed that I didn't in fact give a view. Tried playing around with my settings and ended up going so far as to completely disable ublock, but to no avail. I suspect the issue is with Disconnect, but I refuse to disable that.

To add insult to the injury, somebody happened to give the song its weekly view right as I had completely disabled ublock, so I ended up thinking it works for a while and watched several ads triple checking things before I figured it didn't work after all. The indie is too small to be monetized, so they didn't even get the ad money. But really, would've thought being logged in counts always, adblocks or no.

I've soured on numberfagging as a whole because nobody knows how youtube counts anything, probably not even google themselves. Views are unreliable as fuck, divide them how you wish. Subcounts don't show realtime engagement and the longer a channel exists the worse the issue of dead subs gets. Supas seem a reliable gauge for dedicated simps but they don't correlate well with real popularity and even someone like Kiara can make herself look good by regularly reading them.

Not to mention there is zero insight on paid follows outside of poll engagement...

Something that strikes me though is that youtube is not really a livestream site. It is a video site that happens to have livestreams. They are not really going to be taking advantage of their sub base if they do not publish the shorter videos that the algorithm likes to see. idk about you guys but it's very rare that any vod actually gets recommended to me even though I watch them regularly.

If you make your graph a function of max concurrent viewers, and max concurrent viewers drops, then of course your graph is going to trend downwards too. Youtube having done something is obvious, considering you can check a few streams concurrent view count and see them drop like a cliff halfway through at the same time.

>>1715568
It actually doesn't take that many, which is why stream length is a usually a good determinant for views. If you keep 5k viewers, which is generous for a 4.5 hour stream, you only need your 8k viewers to have an average watch time of 10 minutes to hit 221k.

From >>1714345 chart, you can clearly see that she still has high watch times on certain streams going past 30m+. If you take her average to be 15m per viewer, she would need to have 1k viewers stay the entire time to get 221k. If you just go by his view/max, it puts her at about 16m, which is average for her streams.

If you want to form a different explanation, you need to also explain outliers such as why it's still possible for her to get high numbers even with the bug active, and why the bug seemingly targets only a subset. If you say American only, then why have Niji numbers dropped too when a majority of their audience is still Japanese?

>>1714636
Also, I'm curious, which other streamers have talked about this? I genuinely haven't seen this topic discussed anywhere at all beyond vtubers.

This board has some of the lowest quality numberfags I've ever seen.

>"Hurrr, live viewers => viewcount pipeline transition is a conspiracy"
>"Watch Time per Viewer calculated by total view count when stream ends divided by stream time and multiplied by max stream viewers"
>"views > peak concurrent live viewers zomg how"

Archived livestreams generate a large portion of traffic, and anyone who isn't showing you actual impressions, CTR, and WT is just guessing.

The actual numbers are responses to OP's chart. The current responses are only in response to trying to guess what criteria Youtube is using to determine which live viewers count and which don't. There are some really dumb people on this board, but at least read the thread before posting.

Also guessing is the point, unless you have a vtuber openly showing their numbers. If they already show you their numbers there would be no point to these threads.

Almost all of his sub 3hour streams have this trend i usually see with sub 1hrs streams. Where he gets sub100k views at the end, BUT in the next 24 hrs it increases in 200 to 300%.
Not even pekora or gura have that post stream growth and even weirder is that his likes barely increase too. There are exceptions tough but is such a trend with kuzuha that stands out. I think aqua might be a simialr new case also since some of her apex videos are similar in behavior.
if i were to take a guess would be that apex buff for good players actually softened or nullify the december change for watch time/views since people are watching their streams mostly offline.

This is sort of an aside, but consider that Miko for the few minecraft streams she has done on twitch has averaged 15-16k viewers, even going as high as 17k I believe? This number remained remarkably stable across her streaming time too, so could this be considered the core block of people who go out of their way to follow miko from youtube to twitch? Consider the first stream, which was pretty much completely guerilla, hit 15k viewers...

If so you then look at the bit of minecraft video immediately prior, and you see she had a max of about 10k viewers... are we supposed to believe that 7k new twitch viewers checked her out? If we consider that twitch has bug, then potentially ~1/3 of her regular viewers are being blocked by whatever bug youtube has...

youtube bug, not twitch obviously. Also 5k new viewers, the prior number was from the 2nd stream.

Because of the fucking retarded fanbases that makes up a vast majority of VTuber viewership. It's not enough to like someone, they need to "prove" to everyone else that the digital model they like is superior to others. This thread is a perfect example.

You rarely see this kind of shit elsewhere. Sure it pops up from time to time but in general arguments typically boil down to "no that person is a faggot fuck you." Pretty standard stuff. VTubers though? It's always either "NUMBERS NUMBERS MINE WINS" or "SOUL VS SOULLESS."
