becoming a vtuber is easy, staying a vtuber is hard. unless you get really lucky and blow up as an indie - algorithm, viral meme, good model, or some combination of all three (and even more other factors) - you're looking at an average of 10-100 concurrent viewers throughout your entire career.

your best bet is going corporate but competition is probably very tough and even in the corpo world there are only a handful that can provide you with a big enough platform to make vtubing a sustainable career.

Since you're a guy I'd honestly say it's best to either go full-on memelord with your vtuber- like being a completely armored knight and just playing Dark Souls- or simply be yourself and don't even bother with the virtual avatar shit. If you simply like the anonymity that being a vtuber provides then just get a design that you personally resonate with, and make whatever content you want. Don't feel disheartened by not blowing up even after a few months of making content, because that's normal and it's why making stuff that you personally like is so important. Also anyone telling you that you need to appeal to people you don't like, or that you need to attempt to be sexy are setting you up to become miserable.

From experience with both my own work and from working with an indie vtuber. When it comes to strictly my own content I own several YouTube channels and I've been making videos since 2011, but my own content is unrelated to vtubing. I really want to encourage more men to try out vtubing because male vtubers aren't oversatured yet. It's the best time to become one.
