During the mikorone there were two groups with EN guests. One was with Nihongo jouzu only and the entire segment was in Japanese. And a second one was a telephone game where you really didn't need to know Japanese. Kiara was a guest in the not-so-jouzu segment and wrote a few English sentences for that example.

Kiara and her insecurities mixed that fact, with the fact that she believe that she lacking practice in Japanese and starting to forget stuff. Eh, it would be really stupid for her to actually think that. Even if her Japanese might have reclined a bit, she still has better Japanese than some of the JP members, and you could probably make an argument about her having the best Japanese in the EN branch. But yeah, her ego searching probably wasn't that deep. That or she didn't browse 5ch, considering 5ch was literally sucking Kiara off and praising her as if she was a god, saying that she was the only competent Japanese speaker in the Mikorone collab segment as well as comparing her to Coco a lot. Not to mention the amount of times both Korone and Miko gushed about her Japanese She should be happy that they chose her to be the translator, it shows how highly they view her Japanese and her ability to translate it into English, and she pretty much has the crown as the EN/JP translator in the bag. I'm going to chalk up today simply to her being tired from yesterday, however, I truly hope she finds it in herself somehow to show more confidence in herself and desist with these unsubstantiated narratives. I don't think she realizes that even the small little things she does actually has a big impact for her genmates and to her fans (e.g.: filling empty time in Ame's Birthday stream, being a main necessary translator in the MiKorone stream). Even if she is poking fun at herself, it can't be healthy for her mentally long term.

IRyS was getting fucked over from day one. Her first songs were released on the hololive channel instead of hers, effectively killing their growth. Which is sad because they're actually good songs. Personally I just don't really like the face, with the biggest problems being the more realistic mouth and nose, it doesn't fit in with the other models. Some angles can look okay, but some other ones can look really bad. But she does manage to make it work. Redjuice is a good artist, but his style is not for vtubers. I think part of the issue is that Kiara, as she herself said multiple times before, really only considers "can speak japanese" as her only unique standout-skill among the other Myth girls.
She looks up to and compares herself to the others, and considers herself inferior in those aspects (Mori music, Gura singing, Ina drawing, Ame gaming/creatividad). Of course, all that is debatable, and of course she has many other fine qualities, but that's how she sees it. And of course, for a while, that really was her unique standout, a contribution that only she could bring to HoloEN. Being the best at japanese, and being in Japan at that time also, and being the most social personality of them all, meant that she could be the "bridge" between EN and JP and be relied on in that role she set for herself.
Now, with many more japanese speakers in EN and ID, and some of them living nearer to Japan timezone-wise (or even directly in Japan as with Irys), she's not the only go-to person anymore, and it's only natural that this role will be shared and filled by more new connections. Of course it's inevitable that this can gnaw at your self-confidence if you made that a big part of your identity, and now have to see that "intruded" upon or "taken away" from you. That's the danger of building your image on something that can be replaceable. A healthy way out would be to re-assess the situation and think of other strengths you can bring to the table, less of a competition but more about shared successes.

In all seriousness though, her motivation on actually going through with seriously learning korean is almost entirely dependant on how long the current influx of koreanbros lasts.

If it's sustainable and they stick around for longer than the novelty period, there can be enough of a feedback loop (koreans give her attention, kiara panders to them, koreans give her more attention), that she gets enough positive reinforcement to make the effort to actually learn the language, because she will be "rewarded" for it.
If it's just a flash in the pan, like with Ame (though tbf, she didn't really pander to them in any way specially), the koreans will get bored and move on eventually, and with that Kiara's entire reason to seriously pursue the language in the first place, because "why bother" making an effort to please someone who isn't around anymore?

I think Kiara's talk about her Japanese and all that was perfectly honest and reasonable, where I think she went wrong and made the whole thing into pity party bullshit was that her justification for it was being the translator with the non-Japanese rather than being in the nihongo jouzu group. Her ability to translate and be a bridge between the gaijin and JP is what stands out about her. Tons of people can handle Japanese just fine, they did that Mario Kart practice round with the best racers from each generation of each branch and all of them had no trouble with Japanese even though Kiara wasn't there. But someone like Irys or Reine or Ina isn't a bridge to anything. I do wish Kiara did actually collab more with the JP side, Holotalk seems to open up room for her to actually appear with everyone in JP in collab streams but they don't seem to follow through. final thoughts

So I got around to reading the interviews. It's weird to me that they specifically ask Kiara about Takamori and they don't ask any other member about a ship. Like, if they had asked that question to both Kiara and Mori that'd be one thing. It'd also be maybe a little more understandable if Kiara was publically playing up the ship still. But she isn't.
My guess is that they had been fishing for it the entire interview - for some sort of Takamori bit that Kiara avoided every time until asked point blank about it. Mori did give small Takamori crumbs unprompted during her own interview, but Kiara didn't even mention Mori until asked specifically about her.
