The physical experience of a videogame can be more detached from its subject matter than other media though. This sounds unintuitive as games are thought to be more "immersive", but the gameplay may have little real relation to the concept. While a Tetris fan may like rearranging things, Doctor Mario's gameplay, conversely, has zero connection to the practice of medicine. And a shooter fan might think guns are cool, but simultaneously, aside from squeezing a trigger, there is no equivalence in the gameplay of aiming with a mouse/analog sticks and handling an actual firearm.
In movies, the act of consumption is even closer to the preference of the viewer. A horror fan may not actually want to be killed by a clown, but you do crave suspense. If you like tragedies, you may not want your family to die, but you are intrigued when it happens to others. If you like romance, you're likely directly into romance as a whole. If you like action, you likely enjoy the concept of combat.
Porn is the most direct link between consumption and preference. Generally, if you are sexually aroused while watching it, the subject sexually arouses you.

There is an out, of course. If a lolicon likes looking at naked 2d girls, they may not like naked 3d girls. That's where the whole concept of "3dpd" originated from. Secondly, you may have a moral objection. A person can be really into shooters and guns yet have a moral objection to weaponry IRL. A person might be a lolicon yet have a moral objection to the harm it can cause in real life. I don't think that disproves the point however. One would not intuitively think nor that preferences in 2D porn don't have a significant correlation with actual sexual preferences, nor do I think that's been proven.
