How is watching videos on YouTube different from streaming a video game? You're there for the person streaming in most cases, so why would this matter? I don't really think laziness is the answer here because playing video games isn't exactly difficult either. I don't see the issue with this.

Reacting to game? The streamer "reacting to game" is also playing the game and the audience is getting to see their unique approach to the game in question. Reacting to youtube videos just doesn't sound as appealing or engaging to me. I could just watch a youtube video on my own time and see the exact same video that the streamer is reacting to; I can't say the same thing for a game.

Hell, one of the reasons vtubers blew up in west was due to ppl being surprised at how much effort goes into their content compared to normal streamers. Many people are sick of ppl like Hasan getting rich on such lazy "content". Not to mention the moral issues of using someone else's content for your profit

The funny thing is that most of the people defending this aren't even Pikamee fans, they are just twitchfags defending the Twitch way of vtubing.
Twitch culture is one of lazyness, of people streaming because they want to hang out as a friend with their chat. Not of striving for success through the creation of better content. I've heard a couple of vtubers that switched platforms that feel more relaxed at twitch, precisely because the audience has lesser expectations and you don't have to please an algorithm for exposure.
I feel that the twitch way makes for more genuine parasocial relationships, but it also feels extremely stagnant and depressing.
