The Nux drama did nothing. What really boosted them was that Vei somehow found a way to get into the OTK+ clique. There have been a lot of collabs with Mizkif, Sodapoppin, Lacari and other very popular non-vtuber streamers recently and a huge amount of new people are getting exposed to Vshojo which is making their numbers explode.
A large part of /vsj+/ actually hates this because these new viewers are hardcore twitch meme shitters and the chat noticeably changed.

I can't check if that's true and I somehow doubt it, but even if that's true, how would that inflate numbers in any way? How many people do you think put on a stream and then mute it and change the tab and forget about it? That's maybe 50 viewers in her 15k.
