If it's because corps wanted to see the actual number of marketable viewers (no adblocker, etc) then it's not unreasonable to assume that twitch as a primarily streaming focused platform already has the same systems in place since years ago. Youtube eliminating "spam viewers" means nothing when we don't know how youtube and twitch actually get their numbers. It's all speculation and coping.

Admittedly I'm not really the right person to discuss this topic in depth, but I would still say there's little to no evidence to assume what you said might be the case. For instance, VODs on YT tend to get much higher numbers (something like double if not triple) than Twitch VODs relative to their CCV average. I remember it being very noticeable when Kson visited the VShojo server: Kson has much higher VOD views than Mousey despite Mousey counting like three times as many CCV. Could be that they have different ways to measure VOD views but, wouldn't advertisers need some kind of standardized metric?

I think Pikamee once said that the average viewer on her streams only stays for 12 minutes or so. If a poll almost doubles the number of displayed viewers after 12 minutes then that's actually not that weird.

I can't speak too much to some of the youtube stuff, but the VOD view discrepancy is a function of the extent to which these respective platforms are set up to promote or enable after-the-fact stream watching. Twitch isn't really set up to enable that, to the point that VODS of their streams uploaded to Youtube by third-party users get more views than the original Twitch VODS. There's basically no good search function for VODs, there are no comments for people to timestamp good moments, Bezos is incredibly aggressive at muting audio based on copyrighted material, etc. Things are set up this way Twitch doesn't monetize VOD views in the same way. They trade off functionality that Youtube gets as a content-first, streaming-second platform by implementing things like raids which Youtube hasn't gotten around to yet

It's not my first instinct when telling someone new about Nyan, but I posted this in response to the rrat about how she never talks about her backstory or anything.
