No idea about Holo, but before Niji's Luxiem were announced, some anon said that the Nijiguys would come in two waves of 5.
This was unbelievable at the time because no foreign Niji branch had a 5-person wave before, but that's exactly what Luxiem turned out to be, and if it's true that they already have another wave coming, new auditions might be a good while away.
It probably depends on how quickly and to what size their collective audience grows. I doubt even Niji would want to spread themselves too thin.

"Drop your png" threads aren't networking. Do you genuinely believe people are going through and interacting with each other from pngs they post for clout chasing?

Don't think about "networking" until you're established as a chuuba. Instead you should be using Twitter to market yourself. Share relatable memes, funny content, talents or highlights from your streams. You want to consistently put things out so people notice that you're creating content of various forms.

"Networking" is a meme and doesn't matter to small chuubas. At best you create good content and get noticed by larger creators. That still goes back to the first part about marketing yourself.

This is maybe a retarded question, but how do you go about even starting to create a character for your model/png? I haven't got any artistic talent whatsoever. Do I just shoot commissions at artists with text descriptions and reference images until someone makes something I like?

>> No.15080283

Find things you like in character design - patterns in clothing, styles of clothing, styles of art, items of clothing/interest.

Do you have an idea on what you want?

For instance, if you were going for "Mothman, but he's got an office job", I'd want:
- a(t least one) picture of mothman in a style I like.
- close ups of moth eye/antenna, if there's one in particular I like - silkmoths have fronds on both sides of the antenna, white moth on one, and death's head doesn't have (big) fronds at all
- picture of a salaryman, possibly from anime, depicting the general 'feel'. Am I worn down, looking forward to the weekend, a workaholic?
- picture of a real-life person, specifically the suit style. Single or double breasted, colour, pocket square, etc. Maybe more than one picture, if I find a style I like but not in the colour I want.
- Possibly pictue of a near-nude model with the body type you want. Are you a fat bastard, a dadbod, Zyzz, Joe Public?
- Anything else you like and want including - tie pattern, shoes (does mothman wear shoes?), and so on.

Stick it all in a googledrive, and share the URL with your artist.

If you can do a text description, that can help too. My avatar is loosely based on an old DnD character I used to use. So I sent copies of the character sheets and session notes (my artist is a DnD character artist, and they explicitly said "send me all your character notes - if you have level sheets, send me ALL of them!")

tiktok's algorithm adjusts to what you view and click on btw. if you're seeing thirst traps, that's because you're engaging with thirst trap tiktoks. same shit with the people who complain that tiktok is filled with nothing but 14 year old girls twerking. the algorithm sort you in about 1.5 hours. mine sent me to pets tiktok by the end of the day the first time i used it.

don't copy vtuber trends

open tiktok yourself and go do some research and discover trends that are poppin' and see how you can adapt them to your own vtuber

tiktok also has its own 'culture' you need to be aware of, and slapping some trendy sound over your video is considered tacky if it doesnt match the trend

this. 100% this. don't edit. tiktok isn't 2010s MLG hype edit youtube where audiences want to have overly edited shit. captions and quick cuts to where the key moments are is all you need. nothing else.

just remember to put your captions in the middle left side of the screen so it doesn't get covered up by the description in the lower left or the UI buttons on the right side.

my personal rec for editing is:

'off app' editing should be making sure the format is correct, doing quick cuts, and MAYBE, depending on what you're doing, aligning trendy music to your vid. the reason for this is you can't rly align music in-app unless you also shoot the video in-app.

in-app editing i'd add your captions (either actual captions or putting timed text on screen, both fine), trendy music/sound if you dont need to align it, filters (not as vtuber applicable, but experiment) and like timed emojis and shit. this is also where you'll put a title card.

again, i really really urge people to look at vienna's tiktok. yes, c9 branding did help her, but she ran a really successful tiktok campaign prior to debut that people love to gloss over.

no. unless you build a brand like Angry Video Game Nerd showcasing old games then it might work. but you don't have the branding or established base to pull that off. you could get started right now but expect zero traction for the first year.

>>15106847

no, it counts your searches, follows, likes, shares, time spent watching, times repeated watching to an undisclosed limit, and a dozen other factors. it's good enough to figure out your gender despite never asking you to input that information when you sign up.

I did a few test streams just for practice & to see what I do wrong before I worry about getting a model or anything. I realized that my biggest issue is filling dead air. I'm fine in actual conversations since I can build a rapport with the other person, but I run out of things to talk about randomly off the cuff really quickly.
Is there a quick fix for this? Most of my life since Covid started has been really routine (weightlifting, working WFH job, do some studying of whatever then just play vidya with online friends or watch vtubers) that I just don't have shit to talk about besides whatever game I'm playing.

Practice talking to yourself off stream, narrate your life. It's pretty much what the old lets players all did, and the model still works in a live setting, perhaps even better since there's interaction. For whatever reason, doing this gets the neurons firing and you'll probably find yourself going off on tangents once it becomes second nature to you. This is a huge skill to train, because sometimes you'll want to do this even while there's an active chat. Sometimes its best to let viewers converse, sometimes messages are best left unread, etc. It'll save you from being groomed and make people respect you more, which makes them more likely to share you around. Basically solidifies that it's YOUR stream, which is the reason you want to fill dead air in the first place when you really boil it down.

I probably define grooming too broadly. Lets say I'm your only viewer. I'm pretty chatty. I don't mean anything bad by you, but you, aspiring streamer, anxious to please, might feel a few urges that'll be to your long-term detriment. Maybe you'll try to cater your content to my tastes alone, since I'm the only feedback you're getting, and you're even getting it live. That's no good, but its an easy trap to fall in, in the heat of the moment. Maybe you'll come up on a blank and fall into a real long conversation with me. That's no good either (there's an important balance to this, I can probably talk about it more in depth if you want), most viewers aren't social butterflies - if they come in on you having a long conversation with one person, they'll get shy and just leave, unless you have some uber sexy voice or something. I'm sure there are some other pitfalls I'm forgetting, but that's the sorta thing you've gotta think about avoiding. My motto is to stream like you're bigger than you are.

Actually looking at bigger chuubas, I feel like it's overally the best time, from one to two hours. It keeps people captivated enough to stay for the whole thing and it it's a thing that can has more parts, they will more likely come to second part than stay with you for 5+ hours.
Think about yourself. Endurance is cool and all but do you stay on whole things for big tubers or do you go do your stuff after some time since they aren't even close to finishing and check once in a while?

I'd say around 3, you need to be Live a bit longer early on when your only methods of discovery are the whims of Twitch's near-nonexistant discovery system and whatever little outside content you may have. One to 1.5 hours is typically where you'll reach your peak viewership under normal circumstances and that's just an across the board thing for most streamers. I don't even know any big streamers just doing 1-2 hour streams, most are pulling way more than 3 just because they've got the audience to maintain it. 3-5 is pretty much the norm but 5 is fairly long unless you've got multiple things planned in phases like reactung, gaming, art, or pre-planned content like shooting for a Youtube video. Big chuubas definitely aren't doing 1-2 hour runs though.

Yeah, I just double checked and zero of the top 15 people Live now do anything less than 3. One of the few sub-3 hour streams I found was a costume contest silvervale ran.

Oh, maybe if we talk twitch but I would say it's better to do three 90mins than one 4,5 hour. You will be more tired and less people will watch the whole thing. On the beginning you want peeps to come and stay, and too long will be boring.

Holo often does under 2h streams too and they are watched whole, unlike 6h

I wouldn't really try and compare corporate to indie, you'll be an indie after all. They can do that because even the smallest holo has guaranteed viewership. At 90 minutes as an indie, you've barely hit your peak viewership for that stream. You don't really have any discoverability outside of the site at the beginning so being live at least gives you a chance to be seen. Not saying you need to do a bunch of 4-5 hour ones, but 3-4 is the norm across the board for indies. VOD viewership is next to nonexistent until people know who you are and indie VOD viewership is insanely low to begin with because the focus is typically on the livestreaming experience.

Alright I've got the singing talent, some songs prepped, an avatar in the works. But what the fuck am I gonna stream about? I mean I can probably talk about weird autistic shit for two hours straight but will it be entertaining? Though I did have an idea about talking about supernatural crap and historical mysteries. I wonder if that's an over saturated market.

>I wonder if that's an over saturated market.
it's about as over saturated as trad webcam streaming. most will never make it. the good ones will separate themselves from the garbage.

That kind of thing is better for scripted videos than streaming, or as a single recorded segment as part of your livestream in order to make it a Youtube video. Filling every single stream with that doesn't seem like it'd do very well. Kabhaal started off doing similar.

I can improvise but I've been known to say some really weird shit because I have collected seemingly useless information for years. I could art stream maybe?

if your "weird shit" isn't /pol/ tier alt right neo nazi faggotry, you should be fine. go do a test stream or local recording for 2-3 hours and take notes on yourself. expect zero viewers when you start so whatever stories you tell can be retold later when you have an actual audience.

Nah I was weird long before I ever came here. I can clean it up, it's not like I'm gonna slip and drop N bombs everywhere. I might just discuss weird thoughts about seemingly mundane crap though or talk about weird things I'll make up about the character backstory.
