Last last match
Finally champion!
Matsuri's aim was mostly very on point today. Even in the last match she did a lot to wipe out mondo's team, and in the last circles she kept bugging other teams by chip damaging them. She probably did at least 400 dmg's worth of chip to other teams and broke a couple of shields while they were fighting

Otoh I saw the POV of the Revy who Matsuri knocked so that's pretty sweet.

>> No.1448563

Also actually saw what happened at the end.
Besides Masanori downing the 4th team with 2 guys. It was literally a solo Horizon who has been stalking 3rd team for awhile, literally coming in and popping 2 of them and then dueling the survivor.
And all of them got bombarded by Uge.

>> No.1477290

>>1470998
Here's my armchair psychology: It probably gives her a sense of purpose to help lonely people come out of their shells and become less lonely. In turn she feels like she did her job and is no longer necessary so she backs out. This is of course very unhealthy as she doesn't count herself among those she wants to make happy. Despite having said in the past that she likes a relationship of mutual reliance, I think she's too scared to actually impose that burden - likely because in the few times she does she gets rejected or burned.

>> No.1477519

>>1477290
lmao no. she's very possessive. if she's close to someone, she wants to monopolize their attention. who do you think is more likely to give matsuri the attention she wants, the lonely members or the members that have a ton of friends?

>> No.1477934

>>1477519
That doesn't track with how much she pushes for those lonely people to collab with others and form additional relationships. It's happened numerous times and she keeps doing it. The timing of her backing off is also right in line with just before those people start to collab with others. That isn't to say she doesn't like to monopolize attention - she said it herself, though it could have been a deflection - but she basically self-destructs in that regard by helping them in the first place.

Masanori made a video of yesterday's champion, pretty neat
Feels good seeing Matsuri pull off 2 very important kills from a third person perspective to save the team against Mondo.
Well, technically it's just 1 knock, but Matsuri broke Mondo's shield and Masanori finished him off with a 16hp potshot from above. One more bullet from Matsuri would've done that as well so I count it as essentially 2 kills

It's good to potshot and harrass other teams in long ranges at least, to boost your EVOs and force them to waste healing items. It's situational, I guess, since sometimes it really is better to stay hidden. For example if there's a chance of getting sandwiched or third partied if you alert one team of your existence. But if you look at what Masanori does, he's basically charging all their shields to red by spamming with snipers long range. I was actually thinking of that engagement on WE where she saved Uge with covering fire.
Where she saw a target and immediately opened fire. Normally I would wait for the team to get into position unless they are exposed enough that there is a good change to knock them.
But like I said, I don't really know too well.
And she's ratting.

7th match
First great match of the day, Masanori kinda fucked up at the very end tho. He should've called Matsuri and Uge to push earlier. He committed on the fight without saying a thing until it was too late for him

>> No.1486524

>>1486394
Oh, I thought he asked them to push too early or what. Because he said something when the bubble came up. Did he get downed by others or ring?
Well, whatever, as I said, better here than in the tourney.

I see an 8th match. Though one team is dropping.

He was already fighting them alone while Matsuri and Uge were chilling in the other house. Then when Masanori's shield was almost broken, he basically said "ok let's go let's go, push inside the house" and at that point he was basically dead before the others came to help. Masanori started immediately apologizing too and basically said "Sorry, I should've called that earlier. We had that game, sorry"

Well, thankfully that was still a scrim. And desu even in the tournament a 2nd place match would be amazing point-wise.
Also the 8th match didn't end too well lol. Wokka's team got revenge

>> No.1487186

>>1486994
Oh. I thought he was just skirmishing outside. And got some momentary advantage or something then called for a push.
But hey, its still better than Festival rushing in solo like yesterday or day before and dying. Sure it was a bad call but at least they are working as a team. And they can learn from that.
>Also the 8th match didn't end too well lol. Wokka's team got revenge
That's an understatement. But at least also a learning experience. Moving back to your original drop zone after getting fucked along the way. Right into an ambush.

All in all they are learning things from the scrims from what I noticed. I wasn't paying full attention but at least they don't or at least rarely repeat the same mistakes twice.

I have to say I'm very happy and proud to see Matsuri's growth as a player in this tournament. Mental-wise she's been much more composed and positive the past week. In past tournaments she's had her mental breakdowns for various reasons and overall has been very weak to pressure. Well, she still says it's her weakest point in play but I see a much more mentally fortified player here now.
Honestly speaking if she's break down under pressure anywhere it's here in the tournament now. Here's hoping they keep composed as a team and perform well enough. I'm sure Matsuri would be perfectly satisfied if their results were the same-ish as in scrims.

Incidentally I noticed that in the last match, the place they got ambushed from was where they ambushed/3p a team. So uh. Karma and all that. But damn, that was really regrettable. I'll say they could have a good chance of winning that match as they've done really well on Olympus.
Its at times like these that stringing their team out hurts. Especially as they don't have anything that could rapidly regroup or cover each other at range. Not that there is anything that could even work since Bang smoke got nerfed.

Oh right. Before I go off to do my own APEX reps. Also because I don't want to jinx them before that.
But its honestly impressive seeing her growth from last tournament to this one. Remember when expecting her to clutch was. Well. Fat hope back then. Until now she can maintain her cool under fire and even when the situation is fubared. I mean it didn't really help since everytime they got sandwiched anyway, but it was still nice to see.
Not screaming all the time also helps her not get a sore throat this time, remember that she got a sore throat and was probably not feeling that well tournament day last time.
Its also nice to see how things slowly evolved over the scrims, you can see her and the team slowly getting better and better.
That late scrim change to Revenant also worked out much better than past tournament's late change to BH.

Overall today while she had some sloppy plays. She also had some good ones. Though I think her truly brilliant ones were back in the scrims. But today's one was good too.
Oh and once again they really did so much better on Olympus. Not sure why actually. The large relatively flat plains? WE engagements always looked like an absolute clusterfuck.
Thinking about it it might be that she lacks the tactical sense to fight in the vicious CQC of the houses and tunnels of WE with all their different elevation and multiple attack angles, while in Olympus her good aim shines through, also helps punishing people who try to push out in the open.

>Remember when expecting her to clutch was. Well. Fat hope back then.
Very much this. She's really grown as a player and a teammate, which is amazing to see. I remember the first CR Cup she participated in with Pakael she was a zero confidence shaky aim mess. She's gained a lot of confidence in firefights, much better gamesense and most importantly keeps her composure much better.
On top she can actually trusted with some clutch situations if need be (like against Ras in scrims, or Mondo? I forget which lol)
Though I'd say she could be a bit more confident.

She still has her moments where she just watches flank too much and stays hidden. Because when her aim is good, she can really put that to use by being aggressive and harrassing enemies at mid-long range if not breaking shields too. It goes to waste if she keeps being too passive. Thankfully we saw her be more aggressive today, and it really paid out with the 1000 damage game and the fight against VORUTO.

Decided to check out Uge's zatsudan/drinking stream. She really is laid back and cute. Matsuri has great taste
Also she talked about how many of her friends/colleagues don't really invite each other for apex play unless if it's for streaming purposes as well, but she did mention a few people who ask her to play apex outside of streams, and one of them was Matsuri. Sasuga our girl!
She also apparently has a dog, and he scared the fuck out of me with a loud ass bark lmao

Part of the problem is basically 3rd parties. Sometimes keeping an eye out for flanks is critical. And being hidden and thereby being able to instantly respond and blunt the attack.
But with a good IGL they should be able to direct her to best effect anyway. Not sure if she has the tactical sense to decide it best.
Or she should play Korean man and always be aware of how many squads are in a 200m radius.

Also Ussewa! I like this one and wouldn't mind it being the next song cover arc.

The way I see it there are two routes. Either she kicks the habit and commits harder to aggression, or she turns it into a strength by boosting her awareness so she can counter 3rd parties. Either would take significant effort, but that seems like one of the big ways to improve her play. Nonetheless her growth has been amazing, and she's already competing way better at this level than would be expected form her earliest Apex play. Outside of skill, she also seems to have finally adapted to the tournament atmosphere, which is a plus.

Latter is probably more useful desu. Especially for ranking too where you couldn't trust your teammates to win shootouts.
Only came to her relatively recently, so my only point of comparison would be the last tournament. And based on that I agree. Although, well, desu I actually can't remember much of her performance then except choking when needing to clutch. Then again TMS played really defensive from what I remember.
Actually come to think of it I don't remember that last tournament being that vicious. Most firefights I remember were simple affairs iirc, but its been awhile, and desu it wasn't that memorable.
>Outside of skill, she also seems to have finally adapted to the tournament atmosphere, which is a plus.
Yeah, being able to stay calm as long as she was still in the game regardless of what happened is great.

I'm definitely looking forward towards the next one, whatever or whenever it is. Though not too soon. These things are fucking tense.

Took a look at Towa's POV for Olympus yesterday and one thing I noticed is how indecisive they seemed in comparison.
First drop they dithered too long choosing a DZ, then got ganked by Shibuya soon after drop which then lead to that clip you've probably seen.
Final match though, they either had a scouting fail or were too indecisive on whether to push. You'll note that despite cover in the buildings behind them they plopped their totem right out in the open which was summarily popped. I don't blame them, watched Uge's later and you can see the ferocity and speed of her counterattack. Also Festival was the one who dealt the final blow to Towa. Though it was Uge's beaming earlier that did most of the work. Also think that shot was what blew up the totem.

Well, its a, specialist, topic so to speak.
I don't think its a problem.
Like generally the people coming here would be those interested in the first place. And for those interested I don't think they'll be put off by a wall of text.
Besides, I think there isn't really much and its organized enough that you can quickly glance over and determine whether you care or not. Like it is clearly divided into the personal details section and the clips/highlights section.

Normally I would say put it in a pastebin, but they had trouble relatively recently with inappropriate material or something and needing the creator to come back and fix it. So not reliable. Saw that problem in some of the other generals I used to go to.
