in terms of a revolution? no idea.
but its clear body tracking tech is already advanced enough for anyone to use for 3d vstreaming and that will take over l2d as the standard.
from there vtubing just about open to anything you can imagine in a 3d virtual space. thats already a lot of content.

actual AI vtubers. where the end goal is to figure out what's the efficient way to form parasocial relationship with paypigs. plenty of us already have fictional waifus. what if waifus are real!?

basically overglorified chat bots that we can interact with and they will behave similar to your real vtubers. except now they can sell you personal time and you can have 1-1 with "her". actually exactly like in the movie "her".

I attended an industry presentation by Cover in Japan back in 2019 and they wanted to eventually give fans the opportunity to voice chat directly with their talents for a fee. Fans would pay for a spot within a certain time slot and wait in a virtual queue. I think this would be extremely popular now and the proposed pricing would be enough to keep troublemakers away.

ASMR is just sound and vibrations as it is but I wonder if they could actually transfer touch trough some sort of smart cloathing perhaps? That would be a game changer for this kind of shit you can literally get a handjob from your oshi and she could just laugh it off a s a joke and still be pure while sucking your balls dry. Of course real VR with brain-computer would be civilization altering level tech but we might still wait quite a bit for those while ASMR massage suits might be duable today, perhaps some japanese startup is already working on those.

Machine translation poses some unique issues. Even human translators have some time lag, but human translators usually have a good grasp of the (usually formal) register of language that they're translating. Meanwhile holos are talking in complex in-jokes and memes, which even a human translator with a life would struggle to translate accurately into English. Or imagine trying to translate some of Ina's puns into japanese lmao.

Define "long time", depending on the language pair, machine translation is already very usable for relatively formal texts, and they are (basically) not limited by speed. The issue would be that with Japanese in particular, there are too many "untranslatable" things, i.e., where there is simply no direct equivalent at least in English and it would have to be explained in order to get the meaning across. But human translators have the same problem in that specific language pair, so the issue is not with whether MT is advanced enough or not. It is already as good or better than a sizable portion of human translators in many scenarios, and it won't take longer than a decade or so at most for it to be better at common language pairs than the vast majority of human translators in those pairs.
