I don't know about production-wise (she's mentioned she's so busy now that she has to get other people to do the production side for her, which may be the reason), but I think a major difference between the two is that her current work she's had to make it from the point of view of her character. It shows in her debut EPs, which she's obviously still trying to feel out the character. Then Cursed Night and Off With Their Heads shes gotten more comfortable with herself and the character. Can't wait to hear her new EP, can only imagine her work will only improve as time goes on.

I'm no real fan of rap though, so other than her work the only rap I've listened to a lot is the "Peace in Death" album by Nine Leaves. So can't actually judge how she is compared to the rest of the industry.

>But I'm not sure if her Mori stuff will be flexible. Cursed Night gives me hope.
I'm sure it will be, but like I said the majority of her existing work is made pre-debut, back when she thought everyone would hate her character and she'd top out at 300k subs at most. She's changed a lot since then and gotten more comfortable weaving her IRL self into the character. However some of the stuff she made songs about would absolutely be nixed by management for obvious reasons.

People need to stop directly posting previous history stuff in these threads though. Sure, her forbidden knowledge is an open secret, but take that shit to /mu/ or something.

Ivan is a funny guy because he's norweigan but grew up listening to American rap, so he can only speak English with a new york accent.
>Mach Hommy - Wap Kon Jojj
>Quelle Chris - Innocent Country 2
I found out recently that the producer on here, Chris Keys, is a friend of Taylor Eigsti's. Pretty cool that he's got ties to the NY jazz scene.
>smino - blkswn, NØIR
Smino has a really distinct flow, and the producer Monte Booker is really great too.
>Alchemist - Yacht Rock 2
This album features some of the rappers on the list.
Mori is alright, but she's not really bringing anything new. I hope she figures out how to use trillian and omnisphere because you can make some really insane stuff with that. Sam Gellaitrys album Viewfinder uses only omnisphere presets, if you need an idea.

Whoever recommends you Playboi Carti or any fag from Emo rap or Mumble rap, is a faggot.

There are plenty good artists in modern rap but you should go first to the old times. Go to the popular ones like 2Pac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg (avoid at all cost any album post-Tha Last Meal), any member of the Wu-Tang Clan (good solo projects they have), Mobb Deep, Nas, or even MF DOOM.

If want to go deeper you can go the south with, Outkast, The Geto Boys, Scarface, UGK, etc. Maybe including D.J. Screw but he only slows the music.

Going all the way you can find Memphis with, Skinny Pimp, Blackout, Triple Six Mafia, D.J. Sound, D.J Fela, Dirty Red & Lil Bay, Doom Shop (The original one, not the faggots that make phonk), Criminal Mafia, D.J. Zirk & D.J. Squeeky, Lil Grim & the Children Of The Corn.

If you feel like going full autistic, you can go in two ways, G-Funk (rare albums that go all around the U.S.) or Horrorcore (avoiding anything post-2008). These two parts aren't my thing but it might be yours.

If you feel like Modern rap is your thing just go with Kendrick Lamar (even thought he's dead), modern Eminem (I heard he's doing good projects, hopefully those words weren't written by a stan), or you can also check anything produced by Madlib. That's about it

Alkatraz was her peak, but that of course came with a fleshed out character and whatnot. However, even Alkatraz is decent at best. Her rapping style is so... Hopsin-ish with J-rap mixed in. She also can't escape the "lyrical miracle spiritual" style of writing. Overall, I'll give her a 6.5 to 7/10. It gets the job done I guess :/

>> No.1508208

I like her some of her stuff but I'm no rap expert. I tried listening to Kendrick Lamar, which js supposed to oje od the best things in the genre and i dont get it, maybe rap It's just not for me. It doesn't help that when you try to criticize it people call you racist (i mean i kind of am, but still you know), but i really like r&b, so it can't just be my general prejudices.

>> No.1508570

>>1508097
It's kind of weird that the whole "lyrical miracle spiritual" came from filthy frank who then went on to become famous for what are pretty surface level sad songs like slowly dancing in the dark, i mean even the phrase slowly dancing in the dark sounds like something a sad middle class teem post on their social media and thinks its super deep. So i feel the whole thing is a little throwing stones ij glass houses from filthy frank. Also nothing wrong with staying with jrap style. It feels like if you were to criticize Pearl Jam for never making country music.

yes, she's a great WRITER, her raps are technically quite good. Lyric choice and music however? Lyrics can be cringe at time (murder is so fucking KAWAII... ugh... cringe just fucking cringe). The instruments in her beats are often poor too. I know she likes "unique" accompanying instruments to "be different" but sometimes "being different" is a huge detriment. If she had more customary taste in accompanying instruments some of her baselines would be straight fire.

Rhyming Skills: S
Music Writing Skills: B+
Lyric Writing Skills: B-
Voice: C

Overall Rapping Skills: B+; her best skills are the rhyming schemes and techniques she uses which are off the chart advanced which more then covers up her mediocre voice and average lyric and music choices. I think if you got her an actual music producer she'd probably be able to sell legit albums without the hololive gimmick, and if you made her a writer she'd be a star in the business.

you can't look at the artist that were literally just recommended like 10 posts in? Aesop rock alone goes pretty "deep" with his lyrics. Death Grips is cryptic and memed to death but their shit would qualify too I'd say. In the end its still subjective and up to the person listening to determine the depth though. Most artist don't just spell out the meanings of their songs even something that sounds super simple to you can have multiple hidden meanings. I think Cursed Night and Live Again are "deep" but its mostly because of the association with her past self. If it makes you think its deep. If you have to look up and review lyrics its deep. That's my definition at least
