It's tough though, since a lot of the appeal of vtubers really is "cute anime girls doing cute things." Right now, I think almost any western dude trying to make it as a streamer would only be limiting their audience if they debuted as an indie vtuber. You either need vtubing to become more palatable for the mainstream OR more women to start watching male vtubers OR corpos with big name recognition willing to hire EN dudes right out the gate and give them that boost.

I would say there's a couple more things there. The first was Melody, which Mouse always talks about. Mel was also a doorway to Mousey getting to meet some fleshtubers like Nux, Noble, Nagzz, and so forth, and probably what got her on Connor's radar (allegedly he messaged her somewhere in October and she ghosted him for a few weeks because that's how Mouse rolls), then Kulikitaka Ti, later a bit of Lewdcasting, VShojo, New Years and her Birthday (5k seems like a paltry number now, but back then that was one of her biggest streams ever), then Connor in late January, then Padilla, and lately OTV whether we like it or not. She's made a lot of inroads for herself with a lot of people and it's nice to see. Unfortunately, it looks like either she's plateaued or VShojo in general has because her follower number rate of growth has slowed.
