Closest thing I can think of are esports agencies, and they have a long history of conflict with their top members. The basic deal is that the agency gives you recognition you probably wouldn't get on your own in return for profits in case you make it big, when you're carrying the rest of the group in return (tied by a contract). So for an aspiring talent it's a choice between high risk, high return indie path or lower risk stable income with an agency. So when a talent in an agency gets big it's very common for them to try to get out of the contract and go indie again. It's hard to judge who's in the wrong or right, at first glance the deal is straightforward, but sometimes the cut they take is just barbaric. Also, people signing those things usually don't even have a clue what they are doing.
