Merchandise is made to order. There is zero cost to make a model and a small batch and put up for sale.
Voice packs even less so: they record the voice for free and may or may not see a return

The Nijisanji model isn’t a risky one (and that’s a smart thing) but that also means you can’t really claim success by virtue of having mercy for sale, only by having it actually selling (and nobody knows how much they’re selling)

When I checked this in March it was about 115k holo and 90k nijisanji, a gap of 25k. The gap is about 43k now. Not that anyone uses pixiv much anymore though...
I think most have moved to doing twitter only but I don't see evidence that Nijisanji artists do it at a higher rate.
