Vtubers don't have to be tied to a talent agency, Anons. You can find someone completely independent out there who is just trying to bring an idea to life. The fanart often inspires the Vtuber which in turn influences the fanart. The donations are for people who want to see it keep happening. Even if you want to bring the Holos into this, there's a broader range of community within each generation. When you're a Brony... you're a Brony. It's an extremely narrow culture that has spawned from a children's show. I have a vivid idea of what a Brony watches. I can't say the same for Vtubers, let alone a group like hololive. Too many different kinds of people, too many different types of streams. Some viewers will be compelled to gravitate towards certain personalities over others, and you don't have to watch what you don't like. Hence why I love the Hololive threads. They're always clashing with each other like they're in their own little factions. Idol culture is hilarious.
