People always say clippers are fucking leeches who steal random out of context bits so they can make a hundred bucks per video and live like kings in their third world SEA shithole.

But what about Etsyfags/third party websites which sell off-brand merchandise using the likenesses of vtubers to profit, or rebuying limited edition merchandise and selling it for more/scalping.

Aren't these faggots the real criminals here, since Vtubers get their largest source of income from merchandise and these are the equivalent of Chinese scam artists selling "Nintendoy 65" systems to kids in the 1990s?

Bootleggers on etsy will always exist because the people running the website don't seem to care or get sued.
What's utterly stupid is faggots in certain generals like /moon/ saying that merch is too expensive and that they should buy the bootleg shit on etsy. But what do you expect from indogs.

Etsyfags provide an actually valuable service to third-world poorfags like me, so they're cool in my book.

that's assuming people are purposely going out of their way to look for 3rd party merchandise to buy which isn't a guaranteed thing VS SEAnigger clippers making guaranteed ad revenue money cause of clickbait content of certain Vtubers which can average 100k views and assuming most of those views comes from mobile users, that's easy ad money that can make any third worlder live like a king in their country

that's because clippers are controversial so when you'll say that you'll usually get one or two people who disagree starting a argument whereas with bootleg merch sellers everyone agrees they're scum so no conversation gets generated from it which means no one bothers to bring it up in the first place.

>which sell off-brand merchandise using the likenesses of vtubers to profit
Legit there's no problem with that. That's capitalizing off of a market using an idea or thing like any other brand making a certain universal product whether it'd be some company coming up with a different way to sell a type of chocolate or some other example.
>rebuying limited edition merchandise and selling it for more/scalping
Everyone agrees that they're scum which is why there's little to no discussion or virtue signaling. Just don't buy from scalpers, simple as. Unlike YT algorithms and other bullshit, a lot of these 3rd party sellers are left out to dry, even if they attempt to scalp since there's little traction coming their way. People typically aren't shopping as much as they're surfing YT, so the profit margin between the two is HUGE. Shitbag clippers can get away with clickbaiting and catching ad revenue from clicks while a 3rd party seller has to make something worth turning away from already expensive official merch for if they aren't already scalping. It's not that people are unaware, they're just being ignored because they're a far lesser problem.
