Utility wise, English and Spanish open up large parts of the western market.

Languages need a culture or niche, but Indonesian (which is AKSHUALLY Bahasa/Indonesian you filthy Windows peasants) is just an obsolete generic trade language. Indonesia adopted English as its token global tongue while keeping regional dialects instead of adopting Bahasa Indonesian and building a common lexicon, leaving Bahasan (get fucked, I don't care whether I'm using the term correctly) as the unchosen middle child that's not good for anything. It's not good for trade. It's supposedly not good for cultural nuances (much like simplified Chinese). So if a person is going to learn Indonesian, I'd imagine they'd probably be better off learning the local dialect of wherever they're going to be traveling to/staying/doing business first and Bahasan second. Because actually living in Indonesia is presumably the only circumstance where knowing the language will yield significant returns.

Unless you mean Cantonese, fuck no. The only worth while cultural exports China has are its food and Hong Kong Cinema, one you don't really need the language to enjoy and the other is exclusively Cantonese speaking.

I say this as some one who knows Mandarin, there's fuck all cultural exports from the Mainland.
The Film industry is worse than India's. That's not a joke. I have seen more films from the Indians subcontinent that I'd be willing to watch again than I have from Mainland China. The animations are pretty subpar as well.

Almost all of its music is a second rate copy of something that exists somewhere else. C pop is just like Idol pop anywhere else in Asia without the creativity and sovl of J pop, or the mirror sheen polish that K Pop has. And because the government doesn't like anything rebellious it doesn't have anything like Norwegian Black Metal or Irish Shoegaze to save an otherwise uninteresting music scene. The only real music it has unique to it is Chinese Classical, and for some fucking reason it has a Country scene.

I would imagine if someone had a significant Indonesian audience they wanted to interact with, they might want to learn it then. But that audience probably speaks English anyway, and I don’t think anyone who isn’t Indonesian has an Indonesian audience. Like any of the Holos have that as a reason to learn English, and Botan has a reason to learn Russian.
Also, unless we’re talking about the French, people love it when you try to learn their native languages. So it could be a thing a girl does to make her audience crust their boxers more than usual.
