What went wrong is Moona started learning into the pekomoon "I love u pekora" bullshit which ruined their relationship context because pekora hates that kayfabe lesbian shit.
If moona kept her head down, kept being just her employee and only occasionally giving pekora congratulations on milestones and little gifts, but didn't make a big deal about their relationship, pekora would fall in love with her (platonically) that's how introverts who happen to be popular and powerful work, they don't want to be actively pursued.
It actually really dissapoints me that the community running a joke into the group and moona deciding to run with it for content stifled what could have been a real friendship. Idiots don't understand that pekora love language is not "Omg pekora senpai I love you let's kiss", what pekora wants is to log into minecraft and find a chest full of quartz that she mentioned needing for her next build, no note, just quartz.

Moona openly said that she recived a lot of mean messages about being a Pekora leech. She is very reluctant now to pro-activly propose collabs to Peko.

Peko is a type of a person who is rarely make a first move, you need to invite her or she will do her solo stuff forever.

tldr Moon is waiting for Peko, Peko is busy with solo-live projects and gen-3. Only nousagis has power to consistently throw SC request for Moona collab to make it happen.

Pekora is a huge numberfag that probably cares more about her numbers than most of the shitposters on here do, but it's not in the same as other numbers chuubas and certainly not the same as Chloe. Pekora egosearches herself constantly, checks her numbers and keeps a careful watch on which of her streams do better and which do worse. But she still streams whatever she likes when she likes something, doesn't care who she collabs with as long as the content of the collab itself isn't trash, and generally just works on doing consistent, high-quality streams over other numbers begging things, which is working out for her splendidly (obviously). But Pekora certainly cares a lot about her popularity, although in her case she mostly cares how her fans perceive her above all else since she has a pretty serious codependence on nousagi.

That being said, the reason pekomoon is "dead" is because Pekora is busy and doesn't plan collabs herself often, but she does plan them and she's been a lot more active lately. But between her health, the amount of lessons she's been taking and her general streams, she isn't take too much time for collabs unless they're easy to do or spur of the moment, and it's not like she's had an easy time syncing with moona before. Most of their more fun stuff just happened by chance when both of them were in Minecraft at the same time, rather than them planning to do a build together or play some random shitty coop game.
