I think a non-humanoid chuuba would be extremely difficult to pull off, since the interaction and emotion is tied to the human element behind the chuuba.
The most reasonable ones would end up being animals or creatures, and they'd ultimately end up getting personified.
Something like the god entity from futurama could make for an interesting chuuba, but it'd need to be played right.
