13921775 No.13921775 [Reply] [Original]

It's almost surprising how shit Umisea was compared to Holodeath's kino. And then Holotori already existed. Gura not being able to speak Japanese for shit after 16 months really kind of puts gum in the wheels of any collab with the Japanese, on top of the fact Aqua is fucked in the head. Honestly you could do Marina (Marine+Ina) and it would probably work better.

>> No.13921807

It wasn't popular but at the same time the few people who watched the streams enjoyed it. Calm your tits, melodramaticman

Now Marine and Gura though, that would be very Kino

Just replace Gura with the new whale girl. The collabs were fun apart from her holding everything back by not being able to talk to anyone.

>Holotori

A thing that already existed.

>Holodeath

Lucia wanted to be frens with Mori and Ollie but didn't know how to approach them until now.

>Umisea

Something no one asked for that existed purely to shill Ina/Gura to the Japanese audiences for reasons I don't really understand, Marine enjoyed it but Aqua is too autistic and Gura is weird/not fluent in English or Japanese and thus it came off as stilted.

If your performers don't' really give a shit about each other, it's kind of pointless to make a subunit based on perceived commonalities.

>> No.13924195

>>13921775
That's because Umisea was a corporate mandated grouping while HoloDeath was started up on Mori, Ollie and Rushia's own initiative because they wanted to. Of course a grouping that came to be naturally and out of a genuine desire to get to know each other better and be closer will be more kino than a corporate mandated one.

Holodeath was cringey shit too. Holotori is fine though.

>Holotori
It started up naturally so it's fine, except Kiara wanting to replace Subaru with Lui.

>Holodeath
Like holotori it stared out of them wanting to collab with each other.

>Umisea
Marine's pet project. She desperately wanted to get to 2mil saw how Negi u got to sing an ED for anime and thought it would help her. Marine also wants to add Chloe to it so expect Ina or Gura to get replaced.

You ever thing maybe the ones who can't speak English are the ones holding it back? I mean more people speak English than Japanese so they would have a much bigger audience if they all spoke English.

Not true, they’d have a larger potential audience but vtubers are a niche interest that is larger in Japan than in any English speaking country. The biggest JP girls frequently get more live viewers and superchats than any of the ENs, including Gura.

That is the definition of "holding back" is it not? Preventing something/someone from reaching it's maximum potential.

My point is that the majority of that potential audience would never actually become their audience. Many more people speak English worldwide than Japanese, but narrow that down to who among those would actually be interested in watching vtubers, let alone doing so for long periods of time or superchatting. HoloJP would get less out of an English audience than their current ones. And it’s not as if they could simply tack the perks of an English audience on top of their current audience. Time has shown multiple times that attempting to juggle audiences with a language gap results in lower viewership overall. The one exception was Coco and she was a unique case in that regard.

You are overestimating them.
You claim these Japanese speaking vtubers are holding everything back by not learning English yet their views and engagement and equal or greater than the English speaking ones.
There's no massive potential audience. The "weebs world wide" don't watch vtubers in the same capacity and never will.

>> No.13950050

Say what you want about "active live viewers" the fact Gura's sub count is so much higher than anyone else's proves there is a much higher demand for English speaking vtubers than non-English speaking ones.

Proves that people were interested enough to not only click a button, but actively watch just enough that YouTube does not cull their accounts. And if you want to be a super numberfag, and compare active watchers not just live viewers of the bigger two Gura, and Marine's lower preforming videos tend to get similar views, and their better preforming videos tend to get about the same views, and if you compare their highest viewed video Marine has 12M views, but was posted over a year ago, and Gura's has 11M views, but was posted 3 moths ago, but I bet you're gonna play the "but it's a video with Cali" I'll see it, and raise you 11M views 5 moths ago. Gura got almost as many views in less than half the time, or a less than a quarter of the time.

>> No.13951191

Learning English would still do literally nothing for Marine. She will never learn it and the collab had 3 vs 1 person unable to communicate. Gura was holding it back.

>the fact Gura's sub count is so much higher than anyone else's proves there is a much higher demand for English speaking vtubers than non-English speaking ones.
That doesn't make sense, you'd have to compare all JP vtubers vs EN vtubers in total to compare that.
Most of the EN vtuber audience basically only knows that HoloEN and maybe Vsh*jo exists so there's not much to pick from and they just sub to Gura.
