Short version is that between December 2020 and February youtube decided to change what counts as a live viewer from "Is the Video currently playing" to "Is the video the active tab in the window and has there been recent activity in this window". This is why most streams had their viewership basically cut in half from what they were last year. It becomes really obvious when a chuuba does a poll as the number of people who voted will quickly out pace the number of "Viewers" watching the stream.

Sub-culling was added mid August, and its why IRyS didn't get sub-culled at all while Council got their subs slashed multiple times, like, 10+ times.

nobody is actually going to drop gura so they can listen to the sound of laplus's voice without knowing what she's fucking saying.
