At this point debuting a male wave is probably their last chance at breaking that barrier. If they fail then it's a real possibility that any wave after wave 4 becomes 2view tier.

Nijisanji's actual philosophy is way more far-sighted than that, they're looking ahead in spans of decades. Everything they're doing is to entrench vtubing as a legitimate industry, giving back to the scene through means such as establishing streaming academies and bringing their livers into the mainstream through big activities that engage with a great proportion of the Japanese populace. Not just by spamming otaku-oriented content that only a small group of people care about, all in order to achieve temporary popularity.
