I had heard of vtubers offhand and had them show up every now and again but never really got the appeal. It took months of pestering from a friend of mine to start watching them in general and to pick a favourite.
After watching a little bit more and more of Pekora and Korone, I looked into the EN chuubas. desu I still didn't get it and thought most of them were kind of annoying at first, but kept watching through clips every now and again to see if something would grab me.
What ended up catching me were TakaMori clips and I watched more Calli, and more Kiara because of it.
Kiara really grew on me over time. From what I thought was an annoying chicken, turned into an endearing character that really does her best and tries to bring everyone together. I really like those kinds of people, since I wish I could be more like that, even if Kiara is really fucking goofy.
Now I'm subbed and a member and that's that.

So, people tried to get me into Gura and Korone. Neither of them is appealing to me specifically, so I just kinda rolled my eyes a little bit at the whole Vtuber thing. Somebody showed me Pikamee raging at Mario games and I enjoyed that, so I started investigating. EN was still very new at the time, ID2 hadn't even come out yet. I went onto the TVtropes page, and they referenced the first Takamori Minecraft.
I don't know exactly how to express it exactly, but Kiara's way of engaging with people, her positive, sunny disposition, her ability to capitalize on moments and make them cuter or more entertaining... it just immediately grab me. I would give each of EN a shot but it was immediately obvious to me who the most entertaining Vtuber was. I'll even give new vtubers a try sometimes, Kiara's just never been remotely matched for me.
