Some really hardcore yuribaiting and constant collabs, with talk of sleepovers and going to shower together. They were probably just testing their compatibility for Holohouse move. Suisei and Kanata still had their Hoshi no Kanata day (12 hours of collab) and other collabs. But at any rate, the honeymoon period wore off and by the last collab the three of them did together they said that the constant presence in each other's lives paradoxically makes collabing harder as collabs are also a tool of socializing with each other on the clock and there's no need to when you're dropping by daily. Also any idea of a collab is easy to push off because "I can just ask tomorrow" and repeat that when tomorrow comes. All the Holos have also had their schedules filled by idol and shilling reps, so it's not like they have the time, Suisei in particular has been busy.

And so they stopped collabing, but still kept talking about each other every now and then, but nowhere near to the extent of the honeymoon period or the sleepover period. Also, as Suisei later admitted, after Coco decided to quit, she was opposed to it, but knowing full well that everyone else would be making the same arguments etc. and being Coco's neigbhbour, she felt that she should support Coco's decision. Except that she couldn't, so she kind of started avoiding them. And after she admitted that on stream I think Kanata or maybe Coco remarked that they had been wondering why she didn't come as often or stay as often as she used to. Which, you know, means that Suisei's definition of avoiding meant still dropping by every now and then. There's also limited hours in a day and from what I can tell, Suisei has been hanging out a lot with Miko and Toko and indeed Coco I think remarked that Suisei has somewhat different friends circles from the other two; almost certainly that's not the extent of people Suisei likes to see on the regular corona allowing.

There's also Kanata's open letter where she said the leech comments got under her skin and apparently she had started feeling like Suisei's sidekick herself although she didn't name names in her letter. Plus her Mengiere's putting her singing career on hold although singing was only part of what they did together, but it did force her to retool her contents and find herself anew as a streamer. Suisei also said during her year end debriefing stream that she felt she hadn't collabed with other Holomen enough last year, and indeed she was on a gotta catch 'em all collab spree for a good part of spring and summer and I think she has collabed with more Nijis this year than she has on any previous year to boot.

But you know, there has been no 1:1 collabs and everything has to happen on stream. So when Kanata, who is well known for having a belittling piece of shit for a mother she refuses to cut out of her life, said that someone she knows made disparaging comments about her chances at Mario Kart, that had to happen on stream and only instance anyone could find was Suisei bantering as is her wont. Therefore the only conclusion is after closer to a decade of friendship Suisei's banter must have come as a utter and horrifying surprise and ended everything. Nevermind that Suisei was on her chat cheering her on during that particular stream, voiced some similar sentiments about how comments on her chat made her feel, taught Kanata Mario Kart (but that's just more evidence for her verbally abusing Kanata amirite?), or that they collabed thrice after the Mario Kart tournament or that Kanata was in the middle of uploading some old Suisei clips while her little rant happened and banned some Zhangs on her chat.

In fact, the whole Mario Kart narrative was so silly I shitposted with it quite a lot back in the day as no one could possibly believe it, but newfags both here and on JP side really ate it up, didn't they?

As unlikely as it is for her to be up at this hour, I try texting a few times. As expected, no luck. Next, I try calling her, she almost always wakes up to a phone call. Except this seems to be one of the few times where she doesn't.

Please wake up, Miko-senpai. I feel like I'm going insane from not knowing for sure what's happening. So much so I'll do what would usually be considered unthinkable for me, I'll go outside.

I quickly change my clothes, grab my wallet, cellphone and summon a taxi through the app. In less than 5 minutes I'm outside getting on the taxi and heading towards Miko's house. She doesn't live too far, so I'm soon knocking on her door and ringing the doorbell.

I just walk inside while she's frozen in place. I can distinctly hear a gasp coming out of her as I storm in. I go through her living room and corridor to reach her room. My heart was almost ripping a hole in my chest and jumping out as I push the half-closed door open. And I truly wish the smell coming from this room isn't what I think it is.

The pool of sadness forming inside me quickly ignites, turning into a furious storm instead as I keep pointing towards Suisei-senpai who just stares at me with an unreadable expression, finally opening her mouth to say something.

Her voice is as cold as ice. I suppress a shiver, my brain screaming danger at me. But I refuse to listen to it as I yell at her.

"You.. I don't know how you seduced Miko-senpai, but you're bad news peko, I've watched how you've been clinging to her recently, just leave her alone!"

She stares at me in disbelief before her face contorts into annoyance. Still holding onto the blanket to cover herself, she gets off the bed, taking a more active stance closer to me. This is bad. The fact she's much taller than me and her eyes, those damn eyes, make her look so threatening that I almost panic and run away. I grit my teeth and miraculously stand my ground, glaring at her.

"You don't even realize YOU'RE the problem, Pekora? It's you, it's your fault. Do you realize how much you've hurt Miko by your indecision? How depressed she was as you left her in limbo?"

I watch as she lets go of the blanket and instead pulls Miko-senpai closer to herself, grabbing and clinging to her body from behind, wrapping both her arms around Miko as she uses it to cover her nakedness. Her head is poking over Miko's shoulder as she lets out a disturbingly sweet voice.

"I'll give Mikochi everything you refused to. You just abandoned her when she needed you the most. I'll love her, take care of her and always be present for her. Shouldn't you be happy for your friend, instead?"

This woman.. I think I'm gonna puke. I hold back my disgust as Miko only flinches and blushes while Suisei has her completely under control.

She completely avoids my gaze, staring at the ground as she tries her best to come up with an answer. This can't be..

My heart sinks again. My brain tries to reject it, but exactly as happened earlier, the truth is right in front of my eyes. I've been so worried about losing her, about wanting to go back to how things were before, about having her stolen from me that I didn't stop for a moment to think about how she felt all this time. I didn't even ask, I just assumed everything would be fine. But I couldn't be more wrong.

My knees get weak from the sudden realization and I feel like the floor is being pulled from under me. I stumble forward, almost losing my balance entirely when someone grabs me. When I look up, a pair of blue eyes stare deeply into mine

And this is fine really. I'm a PekoMikofag but I've never shipped them in a romantic sense because I've never really seen them as more than best friends with a funny and cute rivalry. I just fucking love their banter and the silly shit they do when they get together. It just works so well.
