I don’t know if they’re doing this to suck Hollywood or politicians’ or corporations’ dicks or anything, but insidious dislike targeting is a thing, and it can mislead or raise suspicions in the viewer even if the actual content doesn’t call for it, so I think in that sense there’s an actual worth in doing this
But the same people can just spam the comments section or find some other work around so I don’t see much value in a private dislike system over the actual merits the dislike system has

Youtube taking away their own feature and becoming twitch lite 2.0 is doing things backwards.
There is already the option to remove the dislike by the creator part, this just removes the feature from the viewers side.

if vtubers cared about getting a bunch of dislikes they'd just turn them off on their channel, it's been an option for many years. The only one who benefits from removing dislikes are scammers and giant mega corporations who get rightfully called out when they make shitty decisions, not anymore I guess.

Personally, I fear that the decision to hide dislikes from videos will make some Youtubers less prone to improve their craft. Since only a the Youtuber can choose to see the dislikes for a video, there's a chance that they'll simply just ignore the negative reactions and go on as if nothing's wrong, which can cause a degradation in the quality of their videos.

There is less pressure to improve if the public opinion is hidden, and not front and centre. Most people cannot or do not want to sit down and read tons comments to see what people think.
