Mel's break came long after her debut actually, she started out in May 2018 and the whole manager saga didn't kick off until around September 2019. The actual break started in February 2020 and lasted for 4 months.

Now, nearly as bad as a break was that Mel streamed extremely infrequently after her debut. And I do mean extremely, we're talking Ayame frequency for the first 5 months after Mel's debut. She started taking Hololive more seriously as a side-gig in the leadup to her first birthday in 2018 and maintained that level of moderate activity up until the situation with her manager kicked up a year later.
