Came across this very cute pond on a walk today. And I got to sing both this morning and this evening, so it was a very good day indeed. I'm sad that it'll get dark before 5pm every day for the next two months, so I'm trying to be outside in daytime hours as much as I can.

Tabletop roleplaying makes me happy. Nothing beats the feel of your players finally getting to "the good part" where they realize that all the little hints and the actions they took along the way have culminated in grand fashion. That subtle uptick in their voices as they realize what they did right, and the slight dread as they guess what they did wrong. Throw on a moderate amount of ham, theater, and improv, and you have quality content.

Shame I don't get to do it will all VTubers except in rare instances. But speaking of, I am doing a silly D&D oneshot next Sunday with a crack team of roleplayers where they'll have to bake a cake. Simple, right? It won't be.

that is a good point...
corpse's game content is very close to just on-screen commentary gameplay, but the main difference is that you get to interact with the person make that commentary as well. maybe you have some sort of further question you need clarified? then she's got you covered immediately.
she's also just knowledgeable about game design in general, so she's definitely up for discussing the design of the game at hand or just game design in general.
game content is also not her only content type. she also has dedicated lecture streams and cytube music listening streams as well, along with the occasional watchalong

The appeal of Corpse isn't due to model, stream assets, or any of the conventional things that typically stand out. She's mute, puts text on screen, and ranges from good to mediocre in most games for skill. So, what's the draw?
Interaction. She's probably the only one that can put the YouTube chat delay to something resembling decent use. She's exceptionally expressive with wording. She greets every single chatter. She's able to pull esoteric knowledge about ANYTHING tangentially related to what she's doing. She's been on the internet for long enough that she remembers and can expound on every vintage of internet culture that has existed. She's got heaps of fa/tg/uy experience. She holds music listenalongs, which honestly work better than movie watchalongs, because commentary flows bidirectionally constantly. She writes short musical pieces for her viewers, and for other VTubers alike, every month. She streams piano learning streams, covering various songs.
It's a different appeal than most VTubers, as a combined result. Keeping text lingering for longer so you can't miss messages would really help, but that's part of the (she admits it's a hard sell) reason she's still on YouTube, for live rewind and guaranteed transcoding. It's purely a sell on personality and interaction, and it's a hard sell to a lot, but for those that it resonates, it resonates hard.

See that's a good writeup. The initial knee-jerk reaction is just like, oh she's silent and motionless and types on the screen a little bit. I watched probably ~30 minutes of the Touhou gameplay, and while a few of the comments were cool, I barely got any of the aspects you were describing here.

She does seem cool with all of this taken into consideration, and I am aware that half an hour isn't really enough to get a good read on a person's complete personality; but this is a good sell. I'll make sure to check her out a little more.

I love using my voice. Whether I'm acting, reading aloud, singing or just telling some stories. Haven't gotten to do things like that in anything resembling a formal capacity since I used to be in the amateur voice acting scene a lot of years ago. Got to act a little doing improv in college, but that was awhile back now too. Don't have the same confidence streaming as I did with either of those, though. But I've been doing vocaroos here the past few days, and I really look forward to it now. Some kind words have really sparked a tiny light of confidence in me too. tiktok has the BEST content sorting algorithm on the planet right now. you make good tiktoks that hit, you're getting your content in front of THOUSANDS of eyes in your first 24 hours. that's better than you could ever hope for on twitter or twitch or youtube shorts or whatever else you can think of.

the best part is that this is passive algorithm discovery. you post, you move on. you don't have to do anything else, and algorithm will keep pushing your video in front of eyes of viewers that may generally be interested. you do well, the go to your channel. even a 1% conversion rate from tiktok means 10 viewers out of the 1,000 who see it in the first 24 hours. do you know any other social media platform that can do that with just 1% conversion?

You can upload from browser, no problems there. However, one thing you can do is schedule videos, which requires being a business account, which you have to go into your mobile account to set up.

A lot of the account management is only possible on the app for some reason. But the posting and browsing can be done on PC.

There's a difference between talking to an audience of 10-20 lonely dudes and other chuubas and talking to a homogenized audience. Most prefer the latter. Nothing wrong with the former but I think a lot of people prefer to have more viewers, not less. The end goal for people looking to grow their streams is having a large crowd to entertain, not speaking individually to every single person.

I follow quite a few on Twitter (and a few on an alt youtube for chuubas) and I almost never see them do anything with their clips. Clips are entirely pointless if they don't share them. It's like they think they can grow just by going live

I still feel incredibly awkward about listening back to myself so I’ve avoided going through my clips a lot… but I really want to. I guess I just don’t enjoy my content as others might so I have a hard time doing clips that are objectively worth putting on YT and TikTok…

Yeah you will get used to it i believe, Just not in the way you think you would. It becomes like a sort of dissasociation. Like you're listening to someone else. I used to hate my voice. Completely and utterly. Wouldn't listen to recordings or videos of myself.
It took about ~3 months of streaming, reviewing clips, and re-watching (bits of) VODs. I wouldn't say I like my voice now, but I've had three or four people in my chat say they like it, one say they downloaded my reading stream to fall asleep too, and someone hear said "Eh, it's not bad, but it's not a buff".
I think the compliments and lack of negative comments definitely helped. I'm aware I nearly crippled myself with indecision and lack-of self-worth, so it's something I try to ignore when I have those feelings.

modern "smart" tech is often worse than the thing that it replaced. they got some fancy touch screen scales to the grocery store, you now have to press two buttons to get your label but on the old one you could get it with just one button. sure the new one looks fancy but getting your thing done with the new one takes more effort because you have to learn the ui layout and you have to press more buttons to get the work done

It's been almost a yr when I found her on JP though

since people are talking about tiktok im gonna do a bit of a manager post because i've had a very negative experience with tiktok outside of vtubing i've talked about in the past around here
we ran a donation fed video site, some random made a clip about our site on their little american teacheshow2pronouncejapanese and flooded the servers with far too many members, most of which were under 20, the entire original audience is now gone and replaced by people who don't donate, forcing it to become yet another ad filled site with occasional viruses, a passion project i've mostly abandoned.
this was something entirely out of our control that happened, the videos that someone made making our site go viral did not really target a specific audience instead saying 'free stuff here'
there are two key differences here
>1, the servers were our problem, not amazon.com.gov megacorp's
if your chat becomes unreadable because too many are posting, that is the end goal, that is making it
>2, we did not have control of the clips content
I think that if you put out clips that actually reflect the content you make things should be fine, you're in control of what you put out there after all, even if someone else makes the clips, you are in control of what they are clipping.
by doing this you're casting a much smaller net than ours was, only scooping people who are interested in content you're making, and not the wide array of content we were providing.

I still think tiktok is stupid zoomer shit for people with no attention spans and won't translate to people who'd watch my own content, but twitter isn't any better and it's undeniably important to have a twitter.
