I'd argue that if you compare it to now, holo has been more successful in getting themselves more minecrafty than Niji, mainly because what Niji never had is closer interaction with other branches especially thx to EN-JP portal and sportfest coming up. Niji on the other hand, has either moved on to diversify their streams or in case of Ethyria still cockblocked from the world server

Even if they are trying different things based upon what is working for another group, that's still a good thing. The product was getting stale around Council's debut. From what I've seen of their collab streams, they seem happier. The thumbnail is copying some meme, which neither of them created. You put on the show that makes it more entertaining for your audience. Even more important, Niji EN likes vtubers, so they wouldn't have any problem with it either.

regardless of whether they copied niji or not, having a dedicated shorts channel is one of the stronger ways to exploit the youtube's shorts feature. Youtube has a separate algorithm for that shit which is extremely easy to game and is still underutilized by creators despite the huge number of views they get.

Keep in mind not all clips are shorts, they need to be the right length (less then a minute) and properly tagged to hit the shorts shelf, done properly it's easy views
