Watching Sugar Rock and checking her channel again made me sad that she's not a better singer, though. Think I spent too much time digging into who's behind VALIS. I finally got around to watching based IsekaiJoucho's first live.
They sure knew what they were doing by letting Sirius be the last song. Honestly, original songs for vtubers are often a miss for me, and so are most of ojou's originals. Except Heart of Sirius, which just clicks with me.

Would have liked to have more of Ci's singing, but I know their style is to have the verses rapped and the chorus sang. The backing track was funky, I really like it. Fra's flow was a little wack at points, maybe because he was trying to force more English then he's comfortable with? I really liked the call and response section in the middle, but by and large Mori and Fra's sections felt very disjointed. Maybe they'd link better if I could understand Fra's words so they're a coherent story, but the mic passes weren't that smooth. I also feel like Mori's tendency to try and go in aggressively didn't fit in with how hard she was spitting the words compared to how smooth Ci and Fra are, especially with the more introspective slower sections. Still pretty good, but I think they could have done better and it's not gonna top either's solo works by a large margin.

DeepL does a good job at capturing the meaning, especially if you take the time to mess with it by clicking on things that don't sound quite right and seeing alternative translations. The big failing it has is how picky it can be about the input, especially formatting, so only feed it a couple of lines at a time but that has to be balanced with the problem if you feed it too few, it doesn't have the context. The only place it's not going to help is with abstract language and metaphors that don't work in English but that's not a failing of the translation, since that's more localization.

Have to say that whoever's tagging the songs in Holodex for Hachi's utawaku in real time sure is dedicated as fuck.
