Yeah, that's sadly the downside with touch-based.
The best advantage a touchscreen has, well on tablet at least, is the screen real-estate that could be used to split it up in to functional groups, like you could have a group purely for controlling your stream layers, one for your camera capture / avatar settings, one for audio clips / BGM, etc.
Whereas on the likes of a Streamdeck, you would be switching "pages" with a modifier key, but you have that tangible key to press.
It's hard to really pick what would be better, it really depends on your personal tastes.
I'd personally prefer the tablet system since it is way more customizable. The downside being you need to learn a little programming, maybe hardware development, to get it started
But that's honestly not too complicated if you really REALLY wanted to.

You could, but then that introduces hotkeys and slowdown, also lack of easy identification, so you'll be relying on remembering what key did what and where the fuck it was.
Personally I'd do that, I made capslock in to a modifier key to do various things since capslock+X is never ever going to collide with any hotkey no matter what it is.
You can actually get non-Steamdeck like hotkey keyboards that are vastly cheaper to perform a similar purpose, but the same lack of identity issue persists. (unless you use paper and tape to nigrig your own keys)

I've not seen any game recognise it, sadly.
BUT, you can do it in a roundabout way via Autohotkey or similar. Although it the game uses anticheat, you'll get fucked in the butt most times.
You'd set up say, capslock+X, and instead of sending that, it sends something like windows+F13. F13-F24 are basically never used in anything made this century, so even the Windows key there might be a bit much lol
Then you go in to your game, setup keys, press capslock+x and it SHOULD capture the F13 instead. If not, you're fucked. I've never came across any game to capture the X or capslock, but I've not done this to many games.
In the case of Autohotkey, it's as simple as :
capslock & X :: send {F13}
If the game is fuck, you might need to change it to :
capslock & X :: send {F13 down}{F13 up}
If you wanted to use the windows key, it'd be like:
capslock & X :: send {win down}{F13}{win up}

The physical buttons with a display that can change appearance based on different states is nice. You can change your model's emotion, change OBS scene, send a tweet and a ton of other useful things. When I'm not using mine for streaming stuff I usually have some stock tickers and things like that on there. A tablet program would do this too but it's nice to have the buttons. If you want to try it on your phone it's free for 30 days.

It's incredibly handy. Autohotkey is fairly easy to learn, but it has some FUCKY syntax at times with some functions.
Usually the "get value" and "set value" for the same functionality is TOTALLY different in how parameters are laid out. I ended up making wrapper functions to get rid of that nasty shit.
You can make it move windows around, make them transparent, set them always on top, remove window decorations like borders, titlebar, title buttons, etc. Hell even clip sections out of windows.
Admittedly I haven't tested it on a Windows version past WinXP, so your mileage may vary.

That project had three stages: deforestation, terraforming, and building the main buildings. Some people did help with deforestation but after that came the long and tedious terraforming stage. It would be dumb to invite people to build stuff before the land was shaped, and since the terraforming was based on blueprints that meant anyone who wanted to work on it needed to take the initiative to install and figure out how to use Litematica. So the easiest thing to do was to just tell people to gather materials (which the blueprint-using block autists were already doing a lot of themselves). After the terraforming was finished anyone could have come and built something but by then people already had the perception that help was not welcome.
