Isn't the state of vtubing at the moment depressing?
Numbers are declining, content is stagnating, general enthusiasm for the medium is at an all time low.
What can be done to regenerate the hype? I don't mean among the masses, that's impossible, just among the people that still watch.

The "honeymoon" period started when Myth debuted, and ended when Council debuted. That's not me blaming Council for the decline in overall interest, but me saying "this is the point when the hype was officially over". Ethyria saturated the market further and stretched thin what little hype was remaining.

Numbers are declining because there's a lot of supply and not as much demand. Content is stagnating because the talents have gotten complacent. Enthusiasm is at an all time low because, well, nothing feels new anymore. I used to watch only HoloMyth, but I've branched out to Obsydia and Lazulight now because Minecraft day in, day out is boring. And HoloLive is the reason why the hobby has gotten so many new people to begin with, so when they're producing repetitive and boring content, the hobby as a whole is going to feel the effects.

I think the hype will be regenerated once V-Tubing, as a whole, spreads out to more places than YT and Twitch.

You know, edited skits were actually the main vtuber meta back in the Kizuna Ai & Four Kings days.
But I think the "evolution" (or devolution, if you dislike it) into mainly game-streaming was a natural inevitable thing, after Niji and Holo have shown this to be the way forward. Because of how most of the vtuber business model is now superchat-based, and a 2hour stream with live interaction gives much more opportunity to collect superchats (and fosters the parasocial fan interaction that makes them more likely to superchat again in the future) than a 10 minute prerecorded video.
It's also a simple matter of effort vs. reward. That 10 minute skit video probably also took 2 hours to script, record and edit in the background, and you could use those same 2 hours anyway to just start a stream and play a game (no need to script or edit anything, you just need to react to what is happening in the game, simply easy lazy).

Eliminate all EN vtubers.
Return to the idol culture of early Hololive.

EOP niggers who didn't understand idol culture spent a great deal of time saying why it was super duper bad, when it was those strict controls on what a talent could and couldn't do that maintained standards.

Oversaturation is a real boogeyman you guys are worrying about. The market has been oversaturated for a very long time. Just like streamers, new talents will still find ways to break through, and you will still be able to enjoy your chuubas all the time.

-Mandatory improv and singing classes
-Tell Owl and Chicken to stop being cunts
-Stop complaining about low viewers or that they have lives outside of watching anime girls, stop implying viewers are worse than the streamer because the streamer "might" make more money than them
-Get hype for new zatsu collabs
-Gurame comeback soon
-Next year or the next, lockdowns will end and we'll finally get 3D EN collabs, starting the peak of EN content era
-live concerts with Myth, Council, and EN3 girls, including solo concerts and collab concerts

Not even complaining about Minecra streams, but EN really needs more games like Minecra that make guerilla collabs easy and laid back. Something that doesn't require too much attention so you can focus on chat, you can log in or out at any time and share a virtual space with senpais and kouhais. Minecra really is kino for these reasons but these aspects aren't taken advantage of enough. More audience engagement in general would be nice.

>> No.11780994

It was impossible to keep up "the hype". Infinite or exponential growth is impossible. There isn't any new audiences to expand to that 99% of this board wouldn't hate with a passion. There is continued growth but it will never match the explosion Hololive had in 2020, because Hololive is so big it is impossible for it to grow at what would be considered the same hype. Gura getting 1 million subs was impressive. Gura going from 2 million to 3 million subs no-one cares, no-one will care when she reaches 4 million. You guys realize Pekora is what, the 3rd most watched in hours of female streamers in the world? There's not really much expanding to do. The hype will exist with expanding to different medium, such as games/anime. EN can still have potential of all weeb streamers becoming Vtubers and some non-weebs becoming Vtubers as well.
But really there is no expansion that will match the same exponential levels of hype of something "new/unpopular/unknown" becoming "popular". Where is the next place to go from the current popularity? It can only be a level of mainstream that everyone here would despise.
