It's more that complaints won't do anything. They're going to inflate the numbers to 1 million regardless of what we say about it, and given that this is the 3rd wave most anons have become apathetic. I feel bad for the talents in this, because they'll never be able to look at the song numbers with pride. They'll never know how many of the views are because people actually like the song instead of because a company paid for it.

When the algorithm doesn't favor you, you should do whatever you can to get outsiders to watch your content. Hololive used to use Nijisanji meta tags in their streams on top of collabing a ton with them in order to boost their brand recognition. Paying for ads isn't any worse.

If they didn't want ads at all they could use it, and if they don't mind ads why is this one in particular offensive?
And as for what they gain, it's the same thing as most ads: brand recognition. If people who only watch Hololive and have never even heard of Nijisanji now know the name, they're more likely to go there if they branch out or click on a stream if YouTube points them to it. Same as any other ad, really.
